She was quick with our drinks and let us look at the menu for a few more minutes. Mom had the Green Tomato BLT, the Missus had the club sammich. But enough about their meals ... I want to review my meal. Their menu lists that the burger is on a brioche bun ... check that one off of the item list. A hearty patty is also placed inside of the bun and along with it are pickles, lettuce, onion and tomato. Check and double Check. Mayo is slathered on the buns, at just the right amounts that make it taste good, but not so much that it slides the innards of the burger all over the place making the chomping experience mushy. Flavors were good, I had just hoped the patty fit the bun a little better. The ratio was a bit more bun sided than oatty sided. My fries, crinkle cut, were seasoned well. Well enough that no ketchup was needed to dip them into for additional flavor. I would have liked a bit more crispiness from a double fry, but these were toothy enough to get a decent mouth feel. The meal for the three of is was about 47.00, so inflation has also hit my hometown dining places as bad as they have hit my current home near The Woodlands. Will i return to eat there the next time I visit Mom? If she wants to go, then yes, yes I would. I would also hit it alone just for their chicken fried steak or chicken. Ciao, Darrell

It was a raining pouring day, but we went into this little café and found good food and good service for lunch. They made their own pies, which are delicious for dessert after eating our meal.

Shuko's Latin Restaurante was better than I thought. The location is not bad and prices are…read moresurprisingly decent. Shuko's is a fusion of Latin cuisine and American comfort food. The interior and decor is like Tex-Mex style, with fancy light fixtures. Their food arrives fresh and hot from the kitchen. The staff are kind and patient. Yes, Shuko's has a little bar inside and there's a Happy Hour special (I don't drink). There's a kids' menu too and they also serve breakfast. Their Shuko's (sandwiches) are a traditional and most iconic street food from Guatemala. These sandwiches are a must-try! Minor downside, refills on beverage (except water) costs extra. I'd love to come here again.

When I saw the name Shuko 502 in Deer Park, I thought no way, Guatemalan food out here. But to my…read moresurprise, it's more of a Central American fusion spot, with nods to several countries. Still, the name Shuko had me curious, it's one of Guatemala's most iconic street foods, so I had to try it. For those who don't know, a traditional Guatemalan shuko is street food done right: grilled bun, steamed hot dog, Guatemalan-style guacamole (no onions or tomatoes), sauerkraut, mustard, ketchup, and mayo. Their take here is a bit different no guac on mine, but still packed with flavor. A mix of grilled meats, sauerkraut, and condiments all stuffed into a roll. Definitely not traditional, but still tasty. I also tried one of their pupusas, and it hit the spot. A classic revuelta melted cheese and chicharrón oozing out of a perfectly griddled corn masa pocket. Comfort food, plain and simple. Only downside The fries. They were undercooked, a little limp. Just needed a bit more time in the fryer. But overall, if you're into street food with a Central American twist, Shuko 502 is worth the stop.
