451 is a distillery in Columbus. It's pretty hard to find. This is hidden along Indianola. It's a small batch distillery. This still has quite a good selection. It's kind of hard to find if you don't know the area. It helps if you know some of the bars. The distillery shares an address with India Oak. On Yelp it says it's in Suite C. This is more like a garage. It's in the building next to Wildflower Cafe. There's some parking spots between these. Any alcohol you're buying for the first time should be tried first. Good thing it has times for tastings. They also have a tour. Availability is limited. You sign up through the website. It's not like the bigger distilleries in Columbus. There's a limited amount of space. Each selection tried is something I would get again. It's real nice to go on a tour. The gin is good and so is the whiskey.

If you only go to one distillery while in Columbus please go here! I was drawn in by the photos of guitars hanging up, and by the interesting selection of spirits offered. I stopped in on a random weeknight and found the master distiller manning the shop solo. He's very affable and down to earth, and eager to talk about his spirits and process. What I love about this shop is how creative they are with their spirits. Their standard fare spirits, including rum, gin and whiskey, all have unique flavor profiles that show evidence of herbal experimentation. Their rum is barrel aged in fresh bourbon barrels, not used ones like everyone else does. The result is a more oak and vanilla forward taste. Their gin is balanced with so many different herbal notes that it's quite nice to drink neat, unlike all of the other brands that just taste harshly of juniper. The highlight for me was the absinthe. It was so beautiful, subtle and floral that it did not need the sugar cube. This is one excellent absinthe, and the only one I'm aware of distilled in Ohio. One last note... they have some crazy limited run spirits, including a pizza liquor where during distillation, the alcohol passes through slices of pizza and sun roasted tomatoes!

Good fun supporting a small local spirit company. The samples pack a powerful punch, not unlike their unique labeling. A fun way to spend a few hours and dollars.

Aging barrels are part of their unique blends!

We did the tour. It is very small and just really getting started, but the owner was incredibly welcoming and the tour was very informative! I really hope they are successful in the future! They have some really unique twists from flavored whisky to absinthe and rum!

a copper still in a workshop - The image shows the interior of a distillery or art studio with copper distillation apparatus, including a large copper still with a conical top and a long pipe. The space has industrial lighting, metal shelving with supplies, and a workspace with a desk and bulletin board in the background. The ceiling is lined with insulation and exposed beams, indicating an industrial or creative environment.

They make the best Gin I have ever had, it is genius. The aged Rum and Absinthe are pretty fantastic too.

This is one excellent absinthe, and the only one I'm aware of distilled in Ohio.

We don't have a lot of experience with dining in Logan, and 58 West seemed to have a great menu and…read morewas well rated for our one dinner while stopping in town. We ordered two drinks, a Moscow mule and N/A beer; the cashew queso, the deconstructed chicken cordon bleu, and the brisket mac and cheese. Drinks were great. The queso was super thick and more like a black bean dip, so that didn't hit right. Dinner arrived and looked great, but the chicken was bland and really just felt like a chunk of meat to get through. The mac and cheese was OK, but be aware it is covered in a sweet BBQ sauce and is more of a braised brisket than smoked BBQ. Our server was great, and the atmosphere was great. But all of that above decent at best food came to a total of around $100 (just about $30 per entree) for a party of two. My wife and I go about once a year for a meal that expensive and it is not for the quality of food we spent at 58 West. I'd say 58W needs to either lower their prices or the consumer needs to lower their expectations and head somewhere else.

Our crew of 9 spent the weekend at Hocking Hills and we were hoping to hit up a local brewery. We…read morelucked out with 58 West! In the small unassuming town of Logan, OH, sits this lovely restaurant that is winery, brewery AND distillery! There was something for everyone. It helps that it was a gorgeous day, so we got to enjoy their giant outdoor space. We were seated so quickly, and their cauliflower crust flatbread was excellent. You will have to try to sweet potato fries with the delicious cream cheese dip. Pairs well with the maple beer.
