I gotta say, they definitely live up to their reputation! I am a beginner bike rider, so I didn't know much about bikes in general. The person who helped me, Josh, was awesome. He was very helpful, kind, and patient helping me figure out which bike to try out. I was most worried about sizing, but he walked me through the process and helped me find a height that was good for me. After I finished my purchase, he walked through some things with me to keep in mind as a new bike owner. He even helped me put my bike into my car! The other workers were so kind there and had a wonderful sense of humor. It did seem like a great group of people working there. They have many options for bikes, and are also listed on their website. They have their own parking lot, but there is another parking lot behind their building where you can ride a bike around to test it out. All in all, the workers really know their stuff and were so nice. They have a cute dog there too that roams around the place! I'd definitely recommend this place if you are a beginner bike rider and nervous about making a purchase. But obviously, if you are an extremely experienced bike rider, this is also the place for you.

To my surprise, they had a lot of bikes in stock! We were greeted by Ried who promptly helped answer questions about various mountain bikes and allowed us to test them out. Figuring out the right height, learning how to use the different gear shifts, the seat mechanism, etc. He even educated us on the different brake mechanisms that have changed over the years. My friend ended up purchasing the bike and was very happy with the experience! We even got 10% off accessories on the day of purchase. I wandered around the shop myself as I've been in search of a bike for a few years and haven't pulled the trigger but opted not to purchase that day. When I called back a few days later, Jack was extremely helpful. I explained the type of riding I'd hope to do, my level of experience and goals, and he shared a couple bike options they had in stock! Plus, I'm only 5'2 so bike size was going to be very important for me. They had a Small and Extra-Small bike available at two different price points, but he wanted to make sure I could test it before making the purchase. Given the market on bikes, he encouraged me to put down a 20% deposit to hold the bike if it would take me additional time to come in and test. All in all, a very smooth process! Once I came in to test, he showed me the gears, how to shift, fit me for the right height bike and adjusted the seat. The bike road beautifully! He even helped me get set up with a lock, helmet, water bottle holder and all the necessities. He even installed the kick stand and water bottle holder for me before showing me how to remove the front wheel of the bike and loading it into my car. The purchase even comes with a free tune up for the first year! The cost of the bike was fair and the experience was pleasant! The only reason I wouldn't necessarily give this 5 stars is because of the hours. The shop was open 10-5 on Saturday and then 10-6 on weekdays. That just caused a little issue for me to come in without adjusting my work schedule since I decided to make the drive from GR to Holland. I would love the shop to be open an hour or so later for a little more convenience for shoppers. However, still a great experience and I'm very happy with my purchase. Now I just can't wait to go and ride!

Okay, yes, a bike is a little bit…read moredifferent, true, but it still feels amazing to bring my bike in with some brake issue or hopelessly flat tire and then - voila! magic! - have it fixed on the cheap! Central District does such a nice job! And such genuinely happy people too! They used to be located downtown on Monroe Center which was (not gonna lie) way more convenient for me. However, now they have a nice private parking lot / yard, which is a bonus when your bike is not rideable! Their repair services are generally same-day or next-day, but with a long enough wait gap that I wouldn't want to stick around or grab something to eat while waiting. They also sell new bikes and biking products, including snazzy helmets like my lime green skater helmet! I also recommend replying to their "rate us" email (comes as part of your receipt if you pay with a card), as it got me a non-expiring coupon for future visits!

The bikes are intuitively very easy to use and give a very smooth ride. We also had a great experience during the research and purchasing process. After having visited a few other stores where no one could help us or understood their products, it was a relief to find this store. The owner, Tom, takes great pride in his great customer service - took us out in the parking lot to try out a few different bikes, and what helped us make the decision is the warranty, and being able to have a brick and mortar to bring the bikes in for service as needed. They are not the cheapest out there, but we feel the investment was well worth it, and plan on using these bikes for many, many years.
