I went to 5 Star back in 2020 to get my Wrangler tinted for the first time as it was one of the most highly recommended and best rated window tinting shops in the area. Over the last six years, the tint on my Wrangler did not fade, wear, or deteriorate at all. Fast-forward to this month and I had to go back to five star to get a new window tinted on my driver's door after having my car broken into. Setting up an appointment to bring my Jeep in was extremely easy, the pricing was straightforward and upfront, and the work was done extremely quickly. They take incredible pride in their work, and the quality of their tinting shows. Based on prior reviews we went to 5 Star to have them tint our two cars, a relatively new BMW that I'm super careful about, and about 18 months later our Volvo. There were no problems making the appointment each time, and on the days we took them in, the team got stuck into it right away. Most importantly, both jobs were flawless - in the NC heat the cars are way cooler than they were before - we're very glad we did them in the ceramic product they suggested - and they look great too. It was clear from the first experience with the BMW that the owner here knows his stuff, and as careful with exotic vehicles as he is with regular ones. We also had a problem with the heat radiating through the front of our house, even with 2 year old new windows with low-e glass. The issue was the front of the house experiences full sun all day, making our A/C work overtime and creating uneven temperatures in our home. We again went with ceramic film recommended (made for homes). We were shocked to see an immediate minimum 10 degree temp reduction on the area where the first window was applied. With all the windows done in a day and as the owner was leaving, we thought it must have been cooling down outside, only to find it was still 91 degrees and hot as heck - the window film made that much difference. Wow. Overall the experience was exceptional because the owner is a great guy, responsive, careful, and really knows these products and how to install correctly, and the price was great. We chose 5 Star to do our home because of our experience with the cars, and the house install proved again that we made the right decision. As I type this, the house already has more even temperature throughout, just 1 hour after the install was completed, and again, the install is flawless. I went with 5 Star Design to tint my daily commuter due to all the positive reviews on here and other sites. Unfortunately, doing so ended up be a costly mistake on my part. I paid 280 and in the end it will probably end up costing me over 700 dollars. When I received my car after the first attempt there were the usual spots that are always there when the film is curing. However, after 4-5 days of drying it became evident that there were creases and dirt spots in almost every window. Some were worse than others. When I brought this to the owners attention he said to bring it in and they would take care of it. So I brought it in to have the window tint redone and unfortunately the second job was not any better. Only 3 windows where "fixed". The others apparently met their standards including the rear window that is shown in the pic. There are creases that are over an inch long that are plainly visible. The two front windows were both redone but both have creases in the film. I was told that its a VW thing due to the felt window lining, but these creases are in the middle of the windows and are not hair or fuzz related at all. I also own an Audi RS that has the same type of window linings and the tint job on the car is spotless. To be perfectly honest I have never had any issues getting tint done on any of my other cars. On top of it all they did a poor job removing their previous tint attempt. There was glue particles all over the door gaps and they scratched two plastic windows trim pieces that I will now have to replace. So now I am out my 280 and have to pay another place to redo the tint, plus the cost of getting this tint removed. Not to mention the cost of the two trim pieces that I will end up replacing. I assume I caught them on two bad days since the other review are so good. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience and in the end its cost me both time and money. read more

I dropped by to get a quote on getting window tinted for my Mustang. They said they could do it and asked if I wanted to wait while it was done? That's awesome, though I didn't hangout, but appreciated the option. A few suggestions were made related to things I could do to make the Mustang pop, you know Up-selling ; I fell straight into it too--I was not disappointed; the work was simply amazing. Got the windows tinted and hood spears. All the work is warranted and the pricing is better than fair. I got my new Lexus tinted here and it's been about 2-3 weeks and it has so many runny spots from the liquid they used and also in the front windshield it has marks of where the liquid was running from the tint it was a long wait and not done well but the price is nice I can't complain about the price read more

Where to even begin. My experience with David was nothing but spectacular. I brought my BMW 335i convertible in to get tinted and not only did David do amazing work he was extremely helpful in other aspects. I am not originally from North Carolina and I have not procured a relationship with a mechanic or car shop down here yet. When I brought my car in, David was nice enough to go through all the details with me and give me recommendations for places to get other work done to my car (custom exhaust, specifically) Additionally, I am not mechanically inclined at all. I am an accountant and I had asked David if he could spare a minute after tinting my windows to throw on some new wiper blades I bought for my car. No surprise, I bought the wrong ones but David left me a note in my car and pointed me in the direction of where I could get the correct ones. Dave did a great job! He removed my illegal tints and replaced them to pass inspection.... they look perfect. He even did a quick rinse on my car since it had been awhile since it had been washed. Even though the job was a little more work than he had anticipated, he stuck to the original quote. I definitely recommend 5 Star Design! Hey! Hey! So I had my front two windows tinted to match the back windows in my car, it took only 30 minutes if that. I sat in David's driveway, watched him, and chilled. I really appreciated that because I was fitting it in between other errands I was running that day. As others, I read the reviews on Yelp and was impressed. I first went to another shop in Garner just as a comparison and got a price. The guy looked at it and said it would take 3 hours and gave me a price. I called David and he said it would take 2 1/2 hours and cost 30% less. David uses Aegis film, which I researched and was impressed. David did the work in less that 2 1/2 hours and I can tell you he does excellent work. I am more than satisfied and have sent him another customer. Don't waste your time looking around and if he cannot get to you right away, wait for him you will be glad you waited. read more

This company does a lot more than their name states. I brought it in for some basic wrapping and David came up with some other excellent ideas of other things that they can and did on my car. Some of the wrapping that I requested, they had not done before due to the detail of it but even though it would take more labor to do the work, they didn't charge me more and they did it perfectly and everything looks great and everyone is impressed. David can preform miracles that several shops told me couldn't be done!! He was able to tint the break lights on my BMW 650i with film even though they are designed in such a way that made the process impossible for other shops to even attempt.
