Amazing sirloin smothered in cheese and bacon, cooked to order, with a generous helping of fries and delicious aioli served with friendly service and a stunning view. The service was quick without feeling rushed, which made for a work lunch feel like quite a treat. Definitely will be back, and hopefully get to try some of the items from the bar menu :) read more

First time here with the boyfriend for our anniversary. We came during brunch buffet which we didn't know about but it was almost 2pm and they were willing to provide us the dinner menu instead. Our server was very helpful. We waited for about 30 minutes for our appetizers and then another 15-20 minutes for our main entrees. Given they were just done with brunch might of been for the long wait. Food was good but I don't think over the top for its pricing. Food did lack a little bit of salt. Whole fish had simple seasoning with lemon and a mayo taste sauce over it - fish had a lot of bones. Filet was tender and juicy but the bernaise sauce (like hollandaise) was a bit too rich for my taste. I got tired of the flavor quickly. To share a delightful time with some of my favorite people while indulging in my favorite meal of the day (yes, call me basic), 6Smith was the nearly perfect spot. My friend was able to book a table for 8 for last Sunday, which is when they serve only their brunch buffet. The restaurant is large (and beautiful) and at the time was not crazy busy so we were seated right away and didn't have to elbow our way into the multitude of dishes available at the buffet counter. For about $27, you get a complimentary coffee, tea, or oj, and access to eat as much as your heart desires from their buffet selection. They had the typical brunch items such as eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits, and gravy. They also had shrimp cocktail, salmon, chilaquiles, steak, cheesy hash, and pork pulled eggs benedict. Their pastries and dessert spread is incredible as well with delicious almond croissants, cookies, and bars upon bars. I am not lying when I say that everything I had was delicious and worth the price (that is if you come hungry and able to eat at least two plates otherwise why are you at a buffet?). However, we ordered a Tito's Dirty Martini and it was $24, along with a basic brandy Manhattan and it was $20. Those cocktail prices just don't compare to the surrounding area. I must say I went Saturday, and the food was not good. I ordered a Ceaser Salad, and the dressing was not creaser, but a vinaigrette mixed in the back. When me and two others wanted to send it back, they refused. It was not creaser. the rest of the food taste mediocre. We had steaks, mushrooms, baked potatoes and these items were just okay. The Brussel sprouts were burnt, and they did remake those. not sure what was going on, but I've only been once before and the food was awesome which is why I went back, and I must say the ambiance was better than the experience. Have been here maybe six times since last summer, more so now that we have a boat and there is easy public boat parking nearby. This time we went two nights in a row because we were boating in the area. Having a public dock right there is a huge bonus. Floating plastic, rubber bumpers, a dock hand or two, what could be better? Well, my wife says the dock moves too much with the waves coming from the bay. I view it as part of the experience. Maybe not good if you are inebriated. Both times it and Wayzata Breworks next door were packed with people. Both times we had friends with us and we just hung out at the bar and drank their fantastic draft microbrews (dudes) or mules and margaritas (The ladies). Both times outside with great views of the water and boats. I have also eaten inside and above, on the upper deck. The place is always packed. We were sure to take our red meat eating parents here as well. This is definitely a destination for food and atmosphere. I rate this place on the classier scale, swank, and note patrons tend to dress up. And yet in Minnesota casual fashion, I don't hesitate to come in off my boat in water logged shoes and swim shorts and T, ball cap, and on past the fashionably dressed ladies and gents. Let's start with the booze. Great selection of tap beer, despite the brewery next door, which they offer. Nice representation of area breweries, but conspicuously absent are Backchannel, Unmapped and LtD, far superior to the ones they have, IMO. That said, I had a Great War Pigs Lazurite American IPA and Fulton Sweet Child of Vine IPA on the two different days, just the one per day because I was driving... still plenty more to explore on future visits. I appreciate the almost perfect format of the beer on the menu: brewer name, beer, type, ABV and city, state. What would be perfect is to group them by type. And add those three local brews. Ladies raved about their sweet drinks. The bartenders are clearly proud of their creations. As for food, it is awesome. I have had a wide array. The Brussels Sprouts are awesome to share. I got the lobster roll and Fat Burger on the recent two days. Both good enough to get again. Prices are reasonable. Staff is always great. Higher end wait staff, but they do seem to work a lot of tables. So, to recap, the five stars is based on food, booze, cost, deck and view, overall ambiance, boating access and staff. This place is solid, and consistently serving well executed, tasty and well balanced twists on classic goodies and interesting, seasonal ingredients. When I came for restaurant week, I got the caesar salad, my sister also a ceasar, and her husband the tuna poke. The tuna poke came as a 3 tiny fried wonton with fresh tuna and assorted dressings. He reported it was quite tasty! I was rather disappointed with the caesar. While the ingredients itself were solid, with good, crispy romaine lettuce and even a little anchovie on the side, the salad was quite underdressed. I wanted and needed more dressing! My sister agreed. Then the main courses came. We all got filet mignon, rare, and my sister got the oscar style. Um...let me put it like this: no one had left overs, and no one wanted to share!!!! The temperature was perfectly rare, warm on the outside, room temp and pink in the middle. The compliments on the dish with the potatoes and creamy, lemony, silky bernaise were a great addition that not only complemented the beef, it also enhanced the flavor! After being away from the Twin Cities for over five years, upon our first immersion in the Restaurant Week pool, we chose 6Smiths. Not because we are close...(in the southeastern suburbs now)...but rather chosen because of the attraction of their restaurant week offerings. Due to the distance--plus the fact that we both had an unusual mid-week day off together--we chose to reacquaint ourselves with the Wayzata area, and what building changes there!!! The RW special menus for both dinner and LUNCH are thoughtful and robust, but Lunch is exceptional! You get three courses plus a special offering of RW wines to suit the menu. First course: My wife had the exceptional Asian influenced Ahi Tuna crisps. Nicely diced, the Ahi is tender, delectable and on top of crisps, and a slight pool of Chipotle aioli with a kiss of both sesame oil and siracha. I chose a wonderful Heirloom Tomato and oakleaf lettuce plate with a sprinkling of balsamic on top of house made ricotta. EXCEPTIONAL! On to the main: we both chose the 45 day dry aged Sirloin with fries. Boy, the steak lived up to its' promise. Dense, deeply flavored with beef essence, and perfectly cooked to your preference. The fries were hand cut and perfectly cooked. Dessert was one of both offered. Turtle mud pie, and Chocolate/butterscotch Bodoni (Pudding). The wait staff was ok, but it took almost a hof hour to produce a cold bowl of salty tomato soup and a chicken salad sandwich that was so overpowered with tarragonthat it was inedible. Perhaps that was the strategy....make people wait so long for their food that they will eat anything. If you want to pay $25 for a hamburger, this is the place to go. Oh em gee! My dad and I just discovered the BEST burger we have both ever had!!! So he's tried hundreds if not thousands of burgers, I've tried hundreds and damn... the burger here stole the show. We both ordered the Venison and Kobe "Juicy Lucy". I've been living in Minnesota for 9 months and this was my first time trying their juicy Lucy speciality. Wow it sure did not disappoint. We waited what felt like 15 min before our food arrived stacked high and proud. The presentation of the burger was phenomenal. It was served on a wood slab with our sides of New England clam chowder and oyster crackers. The burger was placed on a buttery pretzel bun and stacked to the sky with fresh tomatoes and iceberg lettuce. The patty itself was thick and oozing with cheese and fat. One bite? My taste buds danced and we both looked at eachother and exclaimed "this is beyond delicious!" The clam chowder was the best I've ever had as well. Huge chunks of melt in your mouth potatoes, slices of bacon and lots of fresh clams came together in a rich soup. The service was so friendly and attentive! No one from management came to our table afterwards. I went to the host stand and asked that they wipe the chew off and we get new silverware, because this dude legit got his chew juice everywhere. I'm still in shock over how they handled it. We had servers walk up and ask if we were ok...but no one from management ever stopped by to see what was up. We arrived for our reservation at 7pm only to be told the previous guests had yet to leave. They indicated they would text our group when our table was ready. 25 minutes later I receive a message that they are clearing our table (still not ready) and we are seated at 7:30. No apologies by any of the host staff. We asked the host to notify the manager of our wait. The manager comes over, some time later to explain how "reservations" work. It's just a reservation not a guarantee that the party before you will be gone, and we can't ask them to leave. We proceed to order drinks and apps. At this time we ask for the bill to be split 3 ways and she says she will do so at the end. Our first order of Tuna Poke has a huge hair hanging off the plate, so we send it back. Again, no apologies by management or our server just that they would remake the plate. They bring out the new Tuna and the person taking the last bite has to pull a hair out of her mouth! We notify the server and she apologizes. When they bring out our entrees 2 of 6 of us ordered steaks and they had no idea which one was which, medium vs medium rare. They swapped our plates multiple times before going back to the kitchen to verify. Finally, one bill is brought to the table, not split. When we ask her to do so she reviews the bill and makes a statement that the manager was supposed to remove the Tuna and had not. All things considered the food was good, but management here needs significant improvement. 6 Smith gives a vibe of arrogance and given the price I would have higher expectations of how they would treat their customers. Evidentyly you can only get a decent table, in spite of a reservation, if you are a party larger than 2. Nope, seated by a smelly plant, lots of flies and very claustrophobic. We waited over a half hour to get our drinks. Ordered appetizer came before the drinks and they were gone by the time our drinks arrived. Terible cocktails. Let's see for sixteen dollars you get a glass of ice with three sips. Food was less than good. Chicken sandwich was a dried out chicken breast topped with way too many condiments. Today we celebrated a friends birthday at 6Smith knowing that it was going to be busy during Mother's Day weekend. a few of us have been in the restaurant industry (myself included for 18 years. Serving, bartending, supervising) so we knew it may take a little longer for food and service - especially for a party of 12. We were sat at a table that was decorated with confetti and one of the two servers came and greeted us. asked who was celebrating the birthday and birthday girl raised her hand. took our drink orders and looked at our id's started the drink ordering and I'd checks with birthday girl's. greeted by the second server and he helped take some drink orders along with her. we were well into an hour before we received drinks from the start time of reservations at 1 pm. We were fine with that considering our large group and knowing it was one of the busiest weekends in the restaurant industry. Had our food order taken and received food faster than we expected. So far, so good. Done with the meal so we were ready for cake time. we informed the servers we were ready for cake (2 hrs and 45 mins after being there) guy server Asks us when the birthday girl was going to arrive and we refreshed the server's memory whose birthday it was :(. So the guy server comes back and asks THE BIRTHDAY GIRL which birthday cake it was and described the cake he thought it might be since they had 5 birthday cakes back in the kitchen. (I guess they don't have a system to organize the cakes to the tables?) BDAY girl says she has no clue about a birthday cake. He didnt understand the social cue and proceeds to say "well I don't know either that's why I'm asking you." So frustrated, I say yes to the one he described. The girl server comes back with cake in hand and again, asks THE BIRTHDAY GIRL IF THAT WAS THE CAKE. So at this point I am really upset because after clearing up any confusion with whose birthday it was to the both of them - i jump in and tell her that this cake was supposed to be a surprise and that they keep inquiring THE BIRTHDAY GIRL after being told a few times who she was and even checking the birthday girl's ID. She says "there are 5 others back there so she just wanted to make sure" - there were no social cues to miss this time with the fact that I told her straight up that they keep asking the BIRTHDAY GIRL. Trying to make sure our table gets the cake we brought was not the point. It was the fact that they BOTH KEPT ASKING THE BIRTHDAY GIRL ABOUT A CAKE THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A SURPRISE BECAUSE IDK? NORMALLY WITH A BIG PARTY THE PERSON WITH THE BIRTHDAY DOESNT BRING THEIR OWN BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!! There were TWO servers who did a wonderful job otherwise with clearing dishware, and filling beverages. But please do better in communicating especially during a celebration. Suggestions: * when a staff member (host or server) takes a cake from a patron, something as little as a post it note labeled with the table number should be attached to the box/container of said cake before storing in the kitchen to avoid confusion. * if team members are aware of a birthday (which they were because there was confetti on the table labeled happy birthday) - specify in the POS with a distinction to a seat or an order in the case something like this happens. In our case the birthday girl ordered a Bombay Sapphire with tonic garnished with limes and olives (I know this because this is the only thing she drinks besides water) - not a completely weird order but still differed from the rest of the table - I would have noted (bday) in a modification so everyone that touches the table, knows. it is understandable the last suggestion may not be completely ideal with a big group due to movement from one seat to another. 6Smith is a sleek, tony, upscale casual place with a stellar location. To their credit, taking full advantage of the setting, when one is comfortably ensconced on the patio overlooking the lake, their price points are easier to rationalize. My daughter and I enjoyed dinner together recently. Indeed, seated near the docks on a gorgeous evening watching the pricey pleasure crafts sway gently in their slips and a fleet of sailboats off in the distance, it made their fare seem like a relative bargain. We began with Calamari and a Wedge Salad. The calamari (with Thai sauce, carrots, cilantro, fresno peppers, scallions) was flavorful but disappointingly more toward the rubbery end of the texture spectrum than one might reasonably expect in an establishment such as this. The wedge salad was a respectable rendition of this classic. However, I've had better for far less than the $15.95 charged by 6Smith. For our main course, my daughter selected Roasted Vegetable Salmon Salad (organic Atlantic salmon, roasted Butternut squash, roasted beets, arugula, spicy pecans, chevre, lemon vinaigrette) and I chose the Cast-Iron Seared Jumbo Scallops (w/ slow roasted tomatoes, potato gnocchi, balsamic, beurre monte & Fresno peppers). Both offerings were very good. The roasted veggies were nicely charred and the salmon well prepared. My scallops were large, tender, perfectly seared and worked well with the dense, rich gnocchi and the bright, spicy peppers. I'll add that when compared with our starters, these were priced much more within the range of similar places. Portions were such that we had no room left for dessert. We both very much enjoyed glasses of 6Smith's "Erik the Red" (house made ginger syrup with spice, charged water) with our meals. Service was cordial and professional. Plenty of free available parking in the adjacent lot. Again, for the privilege of enjoying a lakeside view on one of our all too few pleasant days, I am quite willing to pay a premium. No quibbles. Would I feel less generously inclined if dining here inside on a mid-winter eve? Most likely, yes. So, go enjoy the food al fresco while you can. The total experience is, to me at least well worth it. BTW, we were admittedly being somewhat extravagant. You may certainly choose to be more judicious with your dining budget. My wife and I went there for restaurant week in part because we took part in their Thanksgiving brunch and was very impressed. My wife ordered the 5 ounce Filet Mignon while I ordered the prime rib. Her Filet was very good while my entree was extremely fatty....I got about 2 bites of lean meat off of it. They said the portions were a bit smaller than the usual entrees which is understandable but I almost needed a strong pair of glasses to see my slice of chocolate mousse. I had such an amazing experience with my co workers. The restaurant was next to the Wayzata Lake. Make sure you call in advance to make reservations to sit next to the lake. We got here just in time to see the sunset and had such an amazing view of the lake before dinner was served. Aside from the view, the food and service was world class. I ordered the grilled scallop over veggies. The scallop was perfectly grilled where it was cooked throughly and tender. The must order is any of their steaks. I highly recommend the filet mignon. They season this steak so well and cooked it just the way I liked it medium well. Every bite was juicy and I looked forward to the next bite. Don't forget to order a side too. I recommend the corn. Our server was very helpful with the menu and made good recommendations around the time. He constantly checked in on us too. Everyone was overall very pleased with our intimate dining experience. Went there for brunch today and to sum up the experience I'd say it's your typical brunch favorites with upgrades! No complaints. I got the bottomless mimosas and the avocado toast, which was not your average avocado toast! The slice of brioche toast was Texas sized and made to perfection (chewy flaky crust, fluffy soft inside) and the poached tomatoes added a dimension of flavor I never thought of until now. My partner got the Breakfast Old Fashioned and the biscuits and gravy. He said it was the best he's ever had! The twist with that creation was the cheddar jalapeño biscuits. The plating presentation was a work of art. The breakfast old fashioned was also genius- you pour your drink from a syrup dispenser onto a skewer of thick cut bacon and a mini pancake perched on top of the glass. So you get the Nice smokie flavor of the bacon with the old fashioned. And of course the monkey bread is in its own category! The caramel sauce was heavenly smooth, and they add extra bacon on top with the pecans. Definitely recommend giving this brunch spot a try-oh and of course it comes with a lake view! 10/10 read more

Arrived late afternoon for an early dinner. Loved the cool and up to date atmosphere. Probably wouldn't take our kids. Our waiter was really nice, but everything seemed to take a really long time despite it not being a busy hour. Nothing about our food really stood out as amazing, we ordered the clam chowder and lobster guac to start. We've heard a lot about the guac but it was super average and had a few huge chunks of lobster.. don't get the hype. Our main dishes (salmon with succotash and the red snapper sandwich) were good, but again not amazing or a reflection of their price. The double dipped fries with aioli were also underwhelming, most of them being soggy. Wouldn't recommend getting as a starter, can't imagine paying $12 for those fries alone! We luckily nabbed a spot for a late dinner. I had heard of a vegan menu at this steakhouse and sure enough when I asked they brought one out for me. We started with an order of guacamole and chips. Dang this was delicious. For my entree, I ordered the roasted vegetable crostini. There were several pieces of chewy/crispy bread topped with avocado and perfectly roasted veg. Scrumptious. The side salad was a bright, tangy addition to the meal. It was a little pricey, so I don't think we'll be back all the time. But, I will definitely return for a special occasion. I love this place. I come once a year but I eat lunch and dinner there every night and drink there all day and night for 4 days. The always treat me very well. The staff is amazingly friendlymy favorites are Alec- bartender, Heidi- waitress and John the manager. Great food, great staff, great view! I highly recommend. read more

One of my favorite restaurants. The service, the atmosphere and the food. The happy hour is AMAZING. Some of the best happy hour prices, especially with the restaurant being a special occasion/fancy restaurant, they have hard to beat HH prices. Restrooms are clean. The outdoors is more casual when the deck is open in the summer. The type of restaurant where the server knows every question you ask them, even about the wine. Impeccable decor. Kind of looks like a whiskey bar, you know, besides the amazing wine wall/cellar. The FOOD is beyond good. I get a chili rubbed chicken sandwich that is very hard to eat, but I order it every time. I love that there is a side option for a salad with no up-charge and it's about as big as a plate! There was no complaints about the food and everyone enjoyed everything! I didn't like the Charles and Charles red wine blend though, but that's all preference. read more

I'll start by saying I'm a local resident but I also travel a lot so I know a good restaurant. Many of which are right here in town. This one is very poorly managed. I brought my wife here to celebrate our 41st wedding anniversary and was hopeful because I'd heard good things. The calamari appetizer was "just ok" at best and the flank steak I ordered came buried under a heaping mound of fried onions that I soon discovered was a cleaver disguise for a terrible cut of meat that was poorly prepared. Burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. I tried to muddle through it and finally gave up. Completely inedible. The poor waitress (who was very sweet) had to go get permission to take it off the bill. Against better judgement I went ahead and ordered desert (because I was starving) and the key lime pie was again "just ok" for anyone who knows what good key lime pie tastes like. The worst part was that the manager who we saw bopping about the restaurant never took time to even apologize about serving a terrible dish of food. Almost seemed like it was such a common occurrence that it didn't phase him in the least. All-in-all a very bad experience and I truly wish we'd of chosen a different restaurant. We'd actually eaten here before a couple years ago and had remembered it as being very good. Must be new management or maybe their success has gotten the best of them. One positive was my wife's sea-bass was actually very good. My advise is to avoid this place until they get new management. BTW they do charge $20 for a Martini...so they have that going for them. read more

6Smith never disappoints! Visited after work on a cold Tuesday in April and ordered off the happy hour menu. With the reduced prices we splurged on lobster sliders, chicken wings, a double cheeseburger and key lime pie. Each was fresh and tasty. I enjoyed a terrific rose' and hubby opted for a good malbec. The atmosphere is very modern/industrial but the music and huge windows looking out at Lake Minnetonka provide a scenic atmosphere. Great service. I'm looking forward to venturing to 6Smith when the weather is nicer and the deck is open for seating. read more

M'ladies took me here for a resplendent dinner for my birthday. Oysters and cheese curds for appetizers. Oysters and cheese curds. The way they prepare their curds makes these two dishes synergize. Wonderful. Then we ordered family-style: Gnochi. Roasted cauliflower. Flash-fried brussels sprouts. A beautiful fillet of fish on a bed of brocolini. And a gorgeous steak. Just a few little roasted potatoes. Every item was prepared perfectly. Every single bite was heavenly. None of the above can I make better at home. Then, the service: Alex's service was not only attentive and perfectly timed so as to never intrude while never leaving us hanging or wanting for a thing, but she was wonderfully helpful with suggestions and even entertaining humor. Thank you, Alex. While serving ourselves at home is to be lauded; great service at a restaurant is the other best reason for dining out. And desert, even: The ladies went for 50 Shades of Chocolate. 6Smith's is very nearly as relishable as what I deliver at home. read more

I went here for restaraunt week during COVID and was very impressed. They have amazing food, service, and a beautiful atmosphere! The design of this place is sophisticated in a modern way, and the view of the lake is spectacular. The food is also impeccable. I got their 6smith Old Fashioned, 7oz filet with brussel sprouts, and flourless chocolate cake. The sirloin and bernaise sauce melts in your mouth and the old fashioned is one of my all time favorites! The whiskey they use is perfectly sweet, and the cherries for garnish really set this drink over the top for me. Would highly suggest for a nice date night as it's a little expensive. read more
