I've ended up at 24 Seconds a few times now, and it's always a good experience. At first glance, it's just a sports bar. The thing is, everything I've ever ordered there has been better than expected. Good burgers, good appetizers, good sandwiches. Boyfriend and I had lunch on the rooftop patio this past weekend, and it was really nice. Prices are good. Service is always great, even when they're packed. Although 24 Seconds does get crazy when Big Games are on, I've always ended up finding a table, even for a group. Went there tonight - usually go quarterly for happy hour with a group of people. It is fine I guess. There is NOTHING on the menu that really looks appealing. Last time we got the guac and chips - the waitress warned us that the recipe needed salt and lime. She was right. Today the garlic pita chips looked kinda gross and they came with a vat of ranchy looking dip? Needed more chips and less dip. But it wasn't good anyway. Great veggie burger! Not gonna lie, probably the best veggie burger I've had in Michigan! Sat at the bar, was greeted and served quickly, even asked about lime in my Corona! In the last few days I've been to 24 seconds and the food was great! I first had the firehouse burger. I like spicy food and it hit the spot. You have to get that with the waffle fries. If you are a fries person like I am you will love their right out of the fryer hot fries! I could order just an order of them. A day later I had the buffalo chicken dip! I was like dang who made this? They give you more chips then you will need because I'm telling you will load each chip up with a load of chicken filled with cheese. Was passing by with my GF and we wanted to play darts. Saw the board was open and first time we were there. Only ordered drinks and played darts. Probably not enough time spent to give it a higher score though I liked what we saw. The wait staff was really good, even though we were only ordering drinks they were quite attentive. Talked to one table about the large Nachos they had and it looked great. Had a good feel to the place, surprised about some of the comments regarding food so will have to try it. Like the upstairs outdoors but was not open that night as it had been raining on and off. Looks like a sports bar, seems to be geared for BB hence the 24 seconds. Dart board worked well, good place for it as no one was cutting in and around us as so many dartboards are setup that way. Intrigued us enough we will head back to try out more of the place. I'm leaning towards 3.5 stars here. We ordered the combo appetizer plate, some mini burgers, a turkey burger and a turkey Reuben. The wings and cheese sticks were your standard but their potato skins are pretty ridiculous...get these and don't share them! Their onion rings were over-battered and greasy. I wasn't a fan this time around. I didn't have the mini-burgers but it was said that they were a little dry but OK enough. The turkey burger legitimately tasted exactly like a hotdog...not a turkey dog but a straight up ballpark type dog. I tried it, it was a little gross. I had the Turkey Reuben with waffle fries and I liked it a lot. I'd order it again! The food here is often pretty good but sometimes mediocre depending on what you order. Service was pretty solid this time around and usually is but the real redeeming quality here is the patio. The bar itself is pretty chill but it can get a little rowdy sometimes and it's usually pretty loud in here...great for games or a night out with the boys. read more

Well it was getting time to sit drink and eat, and with several options in the area we found our way to this place for a couple beers and a bite to eat...kind of wish we had of found something else! First of all, this was during the Irish fest and this bar/restaurant falls directly in the "zone" of the event, so one would have expected maybe seeing a feature of a couple Irish dishes, which is a fail on the part of management in not being in touch and/or capitalizing on this event in my opinion. Aside of what seemed like a lack of community involvement, I would say that the food options were somewhat limited. To be clear, this is as much a eatery as it is a bar, otherwise there wouldn't be a sign that states "Please wait to be seated" at the entrance, that being said the food is nothing but bar type stuff. On to my order, the french dip is a pretty easy thing to do (you would think), in my situation the meat was very dry and sort of flaky which I can best characterize as what tuna out of a can is like. The meat was flavorless and was on a sort of stale hoagie bun with nothing else. The "dip" part aka au jus was incredibly salty, in so much as to say it was as if I was licking a salt lick. Whoever made the au jus 100% over salted and ruined it. It was unusable on the sandwich. The homemade chips were ok. Our table also ordered the large nachos, they burned them and had to remake, the second batch was also over done to the point the cheese was burned to the plate, although the salsa was amazing! I gave 3 stars because the beer was cold, the bathrooms and establishment were very clean, the staff was friendly. I would have given 2.5 if I could simply for the food quality since that was a major part of the visit, but I rounded up due to cleanliness. Would I go back, nah...its not worth the effort in my opinion. Would I recommend to others, I would say its ok but I am sure there are other options that are far better. If you are looking for a place to eat, their lack of originality and effort poopoos this, if you want a bar only with some TVs, this place would suffice...then again so would your house I suppose. read more

FYI: I am a Berkley resident (10+ years) I have had a lot of good times at 24 Seconds. I live in the area and I love sports (Tigers, Red Wings, and Michigan State football and basketball)...24 is a good place to catch a game. They have a myriad of tv's so if it's during March Madness or you're interested in an out of state team, chances are you'll find a tv with your game on. 24 is (in my opinion) the only bar in the area with good service and clean restrooms. I've usually been willing to pay the extra money that comes with 24 Seconds for good service. The rooftop is great! It's nothing like a rooftop bar in Royal Oak, this one is much better. At the 24 Seconds rooftop you don't have to deal with excessive road noise and the atmosphere is chill and the dress code is relaxed. It can be difficult to get a seat sometimes...especially on the rooftop. There has been some turnover in the waitstaff and the ones that remained are great. I've had a lot of fun and made some good friends along the way. The food has been hit or miss...I'd say more hit than miss (I like the pulled pork nachos, the Rueben with fresh jalapeño, the wings, the shoestring fries, and the pulled pork quesadilla). 24 is a rare place that uses fresh jalapeño instead of canned and pickled. I love it. BUT, it seems that the number 1 complaint about the place and I'll echo it, it is difficult to overlook the prices. It is an expensive place to go to. I like when bars and restaurants have music playing, and it's not just 24 Seconds, but they have a jukebox is all, no free music pumping through the place. Jukeboxes have gotten pricey these days too. Again, not just 24 Seconds but the bars around town. I feel kinda bad for the people that like to drink and live close...it could get expensive. 24 Seconds does NOT have the problems that ALLLLLL the other bars in town have, you WON'T find the vagrant power drinkers that wandered in off of Woodward, you WON'T find career alcoholics working on their 5th dui, you WON'T find bartenders that take smoke breaks, and you WON'T find regulars that are as welcoming as a chained up guard dog. Nope, at 24 Seconds cmon in, sit right down, order food and drink, and hand over your wallet. 24 Seconds is a good place for a meal, watching sports, I'd leave the kids at home (no reason to spend the $ if they'll take one bite and be done, but I also get the feeling that "they" might view kids as taking up valuable drinking space), and good service BUT I'd need to save up first. Oh and it's the only bar in town I'm allowed in...I'm not entirely certain why I am allowed in 24 Seconds but as Groucho Marx would say, "I refuse to join any club that would have me as a member.". *** I have also reviewed the other local bars, that I am no longer welcome in, Mr.J's (reviewed on Facebook and Yelp) and I'll be posting my review of The Blarney Stone (Yelp) soon. My girlfriend and I were recommended 24 Seconds by a friend and we weren't disappointed! We went on a Friday evening around 5:30pm and it was full of people around the bar having a good time. We found a seat and noticed they have happy hour from 4-8pm with $1 off all drinks and appetizers, NICE! The staff was very friendly and super hard working. Pretty sure the bartender didn't stop while we were there. That's what I like to see! We ordered a couple beers and got their garlic pita bites (delicious!!) and their smokehouse nachos (the BBQ sauce on it was awesome). The small was more than enough for two of us. We hung out for a couple hours and had a great time. We didn't get a chance to check out the deck but they were able to accommodate another customer who couldn't use the stairs to get up there because they had an elevator which was great. This bar has a ton of TVs and we wanted to watch UFC fight - bar advertised UFC 241 was playing at 8pm - huge fight awesome card , incredible Prelims .. get there to find out they only had it on 1 tiny screen - couldn't hear it and management wouldn't change it to big screen till later. Dealt with Dream cruise traffic to get there we were so excited. Think twice before watching your fights here - it's crappy for such a big event and we had to leave and go to a different bar. They push themselves to be a UFC friendly bar but obviously they're not. read more

This is a sports bar first - lots of TV's, skimpy clothes on the female waitstaff and bartenders, and greasy, fried bar food. I've been here a handful of times and have never really enjoyed it that much. It's ok, has standard beer choices (read: non-craft [god, I hate using that word...]), and a standard food selection for a bar. The last 2 times I've been here my burgers have been ridiculously undercooked. I usually order them medium, but both times received them rare... After sending them back to the kitchen, of course, they come back medium as originally asked. If you're looking for a place to just hang out with friends and drink bud light while watching the game, this is probably a pretty decent place. For anything else: stay away. read more

I was really disappointed when I arrived wearing a mask to be the only person wearing one. None of the wait staff or the bartender was wearing a mask. I stopped in for a quick beer after dropping my cat off at the vet and the service was prompt and nice but I won't be back if a business cannot take proper precautions during a pandemic. I'm only leaving this review so people can be warned. It's funny how everything can change in an instant. I used to consider this the creme de la creme of sports bars in the area but last night, my opinion change quite heavily... I should have seen the writing on the wall when I walked in and spotted a man in head to toe Pittsburgh Steeler gear as soon as we walked in. Low and behold, there's music playing over the radio and we came here to watch the game, homey! We asked if they would turn the sound on the game (a problem no REAL sports bar would ever have) and they told us no. No, the SPORTS bar is not going to turn on the sound to the SPORTING event. Wait... what? So, we left at halftime and went to another bar where they were more than happy to accomodate our fandom and accept our moola. read more

Good for watching sports on their 1,289 TVs, or for enjoying the summertime on the rooftop. It's one of only 3 rooftop decks in the area (along with Social in B'Ham and Red Fox in Royal Oak), so it's definitely worth a try for that reason alone. For the same reason, it definitely exhibits some of the calling cards of a douche-haven, but definitely less so than the other two rooftop spots (this is Berkley, after all), and really only on Friday or Saturday nights. The music is often a little loud, too, especially during lunchtime. I doubt many people are looking for a thumping scene at 1:00pm on a Sunday afternoon, but perhaps that's just me. Nevertheless, the food is passable if you stick to the basics, and the bar on the rooftop really is a cool spot. read more

24 Seconds is a reasonable sports bar that turns into a regular bar on weekends. Don't go here on a weekend night and expect to be able to hear the game (or even really watch it - it can get really crowded) The food is pretty good, it has some standard bar food, but also some more interesting sandwiches. But once again - it gets crowded on weekend nights, so not a great place for late night eats. They have a really nice rooftop deck with a bar and a couple of TVs. Parking sucks when they are crowded. There is a lot behind the building, but between 24 Seconds and the Berkley Front, it fills up pretty fast; you'll end up parking on the street somewhere. We went to this establishment to watch the recent Mayweather fight and they were charging $30.00 pet person but have you $30.00 in food and drink vouchers. Amazing deal, we thought! We got there about 5:30 as we anticipated the bar would be packed. Our waiter was amazing, he kept or drinks filled the entire time and was very professional, all while running around like mad man. As for food, we had amazing pizza, the crust was devine! Not to thick, not too thin. The guacamole was spicy which I found really off. The chicken tenders are NOT hand battered, it's freezer to fryer and they tasted old. :( I did look around and see delicious looking burgers and grilled tortilla wraps I wish we would've split in lieu of the old freezer burnt tenders. Bummer! Their ranch is like water, work in that please 24 seconds! I didn't like that they completely sardined the place, seriously, you couldn't even move around to get to the bathroom! We had an end table and I felt completely beat up by the end of the night from all the bumping into my arms/shoulders and stepping all over my feet. My favorite thing about 24 Seconds is their rooftop. There are lots of tables and TVs up there to catch the game while enjoying a beautiful day/night and cold beer. I usually just have drinks here and like that they've added many more Michigan beers over time. I do like their Guiness chili and chicken tenders. It's fun to come here any time of year. This is a great place to grab a beer and watch a game. It also has above average food in my opinion. The rooftop deck is also a nice touch. I have had a few things on the menu and all were great. The nachos are huge and really good. I always go with the chicken. It is grilled and has that smokey taste to it that comes through in the nachos. We went up to the roof top-- apparently other ball players had this same idea because there were other peeps in uniforms. I was pretty impressed with the patio. Nice big open space. Quick service. Cheap beers. There were some larger tables that cater to larger parties--maybe if we win our game next week the whole team could come out and celebrate! read more

Have been here several times and each time I have enjoyed myself. They have TV's all over the place so there are no bad seats in the place for viewing any sporting event. They have drink specials every day if the week along with drink specials for when local teams are playing. Food is also an option from appetizers to main course. This is where it gets iffy for pending on what you get it is either a good deal or can be a little overpriced for a sports bar. Overall they are consistent which is a plus. Restroom is clean and staff is friendly. Parking can be a challenge and will have to park a little bit away pending what is going in and what night of the week. Overall good experience. read more

Lots of TV's, laid back atmosphere, lots of beer options, great drinks, and good food. I have had a few things on the menu, and I've never been disappointed. I tried the grilled cheese this weekend and it was one of the best I've ever had! Absolutely delicious! A perfect blend of cheeses. The quesadillas are also very good. -For the Berkley area, this is the best option for a sports bar -decent beer list -great service at the rail -great lunch service -pretty decent food for a sports bar (except for the nachos, those can use some improvement) -good setup downstairs, nice option to hang out outside on the porch upstairs. -good drink specials -beer can be warm at times...especially at bar upstairs -the cook can be seen, at times, smoking like a chimney in front of the bar (12-mile). I'm not a huge fan of seeing the person cooking my food, smoking right in front of me. If that "larger" person is not the cook, I would suggest he find another place to take his smoke break. All in all, a pretty good place to hang out, watch a game, get some lunch. read more
