We didn't have an appointment that evening, but the pharmacists were friendly, and said they would accommodate us. We had to wait about 15 minutes but it wasn't bad given that they had plenty of chairs to sit on. When it was time for my son to get his shot, the nurse called us to a private room. She handed my son a small bag of treats to distract him, and used words of encouragement in a very sweet tone while administering the shot. My son flinched a little, but did not cry. After he got his flu shot, the nurse gave us a coupon to get a scoop of ice cream, which we did on our way out. My son and I were so delighted! The whole experience of getting a flu shot was so positive at this location, and because Rite Aid used positive reinforcement, I think my son will be more willing to get any vaccines/shots in the future.

I have been going to this CVS store/ pharmacy since I moved here as it is very close to where I…read morelive and the most accessible as a disabled person. The pharmacy is seemingly quite short staffed. When I have called the pharmacy to ask a question/check a prescription, I have often waited on hold 30-45 minutes until the pharmacist answers the phone (sometimes with an attitude)! I was never on hold more than two minutes at the other CVS I I patronized where I used to live. Totally outrageous and difficult for a disabled person to be on hold that long. They also regularly forget to scan my insurance and I've accidentally paid more/retail price for my numerous prescriptions due to this error. I've also been forced to wait 5 days for a popular medication regularly filled to come in stock- forcing me to go without for days. How is that ok? Although there are 3 registers at the pharmacy there is ever only 1 person serving pharmacy customers. I am physically disabled and the line to the single register in use is often 10+ people deep and it is difficult to stand there in the aisle waiting for so long without chairs. The checkout machine asks so many questions about other services available that it's a process that takes far too long, adding extra time to an already lengthy checkout with loads of folks waiting. The receipt issued is miles long. You could encircle the moon with it at least once. How many forests were cleared just for CVS receipts in this country we'll never know. Now they finally have the option to email receipt but oddly I never actually receive it despite getting other emails. Most of the staff is helpful and friendly. The store itself is not that tidy, the bathroom could use improvement, and it has some outrageous markups on numerous cheap items (a cheap plastic broom here was $30! The broom of financial doom more like). This is not a frugal place to shop. Ample parking is always available. In short, this CVS does not impress.

There is an entire aisle of refrigerator cases stocked with four- and six-packs of beer, and another aisle is half cold case, half unrefrigerated beer in cans and mostly large-format bottles. The breadth of brewing companies and styles presents beers from many countries and likely has something for every palate. I see a few one-star reviews and I can't speak to the experiences those people had. I can say that I have never felt I was treated rudely. Perhaps this is because I'm a graduate student, though that really shouldn't have anything to do with it. I also haven't had cause to ask any questions about selection, because I let the beers give me all the info I need. But I do make smalltalk with the employees while at the register, and it's always been fine. There's also an impressively large selection of other types of liquors, liqueurs, and mixers, and some snacks as well. I've seen quite a few interesting looking bottles I'd be interested in trying, if I had more time to drink (grad student) and more money (yeah, grad student). I hope this store survives the Covid-19 pandemic. For those who stay in IV, drinking may be a pretty appealing activity, so I expect it will.

The Shack shares coffee loyalty cards (and baked goods, premade salads and sandwiches) with the Coral Tree and Courtyard Cafe: convenient. I've never had an issue with a coffee order; these baristas are kind and proficient. The Shack has a large selection of chips, popcorn, veggie straws, you name it. For prepared foods (I'm veg so...) the best deals are definitely the quinoa salad and the vegetarian burrito. The Asian fusion slaw and the bran muffins are tasty, too. They also have a baffling selection of Odwalla, Naked and Soylent smoothies. Which one to choose???!!! Pro tip: it is less expensive to order a medium latte in a small cup than to get a small latte with an extra espresso shot.
