The instructors were enthusiastic, encouraging, and extremely knowledgable. The facilities are amazing, well thought out, and very clean. Seriously, every bathroom was absolutely spotless. I would have to say that my favorite part about the course was that it was all action. We did not spend countless hours in a classroom learning theory by powerpoint presentation. Everything we learned we learned by doing on the ranges. If you have ever considered taking a course here you need to pull the trigger (see what i did there?) Because you will not regret it.

Last week I attended the Close Quarter Pistol class at Gunsite. I took this same course several…read moreyears ago and thought so much of the curriculum that I decided to repeat it. This time the instructor was Steve Tarani. Do a web search on him. He is a former "government" employee who is one of the best in the world in hand to hand combat and the use of edged weapons. He is also very handy with firearms too. This course is all about what to do when the bad guy(s) are close...and I mean like onion breath distance. Our class of 7 students received outstanding instruction during the 5 day course. Steve is a soft spoken and modest person who has superb teaching skills and everyone agreed that we learned a lot. CQP is an education that demonstrates real world situations up close and personal that can be dealt with using hands and then guns if need be. Gunsite is the largest and oldest shooting school in the world consisting of over 3000 acres that encompass excellent facilities. It trains the military, law enforcement and responsible civilians and is simply the best there is. As great as the facilities are the instructors are even better. It is why myself and many others keep coming back. I always look forward to my next trip to Gunsite.

There was also a gentle lady who worked there and call her a saint! She put up with their employees and all of our groups BS! What impressed me the most, in my opinion, it seemed like everyone loved their job there. Can you say it with me? #RARE This place was awesome I don't want to ramble on but they were great! Absolutely horrible customer service provided by the Vice President, Sherri…read more I scheduled their CCW class back in October for a December slot. A week before the class began I changed my mind and decided not to attend. When I went in to cancel my slot and receive a refund it turned into a huge ordeal. The gentlemen working the store (although pleasant) were unable to do anything to help me, instead handing me a business card for Vice President Sherri and directing me to contact her for a resolution. I sat in the store on what turned in to a 20 minute phone conversation with her. Sherri was completely unwilling to cancel my class and refund my money. I sat through a cringeworthy sales pitch (guided by some mystery man in the background of the phone call) about why they think they are better than other classes, the benefits of their class, and was offered multiple times to reschedule, none of which applied to what I was calling about. Sherri said they are not able to process refunds on classes due to the business eating the cost of credit card processing fees and reward points earned, yet still refused even after I offered to receive a refund minus these estimated costs. Adding to the confusion, she said if I go through the entire class and say I "didn't learn anything" then she would process a full refund, including the aforementioned fees. Sherri would rather go through all that headache and argue with a customer than simply do the right thing and refund my money to begin with. She seemed far more concerned with 'winning the battle' on the phone than doing right by her customer. The lack of refundability was also never disclosed prior to pre-paying for the class. I was offered store credit after significant back and forth, which I refused. After this experience I am no longer interested in ever doing business with Insight again.

Also, noticed they had an outdoor axe throwing target and decided to go inside. As we stepped inside it wasn't too busy. It was clean, nicely lit and was very organized. The staff was friendly, and knowledgeable. They had a variety of guns, and for kids they had GoatGuns and other items. They had a bathroom for customers which was well kept and clean. I didn't have time to actually go axe throwing or go to the shooting range but plan to next time I'm in town.

I like their holsters. Unfortunately, the sheath they make for the Buck 110 will scratch the…read morebolster. They knew what the issue was, built a new one, but it had the same problem. I showed them an easy fix, but they would not do that. Instead, they issued a refund, but they don't refund postage, even when it's their fault. So, be advised that while their holsters (without snap hardware) are fine, their knife sheath for the Buck 110 will damage your knife and cost you money for sending it back.

Word of warning: if you order a Simply Rugged holster with any custom options, like a non-standard…read morecolor or material, be absolutely certain that what they are sending you is exactly what you want. I payed extra for a dark brown pancake holster and received one in their standard tan color, which they would not return or replace. Wish I could be more positive, as the holster itself works fine, but paying $200 and not getting what one asked for is disappointing.

I found Copper Star back in 2021, when I moved from California. It was one of the first places I…read moresought in order to obtain instruction and firearm knowledge. I took their CCW class in October 2021 and have been a regular since then. Staff is knowledgeable and efficient. There is a rifle range and pistol range, as well as archery. The pistol range has six separate lanes and area for loading and personal storage. Clean and temp controlled, although not everyone cleans their brass after a session, so be sure to ensure your lane is clean before firing. I've purchased firearms through them and staff is competent and thorough. They offer hourly lane and firearm rentals as well as 6-month and annual memberships, which I highly recommend. The facility is perched up on a hill over looking the Verde Valley, located by the Yavapai Sheriff station/jail and Out of Africa. I do wish they had a larger selection of pistols for "try-out", and for sale. However, they can order anything for the customer. Highly recommend if you're visiting and want something fun to try..or if you're a local and want to brush-up, or maintain your skills!

I have been a customer of Dave's since he was still working in a shop in his yard. I was delighted…read morewhen he moved to Paiudin. He earned that "promotion" to a more traffic friendly location. I consider him and his wife and daughter to be friends, almost family. Over the years Dave has worked on close to a dozen guns for me, from simple adjustments to a complete cosmetic work over on a 1911, adding sights to two pistols and three rifles, stock work, tune ups, restorations, and more. I have send several people to him and they all were satisfied, even one man whose father's rifle was a $2,00 single shot .222 that was abused over the years and a wreck. He did a partial restoration on a Korean War bring back 1911 that turned out so well the customer's wife took it for her own and wont give it back. He had to buy a new gun for himself. I have had a few guns sent to him from out of state purchases...and one more coming soon. I have never had a problem with any of his work and highly recommend him to anyone who asks.
