I just came by this ice cream parlor with my husband and our little girl dog this evening to celebrate her half birthday (she is 14.5 years old... As she gets older, I decided to start celebrating her half birthday). When we were walking towards this place after parking, we were surprised to see a few dogs (with their owners) walking out the door. That let's us know that 32 Below Ice Cream is dog friendly. When we walked in, we were greeted by two friendly employees behind the counter. One of the employees told us that they offer pup cups of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. My husband thought vanilla ice cream would be nice since she had received a puppucino from Starbucks yesterday. So that employee made one for her right away. I was really surprised how big the scoop was and also later finding out that it was free was really surprising. Then later on, after trying a few samples, we ended up getting the following for ourselves: Mountain Blackberry Revel, Kid Size, $3.50 prior to tax- I really liked the flavor of this ice cream. I think it is a vanilla ice cream with swirls of blackberry throughout. Butter Pecan, Kid Size, $3.50- I didn't have any of this but my husband liked it. He told me that he always likes to go with the classics. ---------------------------- (Total= $7.51 after tax, prior to tip) Because the employees were so great, my husband decided to give tip. We sat inside after we got our order, which was nice to be able to enjoy our ice cream inside instead of outside like we normally would do at other ice cream places that don't normally allow dogs inside. After a day at the lake, we wandered in here to give the place a try. Someone in our group googled it and said it looked like they had sugar free options, but there wasn't much on Yelp about it and I didn't see anything on their website. So naturally, I was skeptical. Sure enough it was a nice surprise to see that they had two sugar free options. Strawberry cheesecake, and vanilla. Note that their portions tower over the cup size so be prepared to get a larger serving than you think if it's your first try. Three in our party got the "double" two scoop and two of us got the junior. To be honest we probably would've all been okay with the junior size and I actually watched a family of 5 wander in and the parents ordered juniors alongside the kids. With that said, they were reasonably priced and the place seemed pretty clean. We all enjoyed our ice cream. Taking 1 star away for the following reasons: 1. If you weren't standing at the counter the staff members were on their phones the entire time 2. The Sugar Free Vanilla was old. The texture of it was weird, almost like it had chunks of caramel. When we mentioned it to the staff member, they told us it's because it's been sitting in there for forever and sometimes the top of it freezer burns over. Whoops. We were at the market place location and my friend was in line behind a bunch of kids a little before 9pm and the guy behind the counter served all the kids and when he got to my friend, he denied him service. There were about 8 kids in line. It if was past the cut off time why didn't he tell him when he first got into line. He gave no reason, just denied him service when asked why. I'm from out of town but this spot was super cute on the inside & connects to the sand which spot next door for those who want some savory. The girl behind the counter didn't seem the happiest, regardless she gave me some nice sample sizes before I settled on what I wanted. Great ice cream, rude staff. It's summer time and we showed up at 8:44, 2 people being helped in front of us. We are a family of 4+ had 1 friend with us and then a family of 3 walked in right behind us. The young girl at the counter stopped scooping and said to the 8 of us that walked in that they closed at 9 and everyone had to be out of the building by then. Then as she was helping us she said a second time to the family of 3 that she closed at 9 and if she wasn't done helping us by then she could not help them passed 9. Excellent ice cream however the shift working Saturday evening at 5:30 both the young lady and gentleman working handled dirty money then grabbed the cones for the ice cream. I told the young lady that money is filthy but since neither has been trained properly, I don't think they cared because as we sat to eat our ice cream, they continued to handle money then the cones. read more
