What a cool spot - part bike shop, coffee shop, bar, and music venue, Switchback Gear Exchange has evolved over the years into a fun neighborhood hang out place. I'm not a big bike person, but Nate has gotten into e-bikes recently so we've gone in for a few items and gotten drinks. On our most recent visit, we enjoyed some soothing live music out on the eclectic patio. I like that they offer non-alcoholic options in addition to beer, cocktails, and coffee drinks. They also sell locally made pastries and other goodies, including a selection of bulk snacks sold by the ounce - make your own snack mix to enjoy on their patio! I liked the hibiscus spritzer, a seasonal summer drink that I got last time. The employees I've encountered at Switchback have all been really kind and friendly. The patio is cute and cozy, but it does present some issues as the seating is either communal picnic tables or very low, small folding camp type chairs. Several people commented that they would not be able to get up from those seats when we were there last. I did see people bringing their own camp chairs, but some more accessible seating would be great.

Great gear and coffee for the local community. Come through! Oh but be aware. There is a shortage of bikes during these pandemic times. If you want something, they might not necessarily have it. At least you can talk to them and ask questions. Super friendly!

Cafe right next to the bikes and service department. Very comfortable feel.

I bought a used bike at a fairly high price and they didn't honor the one year warranty they'd given. Not impressed.

I wanted to take the time to write this review for #ThankYouThursday because we experienced excellent customer service and I really enjoyed seeing the vast selection of products that Bill & Paul's has to offer. They have limited capacity for shopping inside and appointments are needed for fittings of ski boots, etc. The store is large and has a huge selection of sporting goods, apparel, snowsport accessories, hiking and camping equipment, etc. We went upstairs to the men's apparel section and found the pants right away. The dressing rooms were clean and spacious and the employee helping us was super polite and informative, letting us know about their in-store credit that we received for making a purchase and how they work. All staff members were masked up and plexiglass dividers were present at checkout stations. If I had a specific sporting good need or wanted a new winter coat, I'd definitely come back to Bill & Paul's!

The employee we asked about snowboards seemed confused when we went up to her to ask about them. Another employee pulled up a paper pad " waitlist " and told us there was only one person ahead of us and someone would come find us. No one ever came up to us or called our names despite being on this waitlist. After looking around the store for a while, we sat on the couches by the front desk to wait. No one came up to us for a long time, so we got up to the front desk and they asked if we needed help. We said we were on the waitlist, then the younger employees looked at an older employee and asked if he could help us. We were waiting around for no reason, which was frustrating, with 5+ employees standing around doing nothing.

I attended an event over the summer that had a small market set up, and Public Thread was there with some products. I bought a "cube" made of woven fabric that's lined with upcycled billboard material that is water resistant and easy to clean - just wipe it off with a damp cloth. I use this as a travel dopp kit to hold my toiletries and makeup. The fabrics they use are all different prints, which makes it fun to browse their inventory as it's always changing. Public Thread doesn't currently have a public storefront, but you can find some of their items at the marketplace at Pack Elephant downtown by the Studio Park plaza, or you can order online from their website. I love the large duffel bags and small cross body bags. Public Thread items would make a great gift for the holidays, or any time!
