Let me say first I love Aldis. They have low prices and good products. This is my go to spot for lactose free milk. My issue with this location is they never have enough staff. I've been coming to this Aldi for a while now and have always had a generally positive experience, but my recent visit completely changed that. An employee named Mia had one of the rudest, most unprofessional attitudes I've ever encountered. From the moment I interacted with her, she was dismissive, impatient, and honestly just nasty for no reason. I asked a simple question and was met with attitude and an eye roll, which was completely unnecessary. It felt like she didn't want to be there and was taking it out on customers. I understand everyone has bad days, but there's a basic level of respect that should still be maintained, especially in customer service. I am from the bay area so I was excited to come here. My friend needed some vegetables and I decided to go with her. I asked her if she had an Aldi because we get so many commercials back home. She brought me here to check it out and it reminds me so much of Grocery Outlet but not quite. Service is terrible by their supervisor. I always used to come here but she drove me away. I drive a little further to my next Aldi. But today, I had no time, so stopped by this one. This lady, the supervisor, her Name is Elizabeth. Needless to say I had a very disappointing experience at ALDI today, and I feel compelled to share it, especially regarding the conduct of the supervisor Elizabeth. Elizabeth was extremely rude and unprofessional during my visit. I had purchased multiple quantities of a few items (like pasta, potatoes, milk and ham), and I politely asked if she could scan one and enter the quantity, which is a common and efficient practice. Instead of helping or explaining calmly, she raised her voice and insisted I remove each item from my cart individually. Her tone was aggressive and uncalled for, making the interaction unnecessarily unpleasant. Even more concerning, and one of the reasons why I avoid this store, is that I've noticed that Elizabeth tends to treat certain customers poorly--particularly those who appear low-income or don't "look" a certain way. She follows them around the store as if assuming they're going to steal, which creates a hostile and uncomfortable environment for shoppers. This behavior feels discriminatory and classist, and it's unacceptable for someone in a customer-facing role. Elizabeth lacks basic customer service skills, and her behavior reflects poorly on ALDI. Seems nobody looks behind fixtures and bins because there's always piles of trash, rotten produce and it's disgusting to see. I am appalled by the service I just received from Aldi's while going through the self checkout lane. I shop at Aldi's all the time, love the place and prices and overall, i don't typically have any issues. Some of you are probably wondering, "how do you get bad service at a self service line?" Let me tell you. I enter the self service line with a handful of items. After scanning all my items i pulled up my bank app to ensure my card wasn't locked. While that was pulling up I was looking to see if there were any bags because sometimes they only have bags at the other registers and i would have to walk over and grab one. However, there were bags at that self checkout line so i grabbed a paper bag. My app finished pulling up and I verified everything was good to go and of course planned on scanning the bag to finish my purchase. Mind you I havent even hit payment yet because I still needed to scan my bag. Elizabeth from the checkout line behind me is yelling something over and over again and i turn around, i guess she's talking to me. So I said, "excuse me?" And she yells again, "MAKE SURE YOU SCAN YOUR BAG IF YOU'RE NOT USING EBT! YOU NEED TO SCAN THE BAG." So i told her I wasn't done and she said okay, im just letting you know. Ma'm calm down. I am going to pay the .12cents for the bag. I can't even remember the last time I took my quarter back from the carts when I use them. I usually just give my cart to someone so they don't have to pay .25 cents for a cart. Anyways, Im really big on customer service and that was just plain rude. Everyone in her busy line was just staring at me like I was doing something wrong and it was quite embarrassing. It's 6:30pm I didnt even grab my receipt because I was so embarrassed. Good overall brand but horrible store. Due to its poor management. I was in line paying & added a couple of paper bags. I told the lady in the register if she could please slow down as I just gotten back surgery. That way I could put everything in the bags. She did not respond & continue putting my groceries in the cart. I didn't ask for the manager and right away he showed up. Didn't care what I had to say and only listen to the girl behind the register. Basically, he told me to hurry up and he took over the register asking for my credit card. How does a company allow employees to have ear phones while working and don't pay attention to customers then they allow employees to throw the food on the cart that the employee doesn't knowledge they are damaging the food just because it's a fast paced check out. The employees don't have the right to damage the food they don't take it home. Then the customer is trying to let the employee know what they are doing wrong they get with their feelings hurt. I used to love shopping here for the prices. Recently it's gotten so bad I rather spend more elsewhere. There is trash all over the floor of the store and outside (it smells terrible...)meat selection is always sweating and looks bad, produce is terrible too and always aggressively picked through. I got eggs from here (three cartons) and all were radioactive yellow and looked like they came from sickly chickens. Not to mention they ended self checkouts and have two cashiers max with insane lines(to the back of the store). Terrible establishment a shame it's gone down hill, I won't return again. read more

Did a pick up order here using the app. It was pretty straightforward. The store associate who dropped off my items was adequate. If I get a chance to do an indoor trip I may revise my review. #18 for 2019 San Diego is fortunate to have many alternate grocery stores carrying lower priced goods. Aldi's I like the best. This is my goto grocery store for basic things. The prices here are amazing. And, there are deals every so often. They keep you on your toes to really save. What are some of those deals? Well, let me tell you. Today I picked up a bag of hot dog buns, 8pk, for a quarter. A gallon of milk for $2.65. Carton of eggs for $.98. And, the deals go on and on. Check it out yourself and start saving. To use their carts it will take a quarter but you get it back when you return. I just use the bags I bring. Customer service is good most of the time. Seems to be only one cashier every time we go. I like that everything is well stocked and clean. The fruits and vegetables are of good quality too. Love getting black berries and blue berries for $1.50. Go online to see their weekly ads. Wrote a review about this location not long ago but it's time of year for another review. I would like to say this store offers affordable prices all year long for groceries or household items even books for kids and toys. I usually shop here for their evaporated milk that's $1.32 per can. I found they flowers to be $2.99 a bouquet it's always pleasant to shop after a holiday for better prices. Customer service is always friendly and helpful they do good job minimizing long lines. There is also plenty of parking available and security on site. Love this place. They have such a good selection and amazing prices. It's always clean and bright in here even at night. Aldis is located in a shopping plaza so there's tons of parking. You can find so many essentials here at lower prices than usual. I don't ever see anything wrong with the products either. One tip I have is to bring a quarter with you if you want to use a cart. You have to insert a quarter into the slot on the cart to release it from the other carts. You'll get the quarter back at the end of your trip when you return the cart. read more

This store just opened on December 14, 2017. I have been to many Aldi Markets across the country from DC to KC to Houston. Somehow this one just didn't have the same amount of deals to make me a fan like I was in the past. I still have to check out the one on 3rd st in Chula Vista to compare. The positives are that this store, being brand new, is bright and clean. On my past visits to other Aldi Markets, I have found good deals on produce, wine and european chocolate. I did pick up one German chocolate hazelnut bar for $1.99 but these kind of deals can be found at local Grocery Outlets and even Trader Joe's (Aldi founder's brother's store). Trader Joe's is winning the race with this particular Aldi location. I also got a pound of strawberries for $1.49 and various cans of beans for .59. Picked up a sparkling rose for $7 that my research shows retails for about $11 elsewhere. However, Chandon was $17.49 and you can find this at all the grocery stores on sale for $13 or $14. So you need to be quite a shopper if you come here. Don't assume it's all a good deal. Also, don't be alarmed that you have to insert a quarter to get a shopping cart. Every now and then we do curbside pick like this time and we love it honestly. It is very convenient since my wife is pregnant at this time. Came here for the first time a few days ago... it is a discount grocery store. shopping here is a whole new experience, let me tell you. First off, to use their shopping carts, you have to insert a quarter into a slot on the handle. When you return the cart, your quarter pops back out. I walked in, the store is brightly lit and clean. It seems like there is a little bit of everything. They don't have a lot of name brand products, just some scattered around. The off brand items which allow for much better prices. It's a good place to go for charcuterie and European chocolates. They also have a dozen eggs for $.99. We bought frozen chicken nuggets that the kids liked as well. When it comes time to pay, you can purchase bags in line or bring your own. After scanning, the items are put right back into a shopping cart. They have a long counter at the front of the store, I'm assuming that's where you can bag your items after paying. The employees working were very friendly. No complaints about the items we purchased and used so far. A great place to check out if you are not picky about brands. read more

Avoid the Grumpy old lady named Elizabeth if you go to this Aldis . The Cashier Elizabeth was extremely rude, She made us feel so uncomfortable while checking out . We are still scanning stuff and she constantly keeps telling us stuff . She walked over to us and left her busy line to come and start checking everything we are scanning . I Scanned an item twice and before we can ask for help she yells at me and my sister and proceeds to say you forgot the eggs , I'm like can you remove the item that was scanned twice we say sorry we proceed scanning and she yells out in front of ALL the customers " oh yeah the most expensive item you forget to scan " I work and have money it might be expensive for HER but not to us . It was a mistake and we had no problem paying for the item . Then she goes scan your bags now while she's standing there I tell her the machine ask's you how many bags you used when you are about to pay and she said no scan it now . She then said are you paying with EBT ? I'm like uh no my debit card and I proceed to tell her Do you do this to every customer ? She says yes , yet she goes back to sit her old ass down at the register and doesn't check anyone else's machine around us . She completely embarrassed us and made us feel like if we were doing something wrong . I asked her for her name and she says Elizabeth . what's yours ? With a sarcastic tone . This is why people do self check out to avoid grumpy cashiers yet she still found a way to harass us . The Aldi in Chula Vista is very clean, organized and surprisingly, quite of a number of people do go shop here. The staff is friendly and busy. The checkout lane usually has one or two people operating (usually when I go). The Aldi in National City is okay. This one is better, in my opinion. I think they carry more stuff than the one on National City? Anyway, their private label products tend to be cheaper for the most part. Some of their stuff, like blue cheese crumbles, almond milk or meat, I would buy elsewhere. Generally, they sometimes have a $5 off $30 coupon which saves you more. It was my first time shopping here and it was different. Apparently, this chain is very popular in Chicago and is similar to Food 4 Less. They have a lot of affordable snacks and chips which I love! Interesting unique finds including blankets, chocolate, and non-food items. Nice location, plenty of parking, and friendly employees. When you check out, they put your items straight into your grocery cart, which I thought was innovative to save space since they don't have that extra conveyer belt when checking out. To use the carts, you have to put a quarter in, but you get it back when you return the cart. I had an issue with my grocery delivery from instacart the company Aldis uses for their deliveries and curbside pickup. I called instacart to complain and I got nowhere with them. Their customer service is horrendous. Anyways, I reported this to Aldis and complained to them about the problem they created for me. Aldis did NOTHING, stating they have no way of knowing what I purchased LOL! So they couldn't help. Was told they will reach out to instacart. 2 months later NO CALL from Aldis nor Instacart. Disappointed ! We walked in here because we heard about their great prices and wanted to browse around after a great time at church. Once we got home and looked over receipt we noticed a CHARGE for a " fashion umbrella"!!!!!! We took one second to pick a brown paper bag for the groceries ( while she finished scanning out items )and only had one employee name Kiara there ringing us up! Not one of our grocery items or the lady before us items look like an UMBRELLA!!! It's disappointing bc it takes more gas $ to drive back to speak to a manager then the item charged it self !!
