Very welcoming and fun ambiance here. Really friendly staff that was patient while we asked questions about the menu. Unique drinks on their signature bev menu, and tasty looking bites as well. We ordered an iced buko pandan with oat and an iced IPA latte with oat. Drinks came out in glasses since we were hanging out for a bit, and they were killer! Really great flavor profiles in each respective drink that showcased the subtle nutty-sweet flavors in pandan and the complex layers in an IPA. Highly recommend giving these drinks a try! Look forward to visiting again soon to try out more of the menu!

It was the perfect balance of sweetness and coffee and dare I say a hint of saltiness? I don't know what it contained but it was definitely delicious. So much so that I have every intention of returning this week. The place is almost always busy when I go, but it only speaks volumes of how great they are. Both baristas I interacted with were kind and helpful. I ordered the ceremonial matcha and the galactic cold brew. The matcha was a 3/5 for me. There was a lot of powder at the bottom of the cup. The flavor was not strong. It was overpowered by the milk or too watered down. With better whisking, this could be a better drink. The galactic cold brew was sour. The cream on top was sweet and not overpowering. I enjoyed that flavor, but even with mixing because the sweetness isn't overpowering, the cold brew is still very sour and not something I'd prefer. This was a 2/5 for me Total for these two drinks was $17.40 and I was pretty disappointed. This wasn't worth the price to me.

I Came for a Sandwich. I Left Emotionally Attached…read more I'm in National City for work, and my event got extended by an extra day. Since my hotel room doesn't have a microwave, my husband suggested I find a sandwich, something I could eat half of and put the rest in the refrigerator for later. That was the plan. So I Googled sandwiches near me and found Nahomies Cafe just a couple blocks from my hotel. I checked out the menu, saw The Bomb sandwich, and then spotted a pumpkin chai drink. Now, I love pumpkin. I love chai. Clearly, the universe was telling me to put my shoes on and start walking. The cafe itself was super cute, and everyone was pleasant. I grabbed my order, walked back to the hotel, got comfortable, washed my hands, found something good on Netflix, and took my first bite. EXCUSE ME?! WHO MADE THIS SANDWICH?! When I tell you this may genuinely be one of the best sandwiches I have ever had, I am not exaggerating. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the sourdough was lightly toasted to absolute perfection. I LOVE sourdough, but sometimes sourdough will fight you back and tear up the roof of your mouth like you personally offended it. Not this bread. It was toasted just enough. soft, flavorful, and the perfect texture. The entire sandwich was just ridiculously good. Every ingredient worked together, and my little additions of avocado, extra American cheese, and extra chipotle mayo certainly didn't hurt the situation. And remember that whole "eat half and save the rest for later" plan? If I'm ever back in the San Diego area, Nahomies Cafe is officially on my must-stop list. If you're in National City, or anywhere close enough to justify the drive, do yourself a favor and go get a sandwich.

Maybe I didn't order the right thing, or maybe it was just an off day, but I probably wouldn't order that drink again. The picture looks promising but just not it. I actually brought one home for my husband to try as well, and without me even saying anything, he wasn't a fan of it either. I also have to say that when I first walked into the location, I didn't really feel a warm or welcoming vibe. I was hoping to have a better first experience, but unfortunately, between the drink and the overall experience, I don't think I'll be back. Maybe I just need to try something different, but for now, this one just wasn't a hit for us.

I was also surprised to see that they expanded their space that offers seating and a coffee shop! They use beans sourced from Philippines for their coffee. Good move on their end if you want to enjoy your filipino pastry with coffee or tea! My go to items rotate between the Spanish bread, pizza pandesal, and regular pandesal fresh from the oven. For my most recent visit, I was surprised to see they had the ilocos empanada available. Like i mentioned, its been a minute since coming here so not sure how long they've been making them. The last time i had an ilocos empanada was when visited Vigan Philippines in 2017! I ordered on in addition to a chicken empanada and pizza pandesal. I decided to check out the coffee shop and what made me backtrack was that they make calamansi tea (with either black or jasmine tea). Decided to order that and eat the ilocos empanada at the cafe while it was still warm. The ilocos empanada: big portion ($6). You can order with or without cheese ($7 with cheese). I opted without cheese because this is how i remember eating it. It also comes with a vinegar sauce. It was delicious. Perfect crunch. Perfect ratios of papaya, mung beans, meat and egg. Calamansi black tea - yummy as well. Not too sweet. Tasted good with the empanada. I will definitely be coming back for the ilocos empanada. They make them daily and often replenished throughout the day (according to the employee). Parking here may be tight if coming durinf busy hours since it shares the spaces with titas kitchenette (also delicious) and island pacific market as well as other small businesses in the strip mall.
