4C is located in the Colonial Parking Garage that's under Whole Foods and District commons in Foggy Bottom.
Sorry, but this is what I get for trying to be cute getting my car washed while I went to work. I just thought these jacked up prices would guarantee a great wash...I learned my lesson.
It was just an average wash but I paid $35! It would have been $25 for the early bird special. I did get there early enough but they charged me $10 for SUV charge. I get it, usually I get a surcharge for my pseudo SUV but usually only $1-3 more. But, I am in DC so I just thought "suck it up". They were efficient, meaning it was ready when promised but probably because they didn't have to do much. The outside car was pretty clean and the best part about it was the drying of my windows. I appreciate how there wasn't drips of water when I rolled my windows down. Usually not the case at the drive thru or machine washes even when they hand dry.
So another good thing about this wash was the fact that the manager could tell me that this mystery dried gook was pine sap. But this was only after I pointed it out to him. He tried to wipe it off using glass cleaner. Not sure why he would use glass cleaner but he told me "this is the good stuff". Well that good stuff glass cleaner didn't get off the dried sap so I asked for his advice. He told me that this would require a hand waxing. Actually, when I got home I googled "how to remove pine sap from car" and got lots of free advice from YouTube. I was able to remove it in 3 seconds using a tiny tiny bit of hand sanitizer.
Inside the car- Vacuum job was just ok, I noticed they didn't vacuum the door handle area but I bet that's a detailing service? I still saw a film of dust as I was driving off. I don't think they wiped off my dash or anywhere. Would have came back but you gotta get outta dodge to avoid rush hour. I want to believe that if I had done a detail service, it would have been worth it but now I refuse to spend more money to find out. So my advice is, don't be cheap at a "fancy" custom hand wash place, just pay for the detail and they'll probably spend more time on your car.
The owner told me that he sends an email for a rating and that's how the tip is determined but I never saw an email-it's been 3 weeks. The funny thing is I actually park in that garage least once a week and I always park very close to the 4C station which is right next to the Whole foods section but I will never get a car wash from 4C again, not matter how convenient. read more
