I am not from Connecticut, but I found this salon on Instagram because I was looking for a stylist…read morewho could achieve the curly look I wanted for my 4C hair. The stylist featured in the video wasn't available, so I assumed that because I saw someone with hair similar to mine being styled there, I would be in good hands. I was assigned to Daysha. Unfortunately, I left looking worse than when I arrived. My hair was soft when I came in, but I left with hair that was hard and crunchy from the products that Daysha used. Even more concerning, the back of my hair was still wet when I left the salon. I didn't realize it until I was almost home. I don't understand how Daysha could finish the service without noticing that my hair wasn't completely dry. To make matters worse, I was charged nearly double the price that was listed on the salon's website. There was no clear explanation for the significant difference in cost. As the stylist providing my service, Daysha should have explained any additional charges before proceeding so there were no surprises at checkout. Not every hair product works for every hair type, and I expected a professional stylist to understand how to work with 4C hair. Based on my experience, I do not feel confident in the quality of the service I received. I personally would not trust anyone else at this salon if this is the standard of care they are willing to provide. This was a very disappointing experience, especially since I traveled expecting professional service and left feeling like my hair had been mishandled.

I begin with a confession: Two months ago I was dumped by my stylist when she up and left with no…read morenotice. Because of this recent loss I cannot be trusted to judge another salon accurately, for I am only comparing everything to my previous experiences with my dear, sweet Darcy. (What did I do, Darcy? Pleeease come back to me!) Anyway... This is a beautiful salon, but I can't say I'd recommend it. Perhaps my mistake was not asking to see Tom when I made the appointment, but based on the other reviews I thought he was the only hair stylist there. The woman who cut my hair was perfectly nice, but I felt like she was more interested in selling me products than getting to know my hair. She asked me a few questions, of course, but then she gave me a magazine and hardly said a word. Perhaps she wanted to concentrate- perfectly fine with me as I'm not one for small talk either. However, it seemed like the only times she talked to me was when she shoved one of the products she was using on my hair into my hands. She also tried to sell me color. That's her job. I get it. Then she sliced my ear with her scissors. No big deal- I'm sure this happens from time to time, but what I didn't like was that as soon as she got me a bandage she said she was finished. That left me wondering if she was really done or if she just didn't want to cut me again. I left happy, but in the next few days I noticed some bangs that she'd missed. I also felt like the back was kinda crooked (perhaps because she didn't finish after slicing my ear?) I debated whether to go back for fear of seeming demanding or whiny, but I thought that it would be better to give her a shot to fix it than to just go somewhere else. She said she fixed the bangs- I know she trimmed them- but again I'm finding stragglers! I was charged $8 (to fix a cut I'd paid $60 for!?!) On the way out she asked me again if I was going to come see her for color. I sheepishly said that I couldn't afford it (she didn't give me a quote but based on the cut I'm sure it would be more than I'm willing to pay) and walked out feeling like a dog with my tail between my legs. So the search continues. Disappointing, really. Perhaps if I had more money and time I would enjoy coming here and kicking back in the posh surroundings. I guess I just need something more practical at this point in my life!
