I ordered three salads to go. The lady taking my order was nice and tried to accommodate our dietary restrictions as much as could. Salad dressings were very good. Fried green tomatoes were delicious. Just know you're not getting anything too big and fancy (price is $10... I should have managed my expectations!). You will not find better food in Louisiana. The steaks are wonderful. The vegetables are cooked to perfection and the desserts are perfect. The only thing that might top the food or the drinks. What a fun bar serving delicious unique cocktails, and playing great piano music. These are easily the best bartenders around. I wish we had something comparable in Texas. read more

Perhaps I caught them on a off day; yesterday was my first time to this restaurant. Cocktails were good.... Although they could've added more booze. We ordered shrimp and grits for our appetizer. The shrimp were excellent but the grits were nothing to brag about. The main food was decent but DEFINITELY NOT worth $50-70 per person. My father ordered the Ribeye steak and ordered it medium. The steak was COVERED in pepper and was cooked medium rare with an inedible chewy rare center. He also ordered a side of potatoes that were so over-salted, it was inedible. My parents and I NEVER return food to the kitchen, even if it is horrible; last night was the first exception. I ordered the beef Wellington special. The puff pastry was disappointing (very flat and not puffy)... I ended up not eating it. My steak was also underdone in the center and had a mysterious goopy gray center (maybe it was a mushroom stuffed into the tenderloin?). My mother ordered the salmon and was very pleased. Dessert really saved this review. The crème brûlée was pretty good and ended our experience on a good note. For over $300, I would rather go to Mabry House for a better, intimate experience with much higher quality of food. read more

My husband and I have gone here a few times when we went to 'splurge' and, have a date night away from our four kids. While it is expensive, it has been worth it every time. Just looked at the latest menu and to me, well, I would not bother driving over there. They have the entrees (steak) and serve it with MASHED potatoes. Nope. I like a good baked potato with my ribeye OR fresh cut french fried potatoes. If I want mashed, then I will go to grammas house. They just have lost me. To me a real steak house is all alacarte. Whee you can style your meal the way you want it. This place pair a good steak with side of their choice and if you want something else, that is an additional cost. Guess we will not be taking our out of town guests over there. Oh well, there are still several REAL steak houses at the casinos and actually easier to get to. Check out any of those menus. You can get things the way you want them. And when you cannot, hey eat at home. Maybe even better and way cheaper. read more

Had a business dinner there tonight with 9 people. The food was excellent, from the bread through the salads then the appetizers then the entrees and sides finished off with coffee and desert. Every dish hit on all cylinders. The cocktails were generous and meticulously crafted. Cannot say enough about the food. Pretty close to perfect. The service was ridiculously slow between courses but our server did take good care of us with keeping drinks coming, table cleared and presenting the food once it came out. Took 3 1/2 hours from the time we sat down until we got up to leave. At one point, I actually thought he went on a break because we were sitting there for so long. But the food was so good I will forgive the delay. It's worth every penny, just don't be in a hurry especially if you have a large party. read more

Sweat the small stuff. 2John's is probably the best restaurant in Shreveport Bossier... but pay attention to the small stuff...the bad wobble in the table, the "warm" spinach salad being dry and cold, the crabcakes for like $18 being served cold (after we sent the first pair back for being way overcooked), with very little seasoning.. Our waiter smelled horribly of cigarette smoke, which he was pleasant enough, but come on, really? Now for the good stuff. The 10 ounce filet with béarnaise sauce and crabmeat was delectable and cooked perfectly. Your signature 2Johns steak was also cooked and seasoned to perfection. The wine and your sommelier Greg, genuine and amazingly unorthodox. But brilliant. The turtle cheesecake with pecans, creamiest and best cheesecake I've ever eaten. Please pay attention to the small stuff. Do not get complacent. Your food expediter needs to be fired. We will be back, w small changes you are clearly 5 star. PS. The only complaint I had was the drink menu was a QR code you had to scan and the prices on the online menu were not the prices I was charged. The steak is some of the best around. I almost always have a great meal. The service is usually superb. However I had one bad experience that has tainted my view of the restaurant. It was a while ago but I haven't forgotten. I was with a group of ladies there for a birthday meal. We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner. The server opened it. My friend who is a wine enthusiast tasted it. I did too. It had turned and smelled and tasted like vinegar. We ordered for an appetizer, fried calamari. We have considerable experience consuming calamari. Anyone who knows calamari, knows that it is very 'rubbery' and chewy. Ours was so rubbery and tough my.jaw was beginning to ache. I called our waitress over and told her it was inedible, she quickly offered an alternative. Our enree took a good 50 minutes. Tables seated well after we arrived had eaten their appetizer and were being served thier. entrees. I believe waiting staff need to make the guest aware of serving timeline of their order. I felt abandoned, finally my husband spoke up and spoke to the waitress. She did check on us once during the 50 min. She became.defensive and said that because I was still nibbling on my caesar salad they did not present the entrees.lHere's a thought, why not ask the guest, if they would like. to served now or wait a moment. I was consoled trusting my entree would worth the wait, well, it was not. It was oversalted ( I ordered grouper) and flavorless, I requested, grilled fresh asparagus and 95% of them were burnt. Seriously the owners should take a trip to Peter Luger's in Williamsburg, Smith and Wollinsky or even the original Morton's in Chicago. There is no other place to go for the best steak in town! 2Johns is on the pricey side, but well worth it. Service and atmosphere are impeccable. The shrimp and grits is my favorite appetizer. The grits are creamy and the shrimp is perfectly seasoned. I always get the filet Oscar and sometimes add a side of their macaroni and cheese. I've never been disappointed. I wish I could give this a 4.5 review because it was more than a 4 but not perfect. The 1/2 star removal would be for the temperature and lights in the back dining area. We sat where I believe larger parties are placed however there was only two of us. I wish they would have sat us in the main dining area especially since it was our 1yr anniversary. There was a small wall a/c unit and it was pointed directly at me, I sat in goose bumps all night. Now on to the food, it was wonderful. Steaks were perfect, the potato au gratin was delicious and the lumped crab meat with sauce on top of the steak was heavenly. Went here for a girl's night out. It was thoroughly enjoyable. We had drinks and I had the quail appetizer and the rainbow trout. Both dishes were flavorful and well made. My friends enjoyed their meals as well, especially the lobster Mac and cheese. The atmosphere was warm and friendly and I enjoyed the owner walking around and asking how everyone enjoyed the food. 2Johns was recommended to me by a friend while on business in Bossier City. Gregg was our waiter and he was awesome. He recommended getting their Old Fashion that they make special in house. It was the best I have ever drank. Shrimp cocktail was big and the remoulade served with it was on point. I got the Cowboy and it was great. We got 3 desserts (chocolates cake, blueberry cobbler, creme Brulet). Big John is the owner and he came by our table twice to check on us. Top notch place !! read more
