We have visited 2Johns on three different occasions, and I have always been impressed with the service and food. Upscale yes,but certainly worth it on special occasions. My wife had the blackened Verlasso Salmon and she said it was like eating velvet! Cooked to perfection. I had the 24 oz. Cowboy cut USDA Prime bone in rib-eye. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) and I enjoyed every bite. We split the sautéed mushrooms and the potatoes Au Gratin, they were equally delicious. My steak came with the 2Johns wedge and I went with the balsamic vinegar as my dressing and man was it good. Last and certainly not least the brownie with ice cream will put everything over the top. Warm right out of the oven brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate and caramel. Just get it ! The service is second to none. Have been to this location multiple times and this was the first time it warranted a review. The last time my entree was barely warm and this time they knocked it out the park. Our server an older gentleman was very knowledgeable about the menu and aimed to please. The filet I had was perfectly cooked but had a tad more seasoning than I prefer. I've been here a couple times over the years and it seems to progressively be getting worse each time. I took my mother and step dad on a "dinner date" spent 330$ for VERY mediocre food. The service was excellent as always but the steaks were absolutely top 5 worst I've ever eaten. The lobster Mac was ok and the salad was drowning in dressing. BLOWN AWAY! Sat at the bar with a friend after work. We looked ugly and tired in our scrubs and were honestly just looking for an average drink and someone suggested this place to my friend. SO glad we went here! The ambiance is very dark, elegant, and romantic. I would come here just for that. It is pricey, but that's expected. The bartenders are friendly, personable, super awesome at making and creating drinks, and they're very attentive. THEY HAVE PISCO!!! Do yourself a favor and try a pisco sour. Please. It was awesome! We also tried a spiked chocolate milkshake of some sort. It was so delicious. I'm still craving it! For dinner I had the pan seared grouper over a creamed spinach with lobster. It was absolutely delicious! My friend got the salmon and cleaned her plate as well. Everything was a 10/10 from presentation to taste to quantity. It was perfect. For starters, it took too long for our server to acknowledge us. So long that I started a 5 min countdown before we were going to leave or ask the hostess who our waiter was. After our drink orders were finally taken, service was not so much an issue. I am celiac and one thing I appreciate about 2Johns is that they have GF marked on their menu. However, our server needed education because she told me everything marked GF meant it was GF. This was after I ordered our appetizer of shrimp and grits and specified that it needed to be GF. On the menu, it very obviously states that GF means the item is gluten free OR CAN BE MADE GF. I know from previous experience not every item that's marked gf automatically comes that way- some require modifications. I did not have peace that my food would come out gluten free after the server obviously did not understand their own menu. The food we received was good. Ambiance? Needs work. Our server stood around gossiping with other employees most of the time, sometimes within ear shot. The "runner" that took care of us was amazing. He was so kind and respectful. Honestly they work harder than the actual servers. For a place that costs this much, I would expect staff to be very well educated on the menu and allergens. I am disappointed in that and would definitely hesitate to return as this is a serious medical necessity. Great spot!! We came here on a random Thursday night for a late birthday dinner. If you're worried about getting a reservation for 2, there's no need because you can sit in the bar area (first come, first served). It definitely has a nice romantic vibe for date night. I enjoyed my wine selections (both pre and post dinner wine selections). The meal was fantastic!! I had the trout with the creole sauce that was tomato-based, which didn't ruin the taste at all. She made sure our waitress Karen had all the details. Karen gave us superior service without overcrowding us. She was very knowledgeable of the menu offerings and took the time to answer all questions. The food was fresh, fragrant, flavorful, and well presented. The cocktails left a little to be desired for my taste. The Sazerac and the old-fashioned were just a bit flat for me, but the ladies enjoyed their martinis. Great food and Great service. We had the Crabmeat Au Gratin for our Appetizer and it had a good taste but I didn't care for the uncooked onions in it. I ordered the 14oz Prime Ribeye with Lobster Risotto and green beans, the steak was so tender and was seasoned perfectly, the green beans was really fancy and tasted wonderful with the garlic seasoning and ohhh man you have to try the Lobster Risotto, it was amazing. The wife had the Steak Au Poivre with mashed potato's, she said her steak was super tender. For desert we had the fudge brownie with Ice cream and it was good also. For us they had a waitress and a waiter that took really good care of us. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the food on the menu as we quizzed her. I love the steaks from this place and I tell everyone I can from the bossier area it is a must go. The service is top of the line. When you order a steak they will temp check your steak when it arrives at the table to ensure it's cooked right. While you're waiting you will be served fresh and hot bread. It taste like it's hand made so I would be surprised if it wasn't. Fried green tomatoes were delicious. Just know you're not getting anything too big and fancy (price is $10... I should have managed my expectations!). The shrimp were excellent but the grits were nothing to brag about. The main food was decent but DEFINITELY NOT worth $50-70 per person. My father ordered the Ribeye steak and ordered it medium. The steak was COVERED in pepper and was cooked medium rare with an inedible chewy rare center. He also ordered a side of potatoes that were so over-salted, it was inedible. My parents and I NEVER return food to the kitchen, even if it is horrible; last night was the first exception. I ordered the beef Wellington special. The puff pastry was disappointing (very flat and not puffy)... I ended up not eating it. My steak was also underdone in the center and had a mysterious goopy gray center (maybe it was a mushroom stuffed into the tenderloin?). My mother ordered the salmon and was very pleased. Dessert really saved this review. The crème brûlée was pretty good and ended our experience on a good note. For over $300, I would rather go to Mabry House for a better, intimate experience with much higher quality of food. read more

I feel that I owe it to the person reading this to say, you will rack up a bill if you eat here, there's no way around it (even sides cost extra). Once you've swallowed that pill, everything else is pretty easy to swallow. I had a prime rib steak, while the cut of meat was fatty, it was prepared expertly. It was done to what would be the textbook definition of 'rare' or 'medium'. Their sides were delightful too, grits and potatoes are both winners. The bathroom was icy cold. Went there for my wife's birthday and the food is mad expensive. But it was worth it. The menu kinda felt limited. A little disappointing but I won't knock it for that. WHAT I WILL KNOCK IT FOR is that I asked for mushrooms to be added and the mushrooms we got added on to our meals made both me and my wife terribly sick for days. I'm wondering if the mushrooms were straight out the can or if they were sitting somewhere going bad. I don't think I'll go here again. My health insurance can't cover it. read more

I wish I could say great things about this restaurant. Unfortunately, not so much. I had a Caesar salad and crab cakes. My salad had yellow lettuce and my crab cake was nothing to write home about. For me, the menu is dated as well as the garnishes. Their menu and restaurant needs some updating.
