Snacks by the register were good, not too many people in line and went through a manned register. I would say the only main downside is the turn out onto the Sterling Road that gets you back to the main road is a bit of a nightmare since traffic keeps coming off of Pacific and the cross-traffic out of the Target and rest of the complex can have you waiting for a while. This needs a stop sign or a light.

I come here every Sunday to do my grocery shopping. On several occasions I have had good service,…read morebut today's sales clerk Aman was exceptionally welcoming. He had a very pleasant demeanor. It's always great to encounter great customer service so I wanted to shout him out. On another note: My only suggestion for the store is that you train your baggers. My bagger was not responsive to my requests to not mix cleaning products with food. Instead he not only did not bag my cleaning products he piled them up in the basket without bagging them. Lately, bagging has become a competition as to how much can be packed in one bag. I bring tons of my own bags so my only ask is safe packing. Let me say I don't mind packing my own things. But if baggers do it, please ensure they are packing things safely. I've had more than one instance where my eggs were placed underneath canned goods, cleaning products with fruit/veggies and all glass in one bag. I always want to give honest reviews so that store leadership is aware of what's happening at the store.

I want to start by saying that all of the other employees I interacted with were great and handled…read morethe situation appropriately. They were polite, helpful, and explained that the issue was simply that the system could not scan the type of ID I had. Unfortunately, the customer service manager--or whoever the larger woman working in the customer service room was--is a completely different story. I was trying to purchase DayQuil, and I didn't have my physical ID with me. That was my mistake. I normally carry my government-issued mobile ID now, but I now understand that Harris Teeter does not accept mobile IDs for this type of purchase. At that point, the situation could have ended with a simple, "Sorry, but we don't accept mobile IDs." I then found another DMV document I had with me and asked the woman in customer service if it was something I could use. Instead of simply getting up and addressing my question, she responded from her chair with a very snarky and confrontational attitude. She started calling several other employees over, asking what I was trying to purchase and what was going on. I told the other employees I was trying to buy DayQuil. She then, still from the back of the customer service area, very confrontationally said, "No." I simply said, "Okay, I'll come back later if I can get my physical ID." At that point, she continued calling other employees over to check the situation, to the point where it felt like I wasn't even being allowed to simply leave and come back another time. I had no problem with being told that my ID could not be accepted. That is completely understandable. What I did have a problem with was the attitude and the unnecessary escalation of what should have been a very simple interaction. Every other employee handled the situation perfectly and simply explained, "Sorry, our system just can't scan that type of ID." That's all it needed to be. I hope Harris Teeter management takes the time to properly train whoever is managing the customer service area box room on how to de-escalate situations and communicate with customers professionally. A customer asking a simple question should not turn into a confrontation or a power struggle. Again, the other employees were great. This review is specifically about the way this particular customer service manager handled the interaction.

Since being bought by Giant they now carry Nature's Promise brand of organic. But that also means that they pulled other brands that were good- Barber Foods Chicken Kiev, Rosetto Meat Raviolli, Francesco Rinaldi Spaghetti Sauce, Florentine noodles etc. and many more that I relied on. As a result I now I have split my shopping between Food Lion and Safeway to try and come up with a mix of my groceries. The produce needs to be looked at closely. I have come across moldy fruit more then once. I even bought curdled buttermilk once and had to return it to the store. I would love if they got a pharmacy but I know there isn't space. The staff for the most part is pleasant, but during COVID I have noticed they have allowed numerous people to roam the store without a mask and they do not say a word to them, but they harass people about using the enter/exit doors. Priorities people!

Recently, I started a new job so I figured I'd swing by this place again. However, it's not a place I will continue to go to since it seems like total chaos now. Apparently there's new management and there's no sense of communication or a sense of urgency with any of the workers. They almost seem to be in full-on agony just being there. There's hardly ever any food to pick from the hot bar and what's there is overcooked and dried up. Last week, I called in and order to be picked up. I get there and there's no one in the kitchen fixing anything. The cook/manager shows up and says she had a meeting and too many people were asking questions so she forgot to make my food. After getting it, I go to pay and get an outrageous price. When I explained I had a simple combo, it took them all ten minutes to figure out what to charge me. By the time I got to pay and get out of the store, I literally had 3 minutes to try and eat my sandwich, which was thrown together like slop, and my potato wedges that looked as if they were a week old. It's a shame that a business that was really good has now joined the ranks of sloppy and lazy.

A new checkout line opened and the cashier clearly called out to me -- "I can help you over here, sir." As I stepped forward, a woman behind me rushed ahead, cut directly in front of me, and dumped her items onto the counter. The cashier said nothing and immediately began checking her out, without even glancing at me. It was humiliating. What's the point of having a line if people can just ignore it and cut ahead with zero consequences? Even someone further back in line offered to let me go first -- they could see what had happened -- but by that point I was too shocked and honestly hurt to continue. I returned all my items and left. It stayed with me the rest of the day and even now, I still can't shake how wrong it felt. This isn't just about one rude customer -- it's about the store allowing that behavior to happen, unchallenged, right in front of them. If respect and basic fairness can't be upheld at checkout, I have no reason to shop here again.
