Went to Two Harbors tonight for a basketball game and left Duluth early to grab a bite to eat…read morebeforehand. I've heard of this pizza place several times and have been meaning to give it a try. My dad and I walked in and we were greeted by a very pleasant and polite gal who made us feel right at home immediately. I didn't have my readers so I couldn't see the menu and just ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza. The place had a nice vibe and while she was making pizzas the gal was still interacting with us. The pizza came out of the oven and served in about 15 minutes. Piping hot and cooked just enough on the well done side to be perfect. The first bite burned my mouth, my fault for not waiting. Each bite after that was amazing. The pizza crust was thin, crunchy, but light and airy almost. I've not experienced that type of crust before. The sauce had a distinct flavor that was top notch and the sausage was flavorful but not overbearing. I looked at my dad and said this is probably the best pizza I've ever had. He said the same thing. Highly recommend this place if you're stopping in Two Harbors, passing through or just decide to drive up like we will be doing next week to try another.

Unfortunately when I arrived there was no greeting from any of the numerous staff. The two front desk employees were very busy with their registers and the phone, and it was 5 minutes before I was able to speak to someone. The main lady was a bit short with me, (and I saw her be much shorter with other customers). They were really busy, so I can sympathize with the stress, but some more manners would have went a long way. Unfortunately my pickup time was 15 minutes later than the ETA I was given online. When it came to the pizza itself though, they really delivered! It's possibly the best BBQ Chicken pizza I've had, even though I was surprised by the inclusion of dill pickles. If you're a pizza fan visiting the north shore it's definitely worth considering this place!

We had a much longer wait for pie at Betty's, and were lucky to get a parking place at all. It was mobby, and it wasn't even the weekend! There was about a 10 minute wait to order at the outdoor window, and a 15-20 wait for our slices. Most of the people ahead of us seemed to be getting pie shakes. In addition to the apple pie slice, we bought a toffee cream one. We ate it soon after our visit. It was delicious. The pale crust reminded me of shortbread, the filling light, sweet, and creamy, with what seemed to be Heath bits throughout. It was great and surprisingly not filling at all. As for the apple pie comparison, Betty's version was more cohesive a crust and easier to eat, but it was also surprisingly bland. The thicker crust at the edge was dry, too. The fillings from both bakeries were quite close, both good. From Betty's, we liked the cream pie slice much more than the apple. For classic double-crust apple, Rustic was best between the two.

We would have eaten breakfast there but they had people working on their ovens. So we got coffee to…read morego. We sat outside at one of the picnic tables in the woods. First, the coffee was divine. I had an iced latte and the coffee flavor just punched through the milk. SO good. Second the shop was very cute inside and super nice counter staff. Plus the outside seating in a very woodsy little spot, complete with a creek bed nearby, was delightfully northern Minnesota! Highly recommend!

And for me, part of the experience is slowing down to enjoy the moment. No small part of that enjoyment comes from drinking my coffee in a proper vessel. It could be a ceramic coffee cup, or a bowl, or a heavy glass, or a demitasse cup on a saucer. Different shops can have their own style, but if you refuse to serve a well crafted drink in something other than paper, that's an issue for me. Especially when the proper cups are right there! I see them. And I get that washing dishes can be a pain in the neck, but coffee shops can charge what they charge for beans and water because they are providing an experience. Sorry. Thanks for hearing me out. Beyond that, this place is lovely. The people are friendly, which should not be a surprise in Minnesota. The cortado was good, but hard to fully appreciate or evaluate in its sad little paper cup. My family was happy with their drinks. And the outdoor space is simply magical. This is a tucked away little modern coffee oasis in a remote part of Minnesota and I'm very glad it exists and can provide me and others the energy boost needed after hours of nature walks in the area.

The food is delicious and super cheap!The have a wide variety of coffee beverages and a cooler of soft drinks. Just order at the counter and take a number. It's a short wait for your food and you can sip on your caffeine beverage of your choice while you do a little shopping. They have a wide variety of handmade gifts like purses, art, quilts, knit mittens, etc.

The coffee was of good quality (Duluth Coffee Company methinks) and refilled before empty. Upon seein the gnomes, I said, "Oh, no it must be getting near the end of gnome season," but the friendly gentlemen remarked happily, "it's always gnome season." Haha, hard to disagree! Some extremely cool homemade crafts were in abundance within Louise's Place, including gnomes, various knitted pieces, and greeting cards, which I ended up getting, along with some tableclothes (since gifted out, no picture available of those). For the quality of the food, the value was great!
