Dined here last weekend with friends who had been before and enjoyed the experience, so hopes were high. The wine list looked good and items offered tasty. We questioned a menu item that was on the website, but not on the menu and the waiter informed us that they only do special events, not traditional meals and that nothing on the website would be offered, which seemed really strange to me--we called and made a reservation and they took it and now they're acting like they're doing us a favor by allowing us to eat there? Things went downhill from there, we ordered some appetizers, which took nearly an hour to appear, then our entrees even longer, three came out leaving our other friend with no food for over 15 minutes with no excuses or apology. I can understand a restaurant being overwhelmed or short staffed, but we were again reminded that they "don't really do this anymore and we should be glad we were allowed to eat there at all." Absolutely unacceptable. To add insult to injury, we asked for water glasses to be filled four separate times...it never arrived. One of our group is in the food business and remarked on the way out, "We're never coming back." read more

Went to 30 Main for the first time last weekend for my Cousin's Graduation dinner. It was clear that the wait staff and kitchen were overwhelmed with the large parties at the restaurant at that time; odd considering that they have a big banner outside advertising themselves as being able to accommodate large parties. It took a long time for any of the party to even place an order. And when it was placed it took a while to come out. Food was sub par, consistent with other reviews here. Probably because they were so busy, but it was weird that all of the food came out separate and over the span of 45 minutes-meaning that no one was able to eat at the same time. Another table in the room with us felt the same way joking "yay you guys got your food" when we cheers to my cousin's graduation. Wine was good and the waiter comped a glass for me since they were out of the one I had asked for (30 min prior to actually receiving it). I would have given this review one star instead of two if it was not for the comped wine. Some of the wait staff was friendly despite the slow service but when one in our party asked a question about if another order was coming to the table the waiter replied surly "I only have two hands you know..." In summary the place feels like it is not managed correctly. There is definitely an identity crisis going on- is it a bar, night club, restaurant? I will most likely not be returning as I don't live in the area BUT I'm sure you can find a better place to eat in Berwyn. Overall we had fun as a family, but not because of the service or experience. read more

Had a great outdoor meal in the middle of December with our infant and toddler. Honestly, was not expecting to be warm and have a great meal in an outdoor tent with snow on the ground. But our appetizers, entrees, and drinks were great!! Best burrata around. Appreciate how much effort has been put into staying open. read more

So I read all the reviews and was having second thoughts about signing up for our second band event but decided to give them a try. We arrived along with 48 of our band alumni. There was absolutely NO parking. Very frustrating. Parked in someone's lot, didn't get towed. Phew! Wa told to go to the back. Partly the fault of organizer since the room we were in held no more than 40. I was squished and had no room to move. I was thinking Yelp had it wrong then the unthinkable happened. As I came to the buffet line, there was no food. I mean every hot plate was empty. This has never happened to me at a buffet, ever. It took a good 20 min for new food to arrive, meanwhile everyone was done eating. The food was OK and for $50 per person was overpriced. Hence the reason for 2 stars. The desserts were cookies and little brownie like things. Tasty but I was expecting more. Appetizers were tasty. Chairs were covered nicely and waitresses were nice. If not for the great acquaintances, I would had spent the $100 elsewhere. There are several people who may disagree but read all reviews. read more

I probably should give them a 3, but I was happy when I left and I just don't feel like being hypercritical today. Didn't see much of the place. There was a small dining space as you entered and we were quickly seated there, we could see part of the bar, but never ventured from our table. We ended up there on that Saturday night, because a neighboring establishment had a half hour wait, too long for us. You can see the menu on line, and I agree with another reviewer, the place seems to have an identity crisis. The gentleman, dressed for the superbowl, who seated us also took our orders. He suggested the breadsticks to start and we were in the mood to listen and were glad we did. Three dips, they were fried and pretty darn good. Partner ordered the BBQ pork mac and cheese. I had the salmon. He was quite happy, if fact a few days later, he was asking if I could strip the meat off some ribs I had cooked to see if I could replicate it. He did give me a taste and I was charmed too. The first few bites of the salmon were pretty good, but this is where things got a little wonky. It was rare and I like it well done. The menu did note it was cooked to your liking and the waiter never asked and I never let him know. Otherwise our service was fine, though we're not very demanding. Coincidentally our bill came to $47, the same amount as our Friday night meal at Texas Roadhouse. We like to go quick, easy and a little sleazy on Friday nights. So you can see why I went with 4 stars. BTW, I took some leftovers home and the warm up in the microwave took the salmon to my liking. read more

My husband and I wanted to go out and try a new place for dinner the menu and pics online looked wonderful we called made a reservation and when we got there it had to be maybe 2 other tables being used the restaurant was empty I'm thinking well maybe this isnt their popular night we were seated and ordered the Mac and cheese wo/ lobster and bacon which taste like velveta Mac and cheese I ate as a child with crumbled crackers on the top okay so maybe this isn't their best dish my husband ordered linguine he said it was okay I ordered the crab cake entree presentation looked nice but the crab cakes were boiled with water still inside and the top had like a crispy look to the top but it was just a soggy wet crab cake the balsamic rice was salty and hard and I didn't even try the vegetables. The waiter was both the host and bartender, she was really nice we didn't complain we just said we were full the limonchello martini was ok. The bill came to $88 bucks and wasn't even worth $8 I will not be returning. read more

My husband and I came in this past Tuesday night. We were seated immediately and let the waiter know we had a Groupon. The waiter, Caesar, was fabulous , professional, and very attentive to our needs. He recommended the fresh warm cookie dessert with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and peanuts.We caved and ordered it and it did not disappoint..Also met the owner who came to our table to see how everything was and chatted with us for a few minutes. It's our second time there and just like the first time enjoyed the service, ambiance and the food. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place to others. read more

My husband and I like to explore restaurants and this was our first time trying 30 Main. To start with, the online menu on their website does not match the in house menu. The caprese online is $14 but in the restaurant $17. Entrees were all more expensive but included sides. The first app we asked for they were out of. We ordered the caprese and fried artichokes which were both good. We both ordered the short rib entree. It came out with mashed potatoes at the bottom with a layer of spinach and then the short rib. Why? Who wants their spinach and mashed potatoes to end up mixed together? They are definitely heavy handed with the salt but it was still good. We split the chocolate lava which came out with a ping pong ball size of vanilla ice cream. Why even bother at that point? We then heard our waitress shouting to all the other servers that there were only 2 more lava cakes left. To be out of one item and almost out of another item on your menu at 6:00 on a Saturday is very poor planning. The apps were the highlight of the meal. Probably won't return which is sad because we were very excited to try it. read more

This is a great place to eat. I eat there regularly with my son. There is a great atmosphere, I have never had any meal there that wasn't great, and the food is very reasonably priced. Wonderful servings and top-notch service! My teenage son & I attended our group's annual reunion dinner there this weekend (4/28/18). This is a sizeable group of over 40 couples typically in their 40's - 80's, and a tight-knit group we are! Our annual dinner was often held at another wonderful venue nearby but alas, we needed a different gathering place this year. Upon arrival, we were greeted by one of the owners as if we had just come home for a holiday! During the cocktail hour, the bartenders were pretty friendly, even preparing some rather nifty "unleaded" concoctions for my son. The spread of hors d'oeuvres was wonderful! Our group usually has a buffet, and this year was no different. I think the selection was a bit larger than in past years, and between my son & I, we sampled everything; It was all marvelous! In fact, we were happy to get to take home an appreciable leftovers box of the salmon & sauce, which made for a great lunch the following day. All of this for about the same cost per person as going to a nice chain restaurant, but with much more food variety and personal service. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but this specfic area of Berwyn has been around perhaps a century, so there are no typical large lots for anyone; Think Europe! Our organizer included instructions where to park, and on a Saturday evening it was no problem. For the mobility challenged, I'd recommend dropping at the door before parking in the bank lot for dinner. I can't wait to come back again next year! read more

For the past sixty (60) years, we have organized an annual alumni reunion dinner for an élite group of fellows, all now between the ages of 65 and 85. I have been in charge of organizing this dinner for the past half-dozen-plus years. Each year it is an exercise to find an appropriate restaurant that will take care of our minimal needs: good, wholesome food for a Buffett dinner, and a quiet space where we all can have sane, comfortable conversation without competing with live, or piped-in "music." The annual search is over! 30 MAIN Bistro is our annual restaurant of choice. It is a family-owned restaurant, and Michael DiDomenico, his parents, and staff are a delight to work with. From first contact two months ago, to the final details, they each could not have been more helpful and accommodating. For the first time ever, this annual reunion had a quiet room where we could each catch up on each other's lives. From the well-appointed, well-stocked cash bar, to the attention to detail in the dining room, to the especially well prepared scrumptious and generous selection of Buffet main courses and side dishes, I would have been willing to pay in excess of the fifty ($50) dollars per person charged. Having a family-owned business myself, I can fully appreciate the long hours and unending attention to detail required for any enterprise to be successful. I shall bring my annual reunion to 30 MAIN Bistro, as well as other events with which I am associated. Michael, I express my heartfelt gratitude from myself, as well as for all fifty-plus present to you, your parents, and friendly, dedicated staff for making this reunion the grand success that it was. OMG! We eat out a lot so I don't take it lightly when I say.....All restaurants should be like 30 Main and Mike for both food and customer service !! I ordered brunch online (curbside pickup) which was a very simple process. I was a bit late picking up my order, but on the way there Mike gave me a call. He was checking on my pick up, and then he notified me that that they were out of one item from my order. He then told me he included filet and shrimp! Plus chicken tenders and fries to compensate!! I mean come on! The item I had ordered was cheesesteak egg rolls for 12 bucks! He completely went above and beyond!He also told me that they were actually closed for brunch that day but he still made my order!!!! I can't tell you how many restaurants would have called and let me know that the online system was wrong and cancelled my order! I've heard so many good things about this place. The food was exceptional!!!! The crab cake Benedict was the best Benedict I've had in my life!! I will definitely be back to eat and drink in one of the heated tents this winter!! Literally some of the best service I've ever had. Came with my mom and older brother for their birthdays and they let us drink, dance, and eat long past the time I thought they'd kick us out. The owner was our personal chef even when I was sure the kitchen would be closed, the staff was down to earth and friendly, and the DJ knew exactly how to play for his audience. The food wad great, the drinks were great--easily the perfect end to our night and I would gladly return anytime. A+ across the board, 10/10 recommend. Can't say enough good things. read more

The food was very delicious: Italian wedding soup, seasonal salad, lemon sorbet, homemade manicotti, traditional thanksgiving dinner, scrumptious dessert, wine and coffee. Very friendly, family oriented staff that made us feel very welcome and part of the family. They were very accommodating especially as one member of our party was in a wheelchair. What a fabulous find!! Intimate restaurant... beautiful wood detailing & fresh flowers on table. Excellent margaritas from bar. The mushroom risotto was creamy and full of various type of mushrooms and the salad with fresh berries - good. Service was professional, and gave us space between apps and main course, as requested. A great place to dine and linger with a good friend - location easy to get to from our homes 7 they are right; parking nearby is plentiful. A plus that they happened to have a live singer/ guitarist that night. Noticed others dining solo at the bar, understandable as the atmosphere is comfortable. Surprised by the complete lack of attention by the bartender who didn't introduce himself or ask if we were interested in looking at a menu after ordering drinks, he seemed to be more interested in his dinner, phone games and music. To note we were the only people at the bar. After bringing drinks he then completely avoided eye contact with us until my glass was empty. Left to get dinner at a different restaurant! read more

This place has an identity crisis. It doesn't know if it wants to be club, sports bar, family restaurant or higher end restaurant. The owner is friendly enough but needs to be on kitchen nightmares. Do not eat the seafood!!! I ate one muscle and I immediately started feeling sick. The food was spoiled and when I sent it back the owner came over and told me that he has the best muscles on the main line and the muscles were fine and it was my taste buds. This restaurant is fabulous. A hidden diamond on the mainline. The food is delicious and fresh. They use ingredients that give the menu a unique and delightful spin. The service is also attentive. The owner, Michael, is always looking to keep the decor and the menu new and interesting. The front room looks like a jazz lounge right now. Another perk, parking right behind the restaurant! In addition to dining there as a family, we just hosted a reunion and all the guests were so pleased with everything the restaurant offered us from the menu to the service including the private rooms. 30 Main in the real deal. They have an extensive craft beer and wine list and top shelf libations. The food is beyond delicious and made with farm to table ingredients. The muscles are the best I've ever had. At this time, Thursday night is "All you can eat, mussels night." They prepare mussels in 5 or 6 different recipes. I had the white wine, butter and garlic. I wanted to take the rue home! And if I had asked I would have been given a "to go" container. The home made meatball melts in your mouth. The Beast of Berwyn is a 12" high handmade burger with every imaginable topping. It's one of those burgers you "eat at." There's no way you'll be able to pick it up. Mrs. "D" is delightful, warm and welcoming. Michael "D" is a master at creating really interesting and delicious meals and specials. The Sunday Brunch has a Bloody Mary Bar that is a meal all by itself! Fresh cheeses and meats and olives. The Jazz band knew we were Eagles fans and played Fly Eagles Fly during the game when the Birds scored. It was so much fun. Did I mention the pizza? You've got to taste the pizza. It's made from some special flour from, I think Italy or maybe just South Philly. But, the dough is really special and it's all about the dough.
