I have been going here for two years now, and have been very happy with my service. I love that they try to keep you with the same hygienist each time you go - I LOVE LYNN! If you can request someone, she is just fantastic, she is really sweet, and my teeth have never felt so clean before. I mentioned this to her and she responded "I try to treat your teeth as my own" I have also liked the dentist as well. She seems very thorough. My insurance tends to just offer chain dentistry options, and I feel like this dentist office feels more personable than most chains. Money hungry dentist.. I've been going here for sometime now simply because it's close and I have not put effort into finding a new one yet because I've been moving around a lot. But every time I come here it always seems like I have a new problem with my teeth that has gotten so bad that I need a drastic procedure like crowns being replaced, root canals recommended. Multiple cavities... I take care of my teeth, brush day and night as well as floss atleast 4-5 days a week. Most dental assistants here are very rough when working on your teeth (hitting your teeth with tools/stabbing gums) I had to "have" two crowns replaced and when I went into get my temporary crowns removed the crowns they had made for me did not fit at all. They had to make new impressions and make new ones. I've had temporary crowns for about a month now. It's just so great only being able to chew hard on one side. If you go here and they recommend something. Take my word and get a 2nd opinion. I do not trust them. I truly do not feel they care about their patients at all. I will be searching for a new dentist. read more

I'm going to try and not be too dramatic or assuming in this review. I came here and was given almost a $2500 estimate to take care of supposed problem teeth. I was pretty bummed since even after insurance it would be a lot of money for me. Luckily I had a long time between appointments to think this over. I ended up making an appointment with someone else recommended to me who took one look at my teeth and said there were no cavities and that I didn't need work. He said there were a couple of teeth that may need something in ten years or so. I asked him why the other place said otherwise and he stated that some places have different criteria for what constitutes needing a filling. I'm not going to assume why they would have this but it does seem to be a recurrent complaint about the Avon Gentle Dentist. read more

I would not recommend Avon Gentle Dentist to anyone. They have the worst dentists ever in my opinion, the staff is rude and all they care about is money. They don't care about their patients. I bought a crown from them which did not last and after I went back to them to let them know that it came off and it broke they told me I have to pay for a new one out of pocket. Note that crowns are supposed to last at least 5 years but mine didn't. They don't deserve any stars! read more

Dr. Atmar did some work on my teeth after I hadn't visited a dentist since my youth and I am 30+ year old man. I felt so much better after and she did a great job making my smile look great while relieving me of my previous tooth pain. Since my first visit I have gone a number of other times and I really love this dentist. Just recently they had a packed schedule for the month and I ended up having a tooth break on me, but they still found a way to get me in the next day due to it being an emergency. All of the staff there are very kind and pleasant to be around. I think the thing I love most about this dentist office is the fact that they are patient, understanding, and helpful. User beware! The office is well decorated, staff seems friendly, it's all a fancy coverup. They do not work well with insurance companies that supposedly are accepted at their office. They do not honor negotiated rates that are listed in the insurance coverage books once they complete the work. There are plenty of other dentists in the Avon/Plainfield area, save yourself a huge hassle and headache and go to ANYONE else!! read more

They charge you maximum possible. If they do little extra cleaning they charge with a category where your insurance does not cover and you end up paying most of it (over $100 out of pocket). They don't care if you are unemployed or not, they just want to make as much extra as possible. read more

Katelyn is the sweetest person you'll ever have working in your mouth! LOL she's very thorough and explains exactly what she intends on doing or provide other options, but while also stating what she thinks would be best. She worked on a tooth that had decay and at first thought to put a crown over the tooth and after thoroughly examining the tooth, she realized that it could be saved and filled it instead so that she didn't have to ruin a perfectly good tooth and saved me money. She took her time on the procedure to ensure my smile was beautiful being that it was a front tooth. She has a very bubbly personality which makes the visit so much more pleasant. I've never enjoyed the dentist and the dr. Usually are rude, but she's given me a whole new experience! Thank you, Katelyn Lewis! Front office staff very unprofessional. They were talking about patients as they were leaving. Sharing their personal opinions about that particular client. They were looking through clients records to see if they were married. They were very loud and not talking about work but things outside of work. Too much gathering at the front desk. They were talking about each other when someone left the desk. read more

Had a dentist appoint today with Dr. Atmar and company and it was a good expirence as per usual. I'm not much of a chit-chatter and I couldn't care less for small talk but my regular hygenist (Courtney, I believe though I could be wrong) seems to have a gift that keeps me comfortable and talking all while poking, proding and scraping. Dr. Atmar and her associate Dr. Mustard (whom I've only dealt with on one occasion) are highly professional and gentle (go figure) on the minor procedures (fillings and extractions), though I've never had major work done. The staff also do a fantastic job with my 5 year old who fears many things but not the dentist thanks to these folks. read more

I have been going to Avon Gentle Dentist for a few years now and have had several types of work done. Every single time I have been there, I have had the same staff members attend to me. It has been wonderful because they have come to know how I will deal with different procedures and what services I need. Most recently, I couldn't help but to be shocked (pleased) when I called to ask questions about the braces I had received from an orthodonist up the street and I needed to have an extra tooth pulled. Amber called the orthodontist's office to talk to them about getting me in to have my wire replaced right after I got the extraction done and she remembered that, because of my job, I have a very hard time getting to daytime appointments. She went way above and beyond to make sure I got that wire replaced that day. Dr. Atmar is so sweet and is... well, very gentle. I love how she and her assistants chit chat while they are doing their work. It really helps calm my nerves. They are always so polite and happy to see me. Being self employed, I do not have dental insurance. They hooked me up with an insurance carrier that has saved me a lot of money (not Care Credit, though I do have that if needed)! In the beginning, I only went to Gentle Dentist because I needed evening hours and they were the only ones who offered them... Now, I go there because I know that I've never been treated so well at any dentist's office I've ever been to. I trust them whole-heartedly. read more

If there were negative review, this place would receive it. I went in for 6-month cleaning because the dentist I typically went to had retired. Cleaning turned into 6 cavities that needed work. I okayed the procedures as I was naive, first filling went okay, 2nd filling took 6 tries and I told them I no longer wanted to come to this location. The filling still hurts a year later. They grinded on my filling without any anesthetic 5 times. I figured they were trying to save money and not spend it on the anesthetic. They never provided any apologies for 6 tries they messed up on or not using anesthetics. Do yourself a favor and STAY away from this place. They are a franchisee and dollars are their bottom line. They will upsell at any cost. Find a local family-owned Dentist and stay away from this Dental location. I will take the X-ray they provided to the next Dentist when Covid issues are over and see what BS they tried to sell me. read more

I moved close to Avon, but have a regular dentist, excellent healthy teeth and gums and only cosmetic work. The hygienist here told me while the doctor was out that all I needed was a cleaning. I knew that...the doctor told an assistant that I needed $1500 dollars worth of work done. The assistant seemed uncomfortable telling me that I needed this and that and to stay to do it NOW $$$. I feel if I did not have great insurance just getting a cleaning would have been no problem. Scamming the insurance companies seem common place now a days. Went back to my dentist showed my dentist the same info and got a hearty laugh and my regular cleaning. Just something to think about. read more

My daughter had an appt to see Dr. Mustard in the spring. It was the first beautiful sunny day in a long time. I had requested to take off from work for the appt- this required that I go in on Saturday to make up the time I missed from work. They left me a message at work about 1 1/2 hours before the appt asking to move up my appt for the next 1/2 hour. I tried to return the call and it kept going to voice-mail. So I left a message that I could not get there earlier and wanted to keep my appt time. I did not hear anything back from them. I left work, picked up my daughter and then went to the Avon Gentle Dentist Office. It was completely shut down!!! I could not believe that I had been stood up for a dental appt??? I paged Dr. Mustard and left him many messages explaining what he and his office had done and requested a call back with an explanation (an apology would have been nice). Dr. Mustard did not return my page or phone message. I ended up having to go in to work on Saturday to make up the time I missed so that Dr. Mustard could close shop early and (I would assume) enjoy the good weather. When I rescheduled the appt and explained what had transpired to the office staff they were not in the least apologetic. They were extremely rude. We will never go back. read more
