Mr. John Geary (President of 4 Change Energy) Mr. Troy Captain, (Director of Customer Operations) Great job Troy at being unknown, your customer service reps don't know who you are. I'm saddened to learn what terrible customer service I have had at 4change Energy when I called to cancel my service because I was getting out of the Army and moving to a place where they have an Electric Co-op. First of all, I never signed a 3-year agreement with 4Change Energy as my provider and have never and would never sign a contract for an Energy service. My electric was set up by a rep at my property managers location. I find it sad that your customer service reps said that I will get an early termination fee if I didn't provide them with the PO change of address that I was moving to or a bill from my next electric provider, bill of sale on a house, new lease agreement and a bunch of other things to prove I'm not staying in the same house and just switching electric companies. I don't have to provide ANYTHING.. As I said I am in the Army and ending my time in service. It is against the law for a soldier to be charged fees when they are ordered to a new location. Please take care of this matter and educate your customer service on giving great customer service. Everyone isn't leaving 4Change Energy for another Energy company at their present location. I feel that 4Change Energy wanted proof of why I was canceling my service and that is unacceptable that people are taken as liars until they provide proof that they aren't. Remember all those troops that gave sacrifice and the ultimate sacrifice so Americans can be thought of LIARS until proven otherwise. It really sucks that troops fight for the freedoms so that companies can rip their customers off and over charge for their products. My name is Jordan Phillips I lived in stephenville Texas in two different homes. I have dealt with this company for a year and I would not recommend it to anyone. For a countless months I've been told about the wrong information. Lies after lies I was told by the customer service representatives. I was given the wrong electric plan by the company which cost me hundreds of dollars. Did not get a cent back after they realized there mistake. All had was an apology. I even wanted something so simple like paper billing. Dealing with roommates it keeps things organized. They said it is a one 20 dollar charge. I asked for it in February- March 2020. It's is June 2020. My contract is up and I still didn't received one paper bill. Now they are asking for more money for the rest of my bill on my contract plus the late. This company has horrible billing practices. Just send me a paper bill... update auto pay when I give you my credit card. That's all I ask. I have money. I make good money. I'm willing to give you that money. They don't email bills properly. You have to pay $20 to get paper bills. They will however very reliably send a disconnection notice with a $5 fee every month. FINALLY! A great company that rewards it's existing clients. The norm these days is for the electricity retailers to draw you in with a low rate and then hike it up when your contract period ends. These guys are seriously different. This is my second time since my contract ended that they offered renewal at same low price that I initially signed on for. What integrity! My rating is based on value for your money. Their rates are extremely high considering my low energy usage. For example, I'll be paying about $80 for my current cycle even though I'll probably use closer to 300kwc this month due to travel, and they offer no rollover options (at least none I was informed of when I signed up). The alternative plan would require me to use over 1000kwc a month to pay a slightly lower price, which is obviously not doable. Transferring service from a different unit last year was also a hassle. Overall DFW does not have many good and affordable options based on my limited research, but I can confidently say this is the worst cost and value for my money I have ever experienced across the state. There's not exactly anything that can be done except find a different provider in a few months to avoid fees if I switch now. read more

At first, I thought I was being screwed over by this electric company and then I did a small amount of math and realized I was paying around $5 a day for electricity. I use A/C all summer long, all day and all night so I thought about it for a minute, was that worth it? $5 in 24 hours? Duh. Yes of course it is. Then winter came and my electric bill went to half of what it was during the summer and hell yes that's also way worth it. Needless to say I haven't said anything about it until now but I'm extremely happy with the amount I am paying with this company. My home has zero insulation and it's really cold in the winter and quite warm in the summer so if you think about it, $5 a day summer and between $2.50 and $3 a day in the winter really isn't too bad. I understand that some people would like to try and make their bill smaller every month by turning things off etc, I am not one of those people I have to apologize for thinking that I was being ripped off, I just renewed my contract the other day and did so without concern. 4 Change initially won my business by patiently allowing me to research several other energy providers and keep getting back to them with what I found. They ultimately offered me the lowest price for kwh and saved me hundreds of dollars the first year. This included a weekly report of my energy usage by day of the week. It also included getting me through the Texas ice storm of 2021 with no increase in my energy bill due to the fixed rate. At the end of that contract, they offered to renew with an increased rate more comparable to the other companies, but still lower, so I chose to stay with 4Change. No hassle, just click the button and they make the change.What makes them stand out, however, is the way they communicate with me- like I am a person they really care about and want to keep. For the first year this company was fantastic. We had a phenomenal rate and never had any problems. For some reason, unknown to our roommate and I, our bill started to increase by 50% a month with little change to the kWh. In trying to get down to the bottom of this problem, we have called and emailed trying to get help. They have been extremely unhelpful, even going so far as to take me off the account whenever I've been added by my roommate so that they can't "discuss" this account with me. It has taken us almost four weeks to finally speak to someone who could possibly help us, when we did my name was suspiciously taken off the account and she refused to answer our calls when my roommate called back to add me onto the account..... again. Don't waste your time on them, they certainly wont be helping you. read more

I wouldn't recommend them. Tried to set up an auto payment arrangement 3 days passed due date and they refused because they rather charge their customers $100 in late fees, and i am not over exaggerating. The contract was ok at first until they started adding different type of extra fees and its not much you can do when you're in a contract. read more

This is the worst ever! Stay away. Was getting fraudulent charges for nothing! I was being charged over $500 for my electricity saying i was using over 4,000 Kilowats! I knew this was BS since its never been that high! So i took a pic of my meter the beginning of the nxt month and I wasnt home hardly at all, had my pool turned off, hot tub turned off, ac even off. They continued to charge me over $500 a month! FOR NOTHING Really, so i called them, told them i was getting fraudulent charges and of course they denied it but then mysteriously the nxt month my bill was 175, after i turned everything back on and resumed my normal activities, It continued that way for 2 months. Then after the 2 months i got my ac unit serviced and saved a ton of energy and my bill went up over 330 a month! Really, had enough, switched today, they are so dishonest and will charge u fraudulent charges just bc without any refund or credit, I mean if u dont call and complain, they will charge u whatever they feel they can get away with! Here is my email to them after arguing hours on the phone. Hi I see that I am charged $255 for early termination of the service on my investment property at .................. This is insane. When I had this service, I told the representative that I bought this property and will be flipping it which means I will sell it in few months. He told me, the best will be month to month service to avoid early termination fee. Now when I called to cancel the service because I sold the property, I was told that I have to send proof otherwise $255 fee. Really? Then whats the month to month service mean? I currently have service with you on my primary residence as well which is located at................ Honestly I am completely dissatisfied with your service. Their customer service is a joke. You can get NO HELP! They enrolled me in auto pay without my permission. I called them they promised to take care of it. And it happened again. Then they stored my credit card information without my permission. Very shady company. And customer service is nonexistent. Doubled my rates when the snowstorm hit. They lost data and allowed more time to pay the bill but doubled the amount of the bill. If you lost data how do you know how much to charge your customers? They were great until this happened and they lost my business. read more

I was about to give up when I asked to speak to a supervisor. I'm a current customer and sold my home and told 4Change to xfer to Address A but changed my mind and asked for Address B instead. I got in a vicious loop of not getting A turned off and B turned on. I spoke to 3 or 4 CSRs but couldnt get what I wanted (i.e., send email confirming current address active till 10/31st, A would be terminated and B turned on 10/28. I got 2 emails saying A was a go and 1 that B was a go also - huh?! Finally I asked for a super and was got Carlos who listened, didn't over talk me or give a LONG monologue about their processes and why they couldn't term A and redirect to B. I appreciated hi' follow through and then Jarrold's followup emails. 1 for me to share with current service would be on till EoM, A being cancelled and B scheduled to go live on date needed. I was ready to try another service but glad I hung in there. I'm not giving 5 stars because it took asking for a super when it should have handled at CSR level. This company has poor customer service and no accountability for their errors. There was an overpayment on our account and received a billing credit. On their own statement it shows the credit, however an miscellaneous adjustment was made that was shown as a charge and this resulted in a disconnection of services. In order to restore services a double payment had to be made because of their error. Time and money was lost because our power was cut off for several hours. By far the worst experience me and my wife has had when dealing with a company. read more

DO NOT SIGN WITH 4CHANGE! This is by far the worst experience I have ever had with an electric company. I arranged to have my service switched over to 4Change yesterday, to which they specified there would be no interruption to my power during the switch. My power was shut off to my home in the middle of the day. It has now been 17 hours since I've had power. I was on the phone with their terrible customer service for hours yesterday, calling in 3 different times to try and get electricity to my house because their incompetent company couldn't send the activation requests properly to CenterPoint. I had to call CenterPoint myself multiple times (why am I doing their job?), and each time they explained 4Change is sending the move in requests improperly (backdating the request causing it to get rejected repeatedly). I have hundreds of dollars worth of food in my fridge and freezer that is now ruined. I still do not have power in my home after 17 hours. I had to pack up my stuff, my dog, and my girlfriend and go stay with relatives for the night because I have no heat, no AC, no lights, no hot water, nothing. I will be seeking compensation from this terrible company for my losses. I wish I would have read their terrible reviews before signing up. read more

This company advertises great rates but when your light bil comes in and it's $322 for a one bedroom apartment. I was working 10 hour days so that means that at least 12 hours out of the day I wasn't there. Also made sure the thermostat was turned up to around 75 during the day. Horrible horrible horrible. My month to month rate was about 7.5 I understand it is a variable that can change. I noticed last month I was paying 14.5..... I did a secret shop pretending to be a new customer and there going rate on month to month was around the same as when I had started so then I revealed to them that I am a customer on month to month already and paying a much higher rate. That top paragraph happened in about a 5 min period. I was then put on hold for 36 minutes and 28 seconds for a supervisor who never made it to the phone and instead had relayed the msg to the same guy I was already talking to. My entire phone call was 63 minutes and 48 second Over the past 3 months I have overpaid them $327 and only received a 25$ credit and they tried to present me with a 5.3 rate which probably didn't include the charges that went along with it I have been scammed with proof. I would strongly recommend not using them *update* thanks for leaving me a comment and letting me know about the FAQ section. I do not believe signing up for an electricity plan should be as complicated as it is. I build houses, my family's GC company has been going for 30 years. Basically what I'm getting at is the excuses are not cool with me. I owe y'all money right now because I kept getting the run around on the phone for a week straight so I switched companies. I would gladly take this review down if y'all could contact me and make it right on what I actually owe y'all. 4Change Energy has saved me money for the past 5 years! They send me weekly and monthly updates on my usage so I know how much my bill will be so there no surprises. I have a large family of 8 with teens so they're always washing and drying and yes they always forget to turn off the lights! My bill usually $120 or less in the fall thru spring but now it's so hot in South Texas so now my bill's $250 or less which is really good! I have some friends say that their's $400 or more! So I'm always staying 4Change Energy for life! read more

I never had any problems with their service. One bedroom apartment renter here. My apt doesn't have the best insulation or sealing from the outside so it gets cold by the windows and door. Also I had the green saver package so my bill was expectedly a little higher. After my contract was done, cancelling my service when I moved out took 1 min. They also send raffle offers and discounts sometimes in email newsletters. read more

Asked for building I own to be switched to 4Change Energy. Got email confirming that they would switch it. They could not switch it. Did they tell me and let me know. NO! After about three weeks After no communication with them I contacted them and then they told they could not switch. The courtesy to tell that at the start was not there. Left a very bad taste in my mouth for 4Change Energy. Finally got Just Energy to be my provider. Beware and follow up with them for they will not tell if they can't do it. One of the worst energy companies to deal with. Not only will they place you on hold for 30+ min. They also will swindle you. They exercise no justifications in their findings especially when disputing a bill. There is no reasoning, especially when dealing with their customers, who remember are the "customers". They manipulate the billing cycle dates to keep you from hitting the cheap amount of kwh. One bill had 21 days (7 kwh shy of 1000) one had 34 days (would have been over 2000 if I hadn't turned off the A/C). DO NOT GET TAKEN - RUN. read more

I do not even know where to begin with this company. I have never before experienced this level of incompetency in a company. In march of this year, they did a system upgrade which effectively put everything on hold. I called the company directly to make my payment for the month of March 3 times and was told 3 times that we would be notified when the system upgrade was complete and we could call and make our payments at that time. Then I received an email notice stating that my account was delinquent and I would experience service interruption if I did not bring my account current immediately. This email was sent out before the email notifying us that the system upgrade was complete. I was livid and almost to the point of changing service providers. However, I paid my account, logged a complaint with the company, and decided that if something else happened I would switch. Tonight, at about 6:00 PM, I (and I am sure a multitude of other customers) received an email stating that I had only been charged half of what I was supposed to be charged for the past 4 months and now owed them over $300. Never mind the fact that one of these months we used about 1000 kWh and in the past four months we have not gone over 1500 kWh (we live in a small house). I attempted to call but was told that the wait was over 20 minutes and they stopped taking calls at 7:00 PM, so I will have to call back tomorrow. I cannot warn anyone enough to steer clear of this company. Their customer service is atrocious and their business practices are questionable, if not outright unethical. read more

I constantly compare rates when my energy contracts are up and this is the first company I have been able to stay with for over 2 years! During Harvey, the energy flickered only once. I am just counting down the months so my husband and I can switch to a different electric company because I don't want to pay the cancellation fees, otherwise I'd already be with another company. Basically they shut off our electricity without notice and we had payment on file the entire time. They claimed that we didn't pay and that they sent us a notice in the mail, but we never got any type of notice in the mail, email or phone. My husband had switched our card on file (since our current one had fraud and the bank had sent us a new one) the day payment was due and we received a confirmation email that everything was good. Over TWO WEEKS later they shut everything off, again without notice. My husband thought the whole street was out for the majority of the day. It didn't cross our mind that it would have gotten shut off because we have never missed a bill in our life. It was just ridiculous because after it taking a full 24 hours to get the electricity back on and all my groceries going bad and having to stay the night in a hotel, they were going to charge us a shut off and turn on fee. I called to complain and had people tell me a manger was going to call me back, 3 times... no one ever did in s span of a few days. I finally called again and said I was not getting put on hold again and after arguing with some lady for 30 min, they finally agreed to waive the fee. THEN they proceeded to tell me how to pay bills and accused me of not having money, which is "Why I didn't pay on time." How embarrassing to have someone tell you that when again, we had a valid card on file with more than enough money to pay 6 months worth of electricity. It was just so belittling. Lastly, they seem like the cheapest, until you sign up, get your first bill and then see all these random service charges. They are just as expensive as any other company. My electric bill has been either $71 or $73 per month, for the entire year I have had 4Change Energy. From Houston's balmy summers to one of the coldest winters, I never worried about the cost skyrocketing. My friend, with a larger apartment, told me his electric bill for January was $350 because of the unusually cold month, and he thought he had been conservative with his thermostat. I realized then that I had been taking my consistently low, consistently reliable and no hassle service for granted. He had to tighten up other areas of his budget for the unanticipated extra cost of electricity. I was grateful that had not been my experience, thanks to 4Change. read more
