Really quick service here even when there's a line! There are soooo many food options here and it also doubles as a little convenience store with drinks and snacks! We placed our order at the counter, and only had to wait about 10 minutes for our sandwiches. The tables were completely full when we arrived, but they turned over quickly and we were able to grab a seat. My husband and I typically order one hot sandwich and one cold sandwich and trade halves. This time, we went with the Chopped Cheese (my fave) and the Turkey Avocado (my second fave). Once upon a time, I gave 51st Deli a very rare 5-star review. Sadly, I can no longer say that this is a go-to place. I get that there can be a bad day, but today was the fourth time in a row that I have had a sad sandwich. Lately, the bread has been a little stale and the sandwiches have been lacking flavor. Today I got home, unwrapped my sandwich and found that my Turkey AVOCADO sandwich was missing the avocado and the pickled onions. So basically I received an overpriced turkey sandwich that I had to add mustard, salt & pepper, red onions and avocado from my own fridge. I guess that's a sign that I should have just saved the $30 for two sandwiches and made my own at home. The quality just is not there. So sad. read more
