CycleBar waterside is amazing! Here's everything I know from the past month training with them:…read more FOR BEGINNERS: I've been doing spin for about six years. If I could tell beginners one thing it is that you cannot have an ego going in. The instructors will give you a quick run down on how they teach, and always encourage you to modify where you need to. I am a bigger human who is out of shape at the moment, and I've not once felt out of place in this class. I'm pretty sensitive to instructors who talk about calories, "earning food", etc. and not a single instructor at waterside has given me those vibes. INSTRUCTORS: I haven't yet taken all of the instructors, but here's what I know so far! Keenan - I don't want to tell you how good Keenan's Tuesday connect class is because I don't want to have trouble booking in, but this class is high energy, fast paced, and incredibly fun. His class is good for people who want a challenge and lots of choreography. If you get bored easily, Keenan's class does not stop. ANY class can be taken by a beginner, but if you're new to spin I wouldn't start here. Bre - Bre's classes make me feel more connected to myself than any other class. If you love motivation and connection, Bre is your girl. I leave every class feeling happier. Her class is good for all experience levels and I think specifically great for trying to level up. There are so many moments where I've pushed myself to the next level with Bre. She knows how to get you there. Joni - Joni's classes are hard and fun. If you want to work on your technique and choreography I'd say Joni's class is for you. I'd say her classes vary in difficulty level, but it's never the same thing twice. I would say Joni's class is great for beginners because she is super helpful. She is uplifting and always has a smile on her face. Alana - Alana's classes are great if you love to be out of the saddle and not do as much choreo. I've only had the opportunity to take one class with Alana, but it was a great time. I think Alana's class would be best for beginners. I've taken team teach rides with Tyler and Alex, which just means I know much less about their teaching styles but here is what I learned: Tyler - Tyler gives you the opportunity to push yourself to the next level. She is super encouraging Alex - Alex is tough love and not in the way that makes you cringe. He wants you to push to your next level and is super encouraging as he gets you there.

Keenan is the BEST! He's energy and motivation is contagious…read more There are several instructors and all have their own way of teaching/techniques. Most classes are super easy and beginner level in terms of cycling so it's a great place to start if you never taken indoor cycling before. Keenan's class is a bit more for challenging and for experienced riders and his choreo is great. Always a good workout. So there's something for everyone here.

Found this place by accident. I was looking for a indoor cycling place that wasn't a gym…read more I have a home gym and didn't need to join another one just for spin classes. I was looking for something different that would break up my own gym routine. I found some places but the clients looked like young 20 somethings or your ultra athletes. I'm your average 40 something looking for like minded people who want to spin and don't care about who in a class is spinning faster or working harder. There is no need to be competitive if I just want to mix up my workout routine and lose weight. If that is what you like then you may not want to visit this place. I was searching Groupon to see what was around. Cyclone had just opened. Their grand opening was Jan 2015. This place had a special of 2 classes for $24. This may still be on Groupon. Cyclone is owned and operated by a married minority couple who love fitness. They both have a long list of fitness accomplishments. They are extremely nice and want you to succeed in your weight loss or fitness goals. They are great motivators and coaches. Cyclone has 15 bikes manufactured by a company called EVo. These bike can SWAY like real bikes. This helps work the core more. The handle bars are large enough to allow for many different hand positions. You can adjust everything of the bike. The handlebar distance to you is adjustable along with the seat height. You can adjust the height of the handle bars. You can move the seat itself forward and back. The bike can hold 2 water bottles and a cell phone. It has a display that works with heartrate monitor straps. It also displays the time of the workout and your cadence (RPM), calories burned and distance. It also has a light to help see it when the room lights are dimmed. The pedals have SPD on one side and regular shoe straps on the other. There is a red knob you turn left or right to add or decrease resistance. Cyclone does not have a dressing room or showers. There are 2 restrooms and they provide sweat towels. They also have a water fountain incase you forget to fill up your bottle. I've been going for about 6 weeks now and am not bored. The music is upbeat and they take music requests. You are up and out of the saddle lots. They also involve your upper body in the workouts. It could be doing punches while standing and pedaling, bending the upper body down to the handle bars and up or bringing the shoulders to the opposite handlebar. I'm sure the combination is endless and I would never be bored. Just recently they had 80's music week which brought back so many fun memories. The other clients so far, are 30 to 40 somethings. These are your average people just looking to get in shape. Everyone is nice and willing to chat with you. You don't get the sense there is a competition between you and your riding neighbor. I love this environment and happy I stumbled on it.

They make you mail in a statement with your contact information in order to cancel your membership. I mailed in a letter twice and they somehow have not received both. I have triple checked the address, called the Arlington location to get more information and it turns into a dead end. They will have you contact the "billing" department which is just their 1800 number and the wait times are ridiculous. It is all very frustrating to deal with. I give this review 2 stars because they have recently renovated some parts of the gym. I still like a lot of the machine options and the open space however the studio room is still locked most the time and customer service has been a complete pain for the past two months. I requested a refund of the annual fee due to the fact that it's an annual fee and I would not be a member beyond the cancellation date of 30 days (the end of July). I can understand if I had cancelled a few months after the annual fee, but considering the cancel request was on the same day, I asked for an exception. I spoke to the rep at the gym and she told me to call the "800" number. When I called the "800" number and asked to speak to a manager, I was told to send an email. I sent an email and requested a call from the manager. Instead, I received an email response from a lead customer service specialist. The email wecare@fitnessconnection.com seems like an oxymoron considering speaking to anyone beyond the "800" number is non existent and the bad customer service experience. I have no doubt an exception can be made, but Fitness Connection only cares about the money and not it's members. I will warn anyone and everyone possible to stay away from Fitness Connection.

WOW... this place is a VIBE!!!…read more Found Union Cycle & Strength while traveling through ClassPass... which, side note, is a lifesaver when you're trying to stay consistent on the road. And somehow I managed to line up back to back classes which is rare and honestly such a win... think cycle straight into strength... YES PLEASE. First off... I love that they're keeping cycling alive. Let's be real... the hype has cooled off nationwide and Pilates has kind of taken over, but as someone who rides regularly, I will ALWAYS show up for a true rhythm ride. And this... is a TRUE cycling studio. Beat rides, great bikes, incredible energy. The space itself... SO GOOD. It's this beautiful converted historic warehouse and they really leaned into the aesthetic. Walking in, you immediately feel like you're somewhere special. I took a cycle class followed by strength, both with the owner... and wow... she is an absolute GEM. Total vibe, super welcoming, and you can tell she genuinely cares about the experience. The cycle class had everything... strong cueing, on point lighting, loud music in the best way, and a sound system that actually works with the space. Also... microphone for the instructor... which should be standard everywhere but sadly isn't. Shoutouts throughout class too which I LOVE... had me smiling the whole ride. Strength class right after was more functional training with stations... everything clearly written out, well explained, and focused on form and technique. It felt intentional and approachable but still a great workout. I will say... I was a little hesitant booking at first. From the photos online, it didn't look very diverse, and as an Asian woman traveling, that matters to me. But I'm really glad I went. While it's not the most diverse space, I felt welcomed, comfortable, and it was all good energy across the board. You can also feel the community here... they host events, people know each other, and it doesn't feel cliquey which is important. Amenities check... yes there are showers, which I used... plus water station and the essentials. Just a heads up... bring your own towel, mat, and cycling shoes if you have them, otherwise there are rental fees. Also... the MERCH. Oh my god. So cute. I absolutely bought a few things... their branding is SO good. Only small note... the standard drop in rate is a little high in my opinion... but if you're using ClassPass or visiting, it's definitely worth checking out. Overall... 5 star experience. Amazing energy, amazing owner, beautiful space, and a studio that knows exactly what it's doing. Can't wait to come back!!!

I was originally a member at Planet Fitness but it just didn't have all the things I wanted so I started trying out a few other gyms. As soon as I tried out 24, I knew it was the gym for me. My favorite part is that they have both a dry and a wet sauna. I have yet to try the wet sauna but I use the dry sauna after every workout. Very relaxing. The best time to come here that I've noticed so far is after 9pm. That's when it seems to begin to slow down. Around 5-8pm I've observed is probably the busiest time because I guess people are coming to workout right after work. A good variety and machines and equipment that fit my fitness needs. All the staff has been very friendly so far as well. They have some products for sale when you first walk in such as T-shirts, protein bars, preworkout powder, etc. I really like the convenience of that. Check in is easy. You type in your phone number and then scan your fingerprint and you're good to go! They also have a pool and hot tub that I'm interested in but haven't used quite yet. The locker room is spacious and the lockers are nice & big. Everything is clean. Excited to continue my fitness journey and get these gains in 2019
