A former 5 star turned 1 star. I went there because I had some gum recession and a black spot on my tooth. For context, I didn't wait until it was hurting to go, but until I had dental coverage.
They offered me planing and root scaling. When I asked about a gum graft to cover the recession, the doctor said "you'd have to ask a periodontist, but personally, I would advise against it because they can wear out." I also told them about my dental anxiety and prior experience having a pierced nerve cluster from the localized anasthesia while getting cavities filled at my last dentist.
They offered me localized anasthesia with no sedative for the anxiety or discomfort. I couldn't even finish either procedure without a bite guard, because anasthesizing a person's gums (slowly, agonizingly) doesn't numb the pain of your jaw extending twice as far as comfortable. Gee, maybe the jaw muscles up to my #%@^$ing temple wouldn't have been so tight and painful if I HAD A #&@%$*ING SEDATIVE!
They split it into two procedures, right and left. During procedure #2 (left) both the assistant and the doctor got it mixed up in the computer, despite it being correct on the paper, and I had to correct them both. I had to correct the doctor on which side he was supposed to inject WHILE HE HAD THE @&%^$ING NEEDLE IN MY MOUTH! @&%^$ING OOOPS! What even is the point of having an assistant and making me wait a half an hour between seeing them and the doctor if they don't communicate the simplest pertinent details to each other in all that $^@^$&#ing time?!
Turns out, seeing a periodontist (they didn't recommend me one, I had to look for one myself) about the continued pain and tooth exposure post-cleaning was a good thing. I have an abnormal frenum that these dentists didn't notice. The reason for that black spot? My frenum was pulling the gum in front of that root down and exposing it to plaque it shouldn't have otherwise been able to touch.
And guess what the treatment for it is. A frenectomy... AND A GUM GRAFT IN FRONT OF THE TOOTH! DOUBLE $&#^@%ING OOPS! So now I gotta wait 6 weeks (not counting the two weeks of pain between procedure #2 and my periodontist consultation which have already passed) in order to get the graft these people said I shouldn't get.
The kicker? I still would've needed that planing and root scaling, but I could have had it done by the periodontist that they KNEW I would have had to have asked about restoring my gumline. And guess what? SHE ACTUALLY OFFERED ME SEDATIVES! But of course, why would they EVER recommend anyone else to me? That's things I could be giving THEM money for, after all. "I wOuLdN't ReCoMmEnD oNe PeRsOnAlLy!"
Two months ago, I could wake up without being in pain on a daily basis. Now? Constant root exposure, constant gum inflammation, I HAVE HAD INTERNAL BLEEDING WHERE MY TEETH ARE GRINDING INTO MY LOWER LIP BECAUSE OF WHERE THEY'VE BEEN MOVED BY THE PLANING! I'm genuinely having nightmares now about my teeth falling out that I never had before, and I eat Ibuprofen like candy, every day. This is no way for a person to live. And this is a job well done to these people.
What a sick joke. These people are butchers. These people are devils. Do not trust them with your money. Do not trust them with your health. Do not waste time you will have to spend on another new dentist when these people INEVITABLY mutilate you in the pursuit of providing the worst, cheapest service since the Dark Ages. I would seriously consider asking the masseuses next door to clean my teeth before coming here again. read more
