My friend and i have been looking for a good salon to go to that wouldn't jack up our nails. This was the third place we stopped at. Reservations are the only way to get in to most all salons now. I got a basic pedicure and manicure. My friend got gel nails with flower art. I was soo happy The lady that did my pedicure didn't cut me! Not my hands or my feet!!! First time in years!!! Let me start with the positive points. Three of us went on a Saturday and I received the BEST pedicure I've had in a long time! I guess there is a husband and wife team and they both did an excellent job of cleaning the cuticles and massaging. There were no timers as every place seems to have but I feel like I still received a good long massage. The couple was the most delightful and very skilled and accommodating. The down side was that even though we made an appointment the day before for 3 people, there were only two people working on us. On the plus side, we got a nice long soak, but one person was always left waiting. It's also the shabbiest place I've been to, maybe ever. Tile was falling out of countertops. Furniture that was old and needed to be trashed. Another couple came in for pedis, I guess, and they were asked to come back. So walk-ins don't work. Bottom line is that I'd rather come here than the very elegant place I got a pedi last time that was the most pathetic excuse for a pedi I've ever had! read more

I made an appointment For 5 and waited 30 min as only two people were working and there were 5 people waiting. Michael did a fast but great job with my gel fill, but it was bare minimum. Cuticles we're cleaned up nor was lotion applied after. I didn't realize he was finished, when I came back from washing my hands he was waiting at the front desk for me. I will go back as he did do a good job, and it is a little less expensive than other places. Just wish they would schedule people a little better. read more

Called a few days in advance and booked an appointment for 5 people. We called and confirmed the day before. We got there on time and asked again if they could do 5 of us. They said yes, but then they only had 2 nail techs. They rushed through all of us. None of our nails were shaped, we all have bumpy, uneven, thick nails. They have no shape they were just thrown on like a mess and left that way. We all have bits of acrylic hardened underneath the nails. They didn't push back the cuticles and there is a gap between the cuticles and the acrylic. I asked for dip and he applied it like an acrylic so It is thick and patchy. He didnt even give me a top coat. Every nail ended up a different color. They were mad when I asked him to just apply a different color over it because the color was a mess. There are bubbles in the polish. They had another appointment booked at the same time as us and had to turn 2 people who had appointments away. They were rude and totally unprepared. I would not recommend this place to anyone who wants quality nails. read more

Went here in the summer while visiting home. I'm glad to see a small family business keeping Job Lot Plaza from being a complete pit of despair. It's also nice not to have to drive to Groton, Waterford, Norwich, or New London for *something*! Their menus and pricing are clearly presented in writing if you ask, including (for pedicures) a low, medium, and ridiculous-hours-of-wraps-and-polishing-wax-buffing-and-stuff options. The massage chairs are comfy, there is free guest wifi, and aircon. The music was local radio. They know what they're doing and don't hurt you or your nail bed. I was really excited to go get after seeing the great ratings and that the prices were so low, but I can say I will not be returning. I went to get a simple acrylic fill, and they didn't understand that I wanted my nails square. He kept filing and rounding the edges, so once they were finished I had to go into my car and file them myself after the gel was already on. Next, the acrylic fill says $17, but yet I was charged $30 when I got no design or anything and he said that it was because I got a gel color. $13 for a gel color?! That's a scam. I really wanted to like this place bc it's so close but I i will never even settle for this place again. basically I had to tell the man how to fill in my nails because he kept not putting acrylic on my nail and I had to have him fill it in. Also my nail broke within a week & I asked for coffin shape and he gave me uneven almond shape not at all like the pictures I showed him. Barely filed them or touched up that's why they looked like almond shape. Paint was also chipping an hour after I left. I so wanted to love this nail salon as I'm new to the area and looking for a great place, sadly I doubt I'll be coking back. I called beforehand and made an appointment for 1pm and showed up 5 minutes early, I was quickly shown to a pedicure tub to sit and soak my feet while I waited on my pedicure. While this was fine to start I wasn't seen for more than 30 minutes and the water had long since gone cold and my request for additional hot water was ignored with an 'I'll be there in 1 minute'. Spoiler: It definitely wasn't 1 minute, closer to 10. The pedicure was nice enough despite the lengthy wait for service and the gentleman gave a great calf massage, it was the gel manicure that was the worst part of this experience. My cuticles were left poorly trimmed, my skin extremely dried out from repeated alcohol and uv exposure and my nails with a mediocre application of polish. After everything was said and done I had to request to have polish removed from my skin and for some lotion because my skin was so painfully dry at this point. I rubbed in as much lotion as I was given and paid for my services and left, I wasn't even to my car before my skin was flaking, dry and painful. Save yourself some money and take your business elsewhere! read more

New to area looking for a nail salon, came in with an open mind. Issue 1 - The acetone for my gel removal was only left on for 5 min. Long time gel user, that isn't long enough (10-15 min is). Removal was not complete, technician had to go back over my nail with the largest grit nail file... Issue 2- I warned the technician I have thin nails and could have the tops excessively filed. Issue 3 - Nails painted 1 at a time then put under UV, no consistent time to drying process and so much UV time my hands feel sunburned and nail edges rough. Issue 4 - I think there was green slime (not vertigree) showing from their hand washing faucet. Not impressed and will be calling the health inspector to lodge a complaint. read more

I'm brand new here from Texas and was in desperate need of a pedicure. I went in today 7/14/13 ans was greeted immediately. There was no 4+ hour wait (like at a few other salons I'd visited today) and I experienced the a really good pedicure! My nail,tech was very nice and he took his time. Them being open on a Sunday is a big plus and I will definitely be going back! read more

I get my eyebrows done here often but today I decided to try a pedicure too. It was a wait of about 20 min which at first I didn't mind because they let me soak my feet and sit in the chair. My water got cold fast though. Which doesn't make it so fun. Then the ladies hands were freezing when she stated. It's cold enough outside already! Other than the cold it's great. I get a good massage both from the lady and the chair and the hot towels were wonderful after all the cold. I'll be coming back again for sure. And just hope I'm warmer to start with. read more

I was visiting Connecticut from Rochester, NY and I really needed to get my nails done. I called ahead and asked for a price for a full set and when he said $25, I figured I could swing it. I didn't have high expectations because of the price but I tried it. It was the best decision! He knew exactly what I meant when I explained what I wanted and he did a great job. They're thin enough to be realistic but they're still strong and I don't have to worry about them chipping or breaking. I was so impressed and I wish I lived closer so I could get them done there more often. I'm afraid to go anywhere else now! I would recommend this place to anyone. It's clean and they're so nice. They have a daughter who runs around and is really friendly and adorable. Definitely try this place next time you need and kind of nail services! read more

I'm very happy with my experiences here. Unlike another local place, where my nails started to chip within 24 hours and were completely destroyed by the end of the week, my manicures here last 3-4 weeks before I have to go back and get a new one.
