I asked to add pesto to my sandwich ( not for free) I was paying for it .she said no. Then as I waited for my order she Waived me away in annoyance? Or panic?, because I approached the counter and told me to move away . . " go over there or something " she said to listen to my number however I waived my right to a receipt so now I had to Go back to the counter and say I didn't have a receipt! . I was on vacation, visiting some friends and I found this local coffee shop. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere with a board that allows others to place business cards or approved flyers that help build a sense of community. The lattes, teas, and coffee I purchased were amazing, along with the breakfast sandwiches that just melted in your mouth. I went nearly every morning while visiting LA as my friends do not have the same coffee addiction I have. The staff were very polite and asked me a bit about Canada before I went back. In short, I came one day, the owner "Mary" was at the coffee shop and she refused to sale my husband and I a lettuce wrapped sandwich bc "they don't do that." I was extremely disappointed bc my husband even offered to simply pay for the bread but to omit it In my order. She refused to do so, so I gave them a lower rating and stopped coming for a while. I think 3rd Street Coffee must be a community favorite, because there's always a line when I am there - a good sized crowd. This is how Downtown Downey gets going in the morning. The staff is extremely accommodating, even if you have some kind of annoying diet restriction. The woman didn't bat an eye and helped me make a healthy decision, and thanks to a little twist & modification, all was well. My kids enjoyed their drinks and wonderful sandwiches and pastries. Finally had the chance to try out our local neighborhood cafe, 3rd Street Coffee and I'm definitely a fan. My husband and I had their breakfast croissant which was super yummy! I also had a Thai tea boba which wasn't all that special (I've had better) so took one star off for that. The people who run this place are very nice and I can see why so many locals frequent this place. I love that's it's got a local Downey hometown feel and I will definitely be coming back. I walked in and saw the green circle logo, for a minute I was confused Did I accidentally walk into a Starbucks? . But I clearly did not, this is a very local quaint coffee shop with a lot of the locals stopping in to be greeted by friendly barista's that appreciate the business. Great little spot for good old cup of coffee. Not as fancy as Starbucks but then your not paying Starbucks pricing either.

So I go to the movies across the street probably minimum of once a week . Unfortunately #MovieStudioGrill does have gourmet food but they only have three flavors and ice cream.My best friend loves ice cream and movies. Thank God for this place across the street. I know officially you're not supposed to take any food from other places into a movie theater. So we just go across the street before we watch a movie . It seems to work out perfect! I did notice there nonmeat options eggplant veggie sandwich looked super good !Good to know when you're in the neighborhood looking for something healthy to eat. read more

Definitely a hidden gem! After a long doctor visit, this was definitely much needed. Great food selection, great specialty drinks, and great ambiance. Street parking and outdoor seating available. We've been back twice since our first visit; good coffee, good sandwiches, and great ambiance is definitely on my go-to places for a nice breakfast. First time here, order the chicken "deluxe" ? and pretty much received no chicken. I was excited to order as I saw other yelpers recieve there food packed with ingredients and chicken. Unfortunately I was disappointed with what I received as you can see in the pics my sandwich had pretty much no chicken in it , just a small sliver of chicken for around 10 dollars this was definitely not worth it. In the process of yelping for brunch, I found this cute little spot. Glad I did, as everything I ordered was delicious. Wife and I had their croissant sausage and egg sandwich, Savory (home recipe) chicken salad croissant sandwich, chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake. She asked the person that made my sandwich if she added tomato. Of course she is going to say yes.
