The problem is not our pilot or gas, it's the solenoid gas valve part that Chimney.com installed. (A master plumber has identified the issue 100%, but doesn't do gas repairs.) Since the whole device is controlled by remote, we know we did not break it--we never touched it ever, but the like-new fireplace did not come on this year. We were charged full price for the unit, which should have lasted for many years. Now Chimney.com is now wanting another $300 just two years later to repair. Paid a lot for a new unit. Chimney.com they says they are not responsible for quality of their products and will charge for labour to "evaluate" the issue. They act very folksy/ocal--until there's a problem, then they cut you loose. Be forewarned that you need to be lucky because they don't stand by their products sold. This feels scammy.

Every single step was carefully explained and communicated. The technicians were on time, pleasant, careful, clean and skilled. It simply could not have been a better experience. This is a company that provides old-fashioned standards of excellence at incomparable prices. You will not be disappointed if you are lucky enough to do business with them. Their pricing was competitive with other quotes in the area (and better than one or two popular companies whose name I won't mention but whose quotes were unjustifiably higher). We ended up using a different company for the work but that was mostly because they had availability a little sooner and a comparable quote; it was not a reflection at all on Winston. If I ever broke up with my current company Winston would likely be my first call.

They had someone come over to the house to check the other rooms had them pull up our floor boards to take a look then never followed up to actually provide the service. I have called both my point of contact and the office multiple times with no response. As a result I am having to go with another company to have the rest of our work done which is extremely unfortunate. I really dont post reviews that often but I just wanted to relay my experience as I use yelp for a lot of my home service projects and rely on honest feedback not just artificially generated positive reviews.

Bad business practice or a scam?…read more The technician who arrived to clean my chimney was fine, he arrived slightly outside the window but was courteous. However, our chimney was never cleaned. He shared that there were cracks and recommended purchasing an insert device or having the chimney lined. While he did not clean, we were still charged the full cleaning fee, which in theory would be credited toward future work. It has been 3 weeks and I have e mailed 3 times. The business is unresponsive. It seems like they just took the cleaning money and ran- scam or bad business practice? hard to tell.

They arrived right on time and completed the job quickly without sacrificing quality. Not only were they skilled, but they were also personable and easy to work with. They removed the broken glass from my fireplace, replaced it with new glass in a short amount of time, and thoroughly cleaned up afterward. The fireplace looks like new again. The High's technician did not inspect the fire box or damper. He was rude and extremely unprofessional. And clearly had some type bias. We found it astonishing that the company invoiced us for $285.00 covering the 10 minute inspection. On March 20, 2026, we had our chimney and fireplace inspected and cleaned by a top rated DMV chimney service. The new company spent 2.5 hrs at our home and informed us that they needed to clean the flu First in order for them to make a professional assessment. And did not see any need to issue any refrain from use order upon completion of the services rendered, as was done by the High's Chimney technician. Imagine a company conducting a ten minute inspection and then stating we needed over $15k in Chimney repairs. Our legal counsel will file formal complaints with all relevant regulatory agencies.
