I never had any experience with firearms until I took two courses with Prescott Firearms Training…read more The instructors are very knowledgeable, patient and emphasize on safety. I'm looking forward to future classes.

I've taken several basic and intermediate pistol classes / training. But since I haven't practice…read morein over a year plus I experienced a medical condition during that time, I saw a post for a Pistol I class that I was interested in taking. Also, unlike the other classes I've taken, this was completely a dry fire class with no live ammo. I know about dry firing. I've heard dry firing practice was an easy inexpensive training method to improve one's shooting ability. I even went so far as to learn how to dry fire: e.g., no live ammo in the room, etc. But I could never feel comfortable breaking one of the safety rules: placing your finger inside the trigger guard unless you're ready to shoot and pointing your gun at something you don't want to shoot. I know that most negligent gunshots stems from complacency bred by familiarity leading to violating one or more of the gun safety rules. So in my head, I did not want to become so familiar with pressing the trigger inside my home that I risk becoming complacent. I signed up for the class, prepared to go through a lot of the basics I already knew in order to gain confidence and competency to dry fire at home. Yes, we did go over the basics but quickly as the instructor apparently was assessing my skills and knowledge level. In the three hours, I learned several nuggets of gold that were never offered in the previous trainings I've taken. Seriously. And, I also achieved my primary objective of learning enough to gain the confidence to dry fire practice inside my home. Larry has a calm and quiet demeanor, but he definitely had positive control over the training with clear instructions. Also, I like how he didn't sell himself or posture as a "professional" as I've seen other instructors do, just to command their students' attention. He doesn't have to. What I thought was just going to be a supervised review of the basics turned out to be chock full of great learnings. He was ready and willing to give more but I cried, "uncle." I wanted to keep straight the new things I had learned so far so I could work on them on my own. He understood; he wasn't there to impress me with his vast know-how. His goal was clearly and sincerely to help me improve from where I was. I am so impressed and confident about what I can learn from Prescott Firearms Training that I plan to go through the rest of their offerings. I can confidently recommend Larry and Prescott Firearms Training to any gun owner, no matter what level they may be, to improve their gun management skills.
