I got a dip manicure and a regular pedicure. After getting the pedicure they tried to tell me I had to wait 30 minutes to get my nails done because they had just started doing someone else's nails ( at this point I was there for over 1 hour) the nail tech tried to gaslight me, saying that I asked for gel polish (I have been doing only dip on my hands for 5+ years) & not even a full 24 hours later almost all of my toes are chipping Update 1- I called and let them know that it was chilling and I would be coming in tonight by, the guy that greeted me tried saying I don't say I was coming in when I certainly did. During my second visit here ever, I realized there were few to zero people wearing masks in the salon, not only that but no gloves were worn by any worker. I was sat at a dirty station with nail shavings and used products with no disinfection in between customers. I went in for acrylic removal and left with scratched horrid nails and bleeding nail beds which were painfully cut into. Never returning. My first visit 3 weeks ago was not any better if anything worse when I left with bleeding cuticles and low quality, rushed through experience. read more

Do not go here! They made me wait for 1 hour to get my nails done. Then an hour and a half for my toes! They only have a couple nail techs. My mom took me here to relax after having my daughter and it was anything but relaxing. I asked for Med long nails and she gave me short and you can see the nail on my left finger nail patruding and she said it was fine and ignored me. I paid 85.00 plus for my nails and she refused to fix them . Terrible customer service! Way too pricey also for what you get. I've been to places who have no problem adding acrylic to my nail. Only thing I'll give them is that they give good foot and leg massages. The most annoying part is when other employees come and sit beside you in a pedicure chair and speak to the person doing your pedicure loudly with zero pause. Definitely not a relaxing place at all. I've tried giving them several tries, but it's safe to say, I won't be back. The quality of work does not reflect their prices as the gel on both my nails and toes are practically ruined in about five days. One of the most expensive places in the area for less than mediocre work. Like I stated before, the customer service is awful. There's also one particular employee that every time I'm in there is extremely loud and pushes her personal opinions on everyone. Least relaxing salon I've ever been to. read more

This is my second time at 5 Star. I like it. Suzie did them the first time and did a great job. Sonya did them this visit. She was just as good, maybe even better. And she is fast. I will return. If I had a compliant it would be they allow some clients to talk on the speaker on their phones. Last visit a young girl was getting a pedicure and had some guys on speakerphone for the whole time I was there. I don't understand how people don't realize how rude that is. I had to wait a long time to be taken for a gel manicure even though there were operators not working. The male nail tech tried to cut my previous nails off until I said something to him. He was very unpleasant. I don't think he understood me and he cut back my nails to be very short. The instruments he used came from his case and did not looked sterilized. The towel used was dirty like it had been used before. The "hot towel" was too hot and I told him so and he just smiled and said "thank you". The price of the gel manicure was cheaper than other salons but it did prove to me that you get what you pay for. I have learned my lesson, I will not go back there. read more

I was pleased to know that I was getting all fresh Towels and everything the thing that really got on my nerves was the fact that I'm military and the lady put a sparkly clear coat on top of my French manicure this isn't in regulations and I could get in trouble. **BEWARE** DO NOT GO TO 5 STAR NAILS IN NEW BERN!! Ok so I went there on 3/19 to get services done mind you I have been going to this place for 3 years. My bill was $95.00 I also get text alerts that show the date and time. On 3/22 I checked my transactions on my bank account and it shows $120.00. Ok so I immediately call to file a dispute. I called Cathy that morning to advise her that she overcharged me (wrote in tip) she said ok well I have copy of the receipt come here so we can look at it. I said well I am on my way to work so I'll just let the credit Union handle it. So long story short the bank denied it I guess by what she told them. I called her last night and advised again that she overcharged me. She once again said I have the receipt come up here. So I went today and she tried to add up what services I got saying no this was this price I said no you charged me 95.00 dollars and I signed for that price. You went back later and added 25.00 to my bill that's stealing. She said no I did not steal from you. I said well if you supposedly undercharged me why didn't you tell me when I was in there signing my receipt. She said you rushed out the door which is a lie bc I said have a good weekend. She still persists to say they she did not steal from me saying that's small money, I said I don't care it's still my money!! So I said Cathy I want to see the receipt. She is like why are you yelling and talking I said bc you are not listening. She like I have customer I'm like ok that's cool but I need my money now!! She said ok sit down I said no I'm not give me my money and where is the receipt!! She said you didn't wanna pay I said I got money and paid for my services you stole money from my account.. if you wanted a tip that bad you should have asked!! She finally got the lady to give me my money, she said I can't believe you I said I can't believe you and walked out!! Y'all I was so upset bc I was going there faithfully for 3 years and you overcharge me(steal) They don't care about us no way!! When I went here, the lady was scrubbing my feet and cut my heel. The nail polish also started chipping the day I got my nails done. I am thoroughly disappointed at how bad the service was. The people working there barely spoke English and only really talked to each other in another language. I go to school in Raleigh and whenever I'm back home, I always go to 5 Star Nails to get my eyebrows done. I've been to several shops in the triangle area and no one seems to know how to do shape and clean my eyebrows the way I want/need. The lady here knows how to get them done right and at a very reasonable price. Now all I do is pluck my eyebrows myself until I get a chance to go back home at New Bern and get my eyebrows done. They did a great job with my finger and toe nails. Very courteous, polite nail technicians and they even speak English which is almost unheard of up in Nj. A better name for this salon would be One Star Nails. I'm a former nail tech and just moved to New Bern from Texas. DO NOT go here. A guy changed the polish on my toes and kept implying my nail tech in Texas didn't do well on my last pedi. She did a great job; I just wanted a new color. Another girl did my nails. Very unfriendly and did a terrible job. I brought my own base and top coats. She refused to use the base coat (you don't need it) even though I was very clear that I still wanted to use it. My polish looks like it has sandpaper under it, polish was on my cuticles, and the cuticles on 5 fingers were cut. When the guy rang me up (he appeared to be the owner or manager), I showed him her finished work and he said, "So sorry. That will be $25." I paid without tipping, will not go back, and will tell everyone I meet to steer clear of this place. read more

While she was doing them I noticed that she was plucking more than she should be but I thought maybe she was doing them right. No they were so thin that they didn't look like I had any.
