Adorable little coffee shop, which will become one of the closest to my new apartment, and already is definitely the closest to my yoga studio! O2 endorses it, so that was on my brain as I left a noon Basics class last Saturday and needed some fuel for the day. Coffee and tea is standard market price; I opted for a 16 oz iced tea for $2.75. They make a handful of breakfasty sandwiches, and since the credit card minimum is $8 and I was starving, I tried a sandwich with eggs, arugula, and feta on brioche. The server asked me if the bread would be okay (ostensibly because it had sesame seeds, which are an allergen, but I thought she was just being extra friendly), and didn't give me an evil eye when I used a debit card to pay the $7.75-- a quarter short of the minimum. Lots of glassware for the "for here" option, but they don't scoff at you if you'd like to take your food to go. Appreciated mini Ball jars for water as you wait. And it's not my thing, but they do offer vegan treats as well. read more

This is a good place to try for breakfast in the Boston area. It's counter service and seating is scarce, with lots of people taking up tables with their laptops, which is kind of annoying. I had the egg and feta sandwich on brioche and the Greek yogurt with honey. The sandwich was pretty good--not very remarkable, but the yogurt was very delicious. It's really thick, and is complemented by the little drizzle of honey on top. You only get three little dollops, but man it was worth it. I normally wouldn't be all excited about yogurt, so that's saying something. I took a dirty chai cupcake to go and it was pretty good. Definitely very moist, and the bitter espresso icing went well with the spiciness of the "cake." I tried my friend's lavender biscuit too, and that was good. It's pretty light on the sweetness, so if you like lightly sweetened baked goods, that's a good thing to try. Prices were fair overall. A week without 3 Little Figs for me is a sad week! It's such a cute cafe with a friendly staff. When I first moved the area and tried this cafe a few times, one of the baristas (no longer working there) remembered my name and often greeted me with a smile. It made me feel like I was home! Everything on their menu is lovely. Tandem coffee sources its beans and my coffee drinks are always on point. I love getting the iced honey matcha latte on summer days. I tend to linger over their baked goods display bc everything looks delicious. The lavender biscuits are heavenly flaky and fragrant; the savory scones are solid. For lunches, I always have to make the hard decision among the spanakopita, lox toast, or feta toast with tapenade. If I want a heartier meal, I go for the market sandwich which has a generous potion of prosciutto. It's the perfect place to load up on carbs, relax with friends, study, and people watch. read more

This place is so fun and unique. Maybe (probably) it was just the lettering on the menu board, but their offerings kind of reminded me of Flour's. I've passed by the cafe a few times and was intrigued, but I never would've guessed it would be so good. I love that they have a pretty extensive food menu, but also offer top-notch coffee and tea (I took a photo of the latte art in my friend's coffee, and--let me tell you--it was a GREAT picture). I enjoy the juxtaposition of this classy coffeeshop and its mostly residential, normal-looking Somerville neighborhood. A friend suggested we go after we finished finals at school. I'm always down to explore cute cafes! Biked there, and there's not much bike parking so we just locked our bikes to a pole nearby. I got the Village sandwich (roasted sweet potato, arugula, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, honey, olive oil on 7 grain). The sandwich was a bit smaller than I thought it would be, given that it costed $8. Think the size of sliced bread. Everything about it was delicious, though! I love the combination of honey, arugula, and goat cheese especially. This is great for vegetarians! Had a taste of the Market, and it was delicious as well. Definitely go for the full sandwich if you're indecisive, since it's more worth your money and you'll probably finish the whole thing. I visited 3 Little Figs with a couple friends for a casual Sunday birthday-brunch. We were lucky enough to snag a two-top and an extra chair, but the place is tiny and fills up FAST. It was full from the moment we walked in (11:30ish) til we left two hours later. This place is clearly a neighborhood favorite with Somervillains of all kinds, from families to solo newspaper-readers to Gal Pals With Alternative Lifestyle Haircuts to middle aged friends catching up over coffee. I loved the quinoa bowl, which was a little on the small side but fantastically delicious and very healthy. The baked ham and cheese sandwich got rave reviews from my brunch companions, but as a vegetarian I can only vouch for the cucumber on the side, which were drizzled with an infused oil and made me wish there were many more than three slices. The coffee is bold and well balanced, and soy milk doesn't cost extra. The chai latte, on the other hand, was weak and all-around disappointing. read more

This place is seriously the best! I have been a regular since they opened and have been impressed by everything I have eaten. Everything they make at 3LF is make fresh that day and has some special twist on it which makes it different (and better!) than you've had it elsewhere. For example, something as simple as a blueberry scone has some ingredient that I can't put my finger on that makes it deliciously unique (not to mention it is so light and fluffy)! Their strawberry rhubarb is without a doubt the best I've ever had! I've also tried the cinnamon doughnut muffin (brilliant), the lemon poppy muffin, the egg and feta sandwich, and the cranberry lemon scone and have loved them all. The coffee is also delicious and the baristas take pride in every pour as you can see by their artful designs in the froth. Um. This might be my favorite bakery. I have bought goodies from 3LittleFigs at various farmers markets and at City Feed, and couldn't be happier that they now have a shop. My sweet tooth can finally get it's apple cider donut muffin fix during the week! I rarely buy just one thing - and their opening weekend wasn't an exception. Aside from the muffins, I am a huge fan of the Strawberry Rhubarb cake. Oh and the granola. Annnd the squash and yogurt baby bundt cake. See my problem??! Too much awesomeness to choose from. It high time I write a review for my favorite coffee shop in town. When last there, I got my standard combo - Egg and Feta Sandwich, Lavender Biscuit and a Chai Latte. As usually, all three were eggsellent. In particular, I dream of the Lavender Biscuit, which finds a perfect balance of sweet icing and lavender savory biscuit. I also love that their chai is not especially sweet, which can happen with places that ysed pre-mixed chai. I am not a coffee drinker, but I hear from everyone else in my life that they make a mean cup of joe, too! As for the space, it's small, cozy, and feels like a real neighborhood spot. The drawback is that at peak hours, the whole neighborhood is trying to squeeze in and the quest for seating can have the same intensity as Market Basket before a snow storm. But if you find a spot, or go at off-peak hours, it is lovely, and there is free WiFi which is not common in most Somerville cafes. My biggest peeve is that they close at 4pm, which makes my delightful work spot off limits in the evenings, but they can't be amazing ALL the time! Overall, I love this place - the space is cute, the food is delicious (with some bangin vegetarian options,) and maybe my favorite part is that I see Mayor Curtatone there all the time! #starstruck read more

I am soooooo thrilled to have this amazing little cafe in our neighborhood. Everything about 3 little figs is incredible. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, the food is amazing, and the coffee...oh the coffee!! So far I have tried the blueberry scone (soo moist and delicious, they melt in your mouth!), the Greek breakfast sandwich (it comes on a soft brioche bun and is the perfect combination of savory and delicious), and the lady lavender biscuit (drizzled with light glaze they have a delightfully fresh flavor). Now on to the coffee...so tasty!! I haven't been able to venture past the mocha, it's just so yummy!! I have tried it as both iced and hot and it translates quite well across both mediums. The absolute perfect cafe. The sweet potato falafel salad was amazing, I had a delicious cookie and everything else on the menu looked fantastic. I sat outside with friends on a beautiful day, but the indoor ambiance looked lovely as well. The ideal neighborhood spot. It was perfect to bring our little 6 month old out as the seating were nicely spaced apart. I ordered the Market Sandwich with a Chai Latte. The sandwich was a perfect mixture of sweet and savory. If you dont know what to order this is a must!! My husband got the Turkey Apple Brie which he also really enjoyed. The bread on both sandwiches were very fresh and yummy. To top off our meal we got a greek yogurt with fresh bananas berries and granola. It was the perfect sweet to end our dine in experience. I came here with my girlfriend on my last day in Boston and I was very happy that we were able to get a table despite how busy the morning rush was. We wanted to get some work done before we headed off to catch our flight in the evening. Much to our disappointment, the wifi here is spotty at best, non-existent at worst. I couldn't even connect to the wifi with my iPad :( Food wise, the coffee here is nothing to rave about. The lavender scone that Yelpers are all recommending however, I would order that in a heartbeat before it runs out. It's as good as people say it is. You should just be careful biting into it to make sure the white lavender glaze doesn't just crumble off the scone. As a note to people who don't normally order scones: if you're grabbing a scone in the afternoon, don't expect it to be spectacular. Scones don't have that great of a shelf life, and they taste significantly worse when they've been sitting in a display case all morning long compared to other pastries. Therefore, get the best scone you can possibly get by coming here in the morning. Best cafe I've ever been to? Probably not, but definitely up there in my list of mom and pop corner coffee shops. The food was good, but the portion sized is a bit on the small size, so pound for pound, weighing quality and the amount you get for your money, I will probably go elsewhere in the future. I don't mind paying for good food, but their portion sizes are restrained such that I noticed I was getting a bit less for my money. The taste of the food was excellent, but not outstanding enough to overcome my awareness that I came up a bit short. And the service was a bit...cool. That's important to me. As a person of color, I need warmth, otherwise it's hard to tell what's making folks so reserved. But the food here is good, fresh, and nourishing. This is my advice;: If you are in the neighborhood and you want a healthy sandwich or salad--definitely stop in. NOM! I visit 3 Little Figs on my way to work, as a treat, especially on Monday's when I know the day will drag. The sweet ricotta Toast and Savory Ricotta toast is a total game changer and a MUST TRY! The sweet ricotta toast has honey, cinnamon and ricotta on sourdough bread. It's amazingly delicious and I would highly recommend. My favorite thing on the menu though is the Greek yogurt. Although it sounds so simple, it's thick and creamy and there is always a compote special of the day you can add. The berry compote is delicious, but my all time favorite is getting the pumpkin compote in the Fall. It is real pumpkin mixed with what I assume is cinnamon and nutmeg. It is SO good on top of the delicious Greek Yogurt. It tastes like a Noosa yogurt with pumpkin but 100x better. Also they serve Almond Milk if you ask, which is always a plus for me! read more

Had the Market sandwich, the curry biscuit breakfast sandwich, and a latte. The Market sandwich was excellent -- both the prosciutto and the fig jam were very rich, so the nuttiness and slight bitterness of the arugula helped provide a good enhancement to those flavors. Prosciutto and fig is a classic combination anyway, so I was happy with it. Lovely, crisp bread had a texture that worked well to showcase how smooth everything else was. You can taste everything in the Market individually and really savor each flavor. Curry biscuit was a nice and simple breakfast sandwich. This was a brunch special, and it's something I would get again. All of the ingredients here are super fresh. And the latte was good, too. I'll be back to try more things! read more

What a clean cozy place! You can tell the coffee shop is under good management - the people in line were served on quickly, it was a well-oiled machine :) Having 2 choices of espresso was definitely refreshing. I thoroughly enjoyed my latte. Another pleasant surprise was seeing a red chili tea latte, which was also delicious with a nice kick. Great place to work for a few hours - strong free Wi-fi, lots of light, a bathroom for customers, nice music (seems like a catered selection, not just your top 40). I really wanted to love this place, and for the most part I do like it. The people who work here are so nice and friendly, and the place is brightly lit and welcoming any day. The food is all made in house and creative seasonal items pop up regularly. I love their feta toast, the market sandwich, their avocado muffins, apple cider donut muffins, spinach pie, and so much more. A true love and passion for what they do really shows. However, I feel there are some points with their food that can be improved upon. Firstly are the breakfast egg and feta sandwiches, which consist of an overly heated, tasteless egg that looks like its been cooked in the microwave. This sandwich would work so much better with a steamed, poached, or even panfried egg! The scones too need some working on. Sure, the flavours are there but they always are too dry. Favorite place to go to for a quick brunch. There isn't much seating, but if you go on a weekday, it won't be packed. You order at the counter and self-seat. The egg sandwich is amazing. The eggs are fluffy, the pepper biscuit is soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside and the bacon is perfectly portioned. It's my go to for breakfast every time I'm there. I'm not a huge fan of their coffee, but I'm not a big coffee drinker anyways (so take what I say with a grain of salt). This is my (and my husbands) go-to coffee shop! It's situated in a convenient location, has excellent coffees, baked goods and lunch items, and has welcoming environment. For coffee lovers/snobs: They have rotating coffee roasts and sell freshly roasted beans of that day's selection if you'd like to buy some to take home. I also learned you get a complementary coffee-to-go if you buy a bag of beans which is a nice touch! Also, their baristas seem to all be skilled and trained to create *consistently* high quality espresso drinks- in other words, I have never walked away thinking, God who was steaming the milk today? (Yes, I've become *that* person...) Food items: I've pretty much tried all their food at this point. The baked goods are great-- if I could afford (in terms of money and calories) to eat them multiple times a day, every day I would! And be sure to try their breakfast items lunch sandwiches and toasts (pictured here); I've never been disappointed by any food item but shout out to their Greek yogurt parfait, turkey apple brie sandwich, and their egg and feta sandwich. Some caveats: It's definitely not cheap (e.g. ~$4-5 for a small espresso drink) but comparable to most small, artisan-type coffee shops. Also, if you enjoy different flavored syrups in your coffees or a large menu of different espresso drink variants, you won't find that here. Instead, they have a limited coffee menu with set sizes and no added flavors aside from mochas (not a negative thing unless that's what you're specifically looking for). Last, this place is small which adds to its harm, BUT it tends to get very packed on weekends and so it is likely you won't get a seat and have to take things to go during popular times. You can do work there on weekdays but b/c of how crowded it is on weekends, work/laptops aren't allowed then. With all that said, this place is like a cross between quaint European coffee house and hipster joint where they prioritize the actual flavor of the coffee and ingredients in their food menu rather than adding flash. I'd recommend trying it at least once to see if it's for you! read more

So 3LF is a block and a half away from my house, and I seriously lucked out because oh god they're so good in every single way. Their staff are super super nice, their lattes are the bomb dot com (seriously), their food type things are delicious, and literally the only kinda-gripe I can think of is that their space is real small so you kinda have to squish when you're waiting for your drink. If you want a seat, you'll have to hover and dive-bomb tables right when they open up. There *will* be a line out the door on weekends. I get a latte with espresso #2 and an avocado muffin almost every time, but their other baked goods are also wicked tasty, and I think someone sold their soul to make the breakfast pie that good. read more

I had seen that 3 Little Figs has rave reviews on Yelp and had wanted to test it out myself for a long time. The perfect opportunity arose today when I wanted to treat myself to breakfast after a long week at work. I walked from my house and got there around 8:30AM. Before 9AM on a Saturday you wouldn't necessarily expect for a cafe to be super busy but 3 Little Figs was bustling with activity. The physical plant of the cafe is adorable. There are a few outdoor tables and some number of tables/bar seating inside, but it is definitely a small place. One thing that I thought was adorable is their policy that there are no computers allowed inside the cafe on weekends. That made for a pleasant atmosphere that was full of electronics-free socialization although I am sure that the policy was designed to help with a faster turnover of tables. I ordered the biscuit breakfast sandwich as well as one of their famous lavender biscuits. Something that happens at 3 Little Figs that I liked is that the employees being you your food even though it is a very casual cafe environment. That was just really nice. The biscuit sandwich was pretty awesome. The biscuit, instead of being plain, was a black pepper biscuit, which could have overwhelmed the other flavors in the sandwich but instead provided a great contrast with the eggs and cheese. There was also sweet, caramelized bacon in the sandwich, a part that I really savored. Now onto the lavender biscuit. This biscuit has a serious amount of hype on Yelp. I think it is definitely 3 Little Fig's most mentioned menu item. It is a very pretty looking biscuit, topped with a white shiny glaze covered in slivered almonds. The taste of the biscuit was definitely good, and I finished most all of the biscuit myself. However, the lavender flavor was not consistently present throughout the entirety of the biscuit. In fact the bottom of the biscuit had almost no lavender flavor at all. So I liked the biscuit but wouldn't say that it knocked my socks off. I wonder if it wouldn't be better to serve smaller versions of the biscuit with glaze covering them and a little more lavender flavor throughout. Anyways, 3 Little Figs is a place that I would absolutely return to, and recommend my friends try out.
