I came to 221 Post this summer after having my hair ruined at another salon. I was hesitant and afraid to try another new salon after the terrible experience that I had at a different salon this summer. Enter the most relaxing atmosphere and the kindest staff! I told them about my experience and I was very specific with my colorist asking her only to dye specific sections of my hair. Not only do they have training and skills here they put you at ease and let you know what they are doing while they are doing it! I have never felt so at ease at a salon and I am going to keep making that drive up to Orange Connecticut for a half head of highlights and blow outs. I came to this place because I saw good reviews. Unfortunately, I left feeling taken advantage of. I called prior asking how much a trim, wash and blow dry would be they said it would range from 40 to 65 the most. I left paying 85 and still tipped 10. Upsetting. 95 dollars total for a trim wash and blow dry was not worth it. I felt like they took advantage of me being a new customer and may have thought that I had money to spend like that and over charged me. read more

I found Jamie on Instagram. I drove an hour to this location. Her pictures are REAL and reflect her amazing talent! I'm about 60% gray and haven't been able to get my color right with anyone else. Jamie really listened to what I wanted and delivered! She updated my color and toned the yellow brassy color out of it. She also cut it and the blow dry afterwards was amazing! I love this place! I've been going here for 5 years. Everyone is very friendly. The moment I walk in the door, I feel like I'm there to see my friends! My hairdresser is Alyson and she does an excellent job! The thing I appreciate most, is her talent with color! I have red hair which is very difficult to cover the greys with a natural color. Had a Groupon/Living Social for this. I had a phenomenal time and they are really great. They go out of their way to make you comfortable and listen to what I wanted. What I think was the best was that Trisha did not try to convince me to do an expensive straightening treatment but did say that she thought that people with naturally curly hair need to embrace their hair, not just chemically straighten it. I used to go to this salon a few years ago, but followed my stylist to her new salon. It became too expensive, so I went here. Made an appointment explaining what I wanted. When I walked in I saw that the stylist they had me with was a much older women, who I recognized, and has been there for many years. I have absolutely nothing against older people, but I felt she probably wasn't up to date with current styles. I felt too bad to leave. I should have. I showed her a picture of exactly what I wanted. I wanted to say "STOP!" a few times but I felt bad. She chopped up my hair so badly, I was shocked. She kept cutting and I asked her to stop. She said she was "texturizing". It was absolutely NOTHING even similar to what I asked for. I paid my bill (it was too expensive), even tipped her too much. When I got in my car I was mortified! I started crying. It was a chopped up, uneven mess. When I got home, it was worse than I thought. I should have said this to the owner and refuse to pay, but I'm not that person. I should have listened to myself and walked out when I first got there. I'll never go back to this salon again. When you get a bad feeling, listen to it. read more

Found this place on Yelp when in the area and loved it. Trisha was very experienced and worked at Peter Coppola in Westport, my usual. The decor is great, they serve you coffee and tea cakes, and have waxing and spa services as well. Very friendly, professional staff. Also reasonable prices!! I had damaged hair but didn't want to chop off too much. Trisha told me her honest professional opinion, but listened to what I wanted and took off the damaged ends. Looks fantastic! I have been going to Jamie since I first moved to CT the fall of 2008 and now, even though I moved to Boston, continue to make the trip to have my hair cut by Jamie. She is the first person I have ever had cut my thick hair who has known exactly what to do and how to make me feel good about my hair. She always listens to me, and even when I say, I don't know what to do, she still creates something I love. She even has cut my toddler's hair, fixing haircuts done by "kid's salons" that were disastrous. All of the people who work at 221 Post are so nice and friendly, always smiling. I saw an add on Groupon for a full Balayage with haircut and read prior positive reviews from customers so I thought I would try it out. it was easily accessible from the highway and was actually larger than I anticipated and very nicely decorated on the inside. I arrived at 9 AM and was greeted by Jill my stylist... Right away she was friendly and made me feel at ease with the style balayage I was looking for and I showed her a few example pictures as well. Jill jumped right in and made the process so unbelievably relaxing and enjoyable... she even used two colors on my hair to tone down some of the blonde and give it more dimension! Once she started to blow dry it is when the magic really happened... The colors came out beautifully and were just about a mirror image of the pictures that I showed her! She even curled it after the cut to make me look fabulous on the way out the door... I would highly recommend both Jill and the salon and will definitely be coming back soon! read more

usually have no bad experiences getting my eyebrows waxed at this establishment, but was left with no words at the work done on my brows. after asking for a light reshaping, i was left with brows that started not near my nose but instead at the corners of my eyes, a significant change I did not ask for and definitely did not want. did not even bother to wax the tops of my brows. it makes me sad to see that after their previous incredible eyebrow waxer left, owner did my brows and did not even ask me whether or not i was okay with her taking the essential parts of my eyebrows off (was given no mirror). very upset and disappointed in something that will now take me months to fix. read more
