I noticed my bill was going up for a very small house and discovered even under contract, they were charging $.14 per kilowatt hour, and slipped me into a two-year contract with a cancellation fee of $299. They've been overcharging me for the last past year on a two bedroom apartment for $300

Pool service. After my cancelation on April 1st. I owed electricity from March 16th to April 1st which they claimed to be around $88 which is still pretty high but I let that slide then they tried to say that the total comes up to about $386 because of an extra charge of an average usage bill meaning an average of what I usually pay is being added on my last bill. Which is a complete rip off coz I am only obligated to pay for what I used not what I used plus an average of what I usually use. Don't use them for electricity unless you plan on always paying more than your actually bill should be. read more

Most awful customer service I have ever had. My "delivery charge" went up 33 percent from 90 dollars to 121 dollars. Currently on hold with them for over hour with them. Have not given an explanation of increase in charge but just the same line about what the charge is. I'd stay away from them as much as possible read more

This was my first time enrolling in an electricity plan myself, and I regret choosing Ambit Energy. I was misled into signing up for a three-year plan that turned out to be around 45% more expensive than the average rates available in the market. They recommended this plan as a good option, primarily because of a so-called "reward program" that turned out to be completely useless. I didn't earn a single cent from it. When I realized my mistake and switched to a different provider, Ambit charged my credit card without permission and also hit me with a $299 early cancellation fee. Their customer service was incredibly frustrating, I had to wait a long time and speak to multiple agents just to finally get to a manager. I strongly advise anyone considering Ambit to carefully review plans from other providers before making a decision. Don't be fooled by their promotional language or rewards gimmicks. I'm just relieved I caught the mistake and switched, even though it came at a cost. Bottom line: I do not recommend Ambit Energy. read more

My place is a one bedroom unit with no central air/heating!! I use an electric fireplace to heat up 820 sq ft. If you try to cancel service prior to your contact expiring, they wanna charge $150 for canceling! I don't use this word often however, I absolutely HATE Ambit Energy! Liars & thieves! I've had Ambit for 2 years now and never had any problems. In February all of a sudden my electric bill was $690. I never use that much electricity and I even went back home for almost two weeks so it's almost impossible to have that amount. I went on a deferment plan and even now my bill is almost $300 a month which is insane to me, I turn off all my breakers except the fridge and ac cause I have pets and it still costs me so much. They're were the first people that were recommended to me when I moved to Texas so I just chose them. I can't afford to end the contract but once I get the money I'm out. Ambit Energy is a corrupt company that makes money by extorting money from customers. My previous bill was for $60.31. My credit card did not go through. I updated the credit card and the bill was paid. On my current bill, I have miscellaneous charges of: electronic processing fee, $2.50, return charge $25.00 and returned payment $60.31. Since I had already paid the bill by credit card, I paid the bill of $60.31 twice, plus an electronic processing fee and return charge, just because the credit card did not go through the first time. So, I paid a total of $148.12 on a bill of $60.31 because the credit card did not go through the first time. This is the most corrupt company, I ever delt with that makes money through extortion. read more

The most awful customer service...I have a small 900 sq ft apartment my bills were never under 250....and to boot my November 2024 bill was almost $400 that's insane I have done nothing different nor changed anything but yet they can't give me a reason as to why my is so high...they just shrug their shoulders and say I don't know...I can't change it they will not work out a payment plan with you even though you have been with their company for 3 years(thought I was stuck with them) and never been disconnected or anything they are simply the worst most outrageous company ever never again....dont do it you will have so many regrets read more

If you are looking for an energy company, go with another company. Their customer service is horrendous and they lie. I called to confirm when my contract was ending, twice! BOTH times I was told 3/30/24. So I ended my service. Today I get a bill for early termination of contract adding $200 to my last bill!! When I called and spoke to two different people they act like they are so sorry but contact ends 3/30/25. I asked if they record calls and to go back and listen. I spent 25 minutes on phone for nothing!!! I hate that they can do this and if I don't pay the $200 my credit is ruined. This is some bait and switch BS and a way for them to make money. Beware! Their rates are horrible, customer service is horrible and they are scammers!! DO NOT give them your business!! read more

We have used Ambit for 5 or 6 years now, and have had problems the whole time. The biggest issue is that we did have auto pay set up and have for years, but about 2 years ago it suddenly stopped doing the auto pay (even tho we never changed from autopay to not autopay) and we only found out when our power was shut off. The first couple times was alright I guess, just annoying, but then it kept happening every month. We would re-enter the card and click auto pay and it says the card is there, but it never takes the autopay. We've tried calling them and no one seems to help. The final straw was when our son was born and in the summer of 2023 it once again went out due to the autopay not working, but then ambit said they couldn't get our payment at all cause there was something wrong with their servers, so we had to sit in a powerless house in the middle of a texas summer with a newborn. It was terrible and no one ever told us what the real issue was. Unfortunately my husband signed a three year contract with them right before that happened so we are stuck with them for another year and a half. And all this isn't even mentioning the price gouging they do. Tell me why as a small family of three who never uses the tv or things like that has an electric bill in the $250s? Make it make sense. Don't use Ambit as an energy company, as it's a scam (and constantly under investigation by the BBB) and has terrible customer service. read more
