Fun Evening of Darts & Coors Lite In A Genuine Honky-Tonk Bar!…read more SITREP There are other bars in St. Maries, but not many. And this is the ONLY bar you will want to go if in the mood for fun. THE SETUP They got darts (which cousin Dale and I availed ourselves of mightily), they have billiards (which the locals made good use of), and they got a bitchen jukebox which will let you "pull up" from a national digital catalogue for only a few tokens more. So an evening of Metallica, Def Leppard, Joan Jett and Sisters of Mercy (*cranked up* and enjoyed by everyone in the bar), Coors Lite and Darts was a great way to decompress and - for cousin Dale and I - a great escape the geriatric-set of relatives (our parents and their siblings) back at the homestead! OWNER-BARTENDRESS After changing hands a few times over the last few times, the ownership has settle nicely in the bar manager's hands and she is a very friendly, receptive person, and excellent bartender in her own right. PATRONS Mainly locals. [Cause...who else would be in St. Maries?] So there is a plethora of lumberjacks, logging-truck drivers, mill wrights, and everyone else associated one way or the other in this Potlatch Timber company town, as well as the townspeople from the associated businesses. Put another way, cousin Dale and I stuck out like sore thumbs. BUT....they didn't care, and since we were associated to the Fountain Bay homestead, they were downright friendly. PRO-TIP Park on the side streets, and head home on the other adjacent parallel streets so the bored sheriff doesn't try to tag you walking to your car on the main drag in front of the bar and driving away. [COUNTER-POINT: I can't and won't invalidate the experience of the only other reviewer of this business, other than to say, their situation was clearly a dining experience during the day, whereas cousin Dale's & my experience was solely the bar experience at night. So literally, "Night & Day" perspectives.] THE LOWDOWN A great little bar in the middle of nowhere (almost)! [Closing Note: on the survey tool that seems to come up with the most inane questions, I answered "Formal Jacket Required", cause that would go over REAL WELL with loggers & lumberjacks.] ;)

The sandwiches we got were delicious. However the dessert flight was not what was advertised. I was…read moreexpecting a brownie with ice cream, a cheesecake, and creme brulee. What we got was freezer burnt ice cream, a couple small Boston creme donut things from Safeway or a similar grocery store, more whipped cream and chocolate sauce, and another grocery store lemon pie slice with whip cream and more chocolate sauce. There was chocolate sauce on my debit card that was given to me. Overall the food was great ! Just avoid the dessert. That was not worth $20.. everything was freezer burnt and that was not the desserts on the picture nor was there a description of it being available desserts. Also our server told us when one item was not going to be fully available, the same was not done for our dessert.

I have to say, this the second "dive bar" in appearance that shocked me good…read more I came in because it appeared in a Yelp search but I had never heard of it. So, my wife and I thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did! We sat at the bar, even though there was plenty of seating, and were addressed by the server promptly. We ordered a chicken sandwich to share and the soup flight. The sandwich was great and the soups were really great! All three of them. I had a really good huckleberry cider and my wife a citric IPA. We both like our drink. As a bonus, they have several TV's to watch sports games on. They have a small patio for the warm days. We will be back for sure to enjoy good food, service and a fun time.
