Gina is amazing! I've been going to her for over 7 years now and am constantly in awe of her talents. Once you find someone as gifted, down to earth and genuine as Gina, you'll never go anywhere else again! I have very long hair (it goes down to the top of my but) and I never worry that she's going to take too much off. That's usually a huge concern for people with long hair, that the hair dresser will take too much off. Gina cuts EXACTLY what you either show her you want off, or that she shows you she thinks should be taken off, no more, no less. Giana has been doing my hair (ginacurl) for 3+ years now. I live in Florida so I am so thankful she goes out of her way to travel twice a year to a location closer to me. Saves me money and just makes it convenient overall. I have watched my hair grow year after year under her care (grown 6+ inches over that time). I'm on my way to Hair's Talent for GinaCurl #19--so it's been about 10 years now. Damage sustained at other salons forced me into years of wearing wigs, weaves, and extensions to cover up. Glad that's over and it's because of the way Giana, Gina, and the rest of the team at Hair's Talent have treated me and my hair. Great staff, great hearts, great service. My hair started to bounce back and thrive from my first visit to Hair's Talent. I had terribly frizzy hair - going to events in humid weather was literally a nightmare for me. I met Gina one day and she told me she could help me. I was very skeptical since I've had my hair straightened and had multiple other treatments and nothing worked. I had the Gina curl on June 9th and it was absolutely amazing experience. I have very thick long 4c hair so I wanted a treatment that would ease my patience. My hair is color treated. So I did take the risk in doing this treatment. They are very nice and made me comfortable in there. The place is very clean and I love how my hair turned out. My hair did take about 8.5 hours due to my hair. I traveled all the way from Texas and it was worth every penny. I have added some pics. After three days of my Gina curl I washed my hair. It was so easy literally took my 20 minutes. Is used the tgin sulfate hydrating shampoo and conditioner. The first three pics are pics out the shower. The tree pics after where the curl is more defined I added my leave in conditioner only. The last pic is letting my hair air dried with the leave in conditioner. I was disappointed with my last visit. She cut way too much off and said it was because my hair was dry and damaged from hair dye. I had dyed my hair once a year ago. She did not take any photos of my hair before she cut it and gave me a short bob. I did not feel welcomed this time and felt rushed. I will never trust them with my hair again!! read more

I have been going to Giana for around 2 years now, and I have never been so happy. She always ALWAYS listens to me about how much I want cut and never forces me to cut more than I am comfortable with. Over the years, I have noticed my hair has been growing long much faster, and Giana has complimented it too. During one of my appointments she even asked if I had trimmed my hair before seeing her and I said no, and she replied that my ends looked amazing. She has helped me feel so confident in my hair again, and I also love that she comes all the way to Florida, instead of me having to come to Connecticut. I have been going to Gina for the last 20 years for a straight Variation. I know Gina from the days where she had her very first location to where she is now. My hair before the treatment was frizzy and dull. Gina transformed my hair in 2003 and she has continued to do so in 2024. I get the treatment done now twice a year. This is very disappointing to have to write because I had been going to Gina for years but I think that it is important to let everyone know that this company and it's personnel only care about your money. I attended the Hairs Talent Texas trip and my appointment was for the 7th of December. Me, my toddler and my partner traveled over 12 hours to Gianna in Houston. With services, travel fees and lodging, I spent well over $1,500. I arrived to Gianna on the day of my appointment with hopes that she would perform the straight variation beautifully on my hair as she had done a year and a half before (picture labeled #1). That day, she was a little upset that I didn't allow her to do the Gina curl on my hair because she was unaware that I booked for the GSV so she came unprepared. I had no idea that she was discussing to Gina that she was embarrassed to have to ask people around the shop for a flat iron and blow dryer because I didn't want the Gina curl so I don't know if the next part of my story was because she was upset with me or not but my trip ended with me in tears. For over 5 hours, I sat in the salon that she used feeling uncomfortable because they kept making comments about "black hair" but I felt that as long as I had Gianna there, everything would be alright. It was obvious that the chosen salon was not diverse. Fast forward, in (pictures labeled #2), Gianna clipped my ends because she said it had been a long time since my last GSV to which I understood. I don't know how I went from picture #1 to pictures #2 so fast and I was a little disappointed with my length check afterwards but I thought that it was what was best for my hair. Gianna was running a little behind during my appointment and needed to take another client so I waited 1 1/2 hours for her to finish my hair. I returned to the salon to which she told me that she needed to continue to clip my ends. I wasn't so happy with a second clipping but she told me that if I didn't agree, I'd have to sign a waiver because my hair would fall out. This resorted in (pictures labeled #3) when I looked up to see the final results of my hair. I cried because I couldn't believe that she had chopped all of my hair off and the only thing she kept saying was that it would grown back, my hair was beautiful and I could get extensions if needed. Due to me crying, she said that we should go outside to talk about it. Embarrassed, I walked outside to sit on the nearest bench and overheard Gianna mocking me to another male client before saying "oh well" and going back inside to finish her next client. I sat and cried in my vehicle at the unprofessionalism and lack of empathy from Gianna so my partner went inside to see if there was some sort of compensation that could be made for cutting off my hair. Gianna stepped back outside and told me that I had 3 minutes to talk to her. My mom was on FaceTime and had to demand more talking time to try and explain where Gianna went wrong. Gianna said that the only thing she would do was put my clipped hair in a bag and send it back home with me. When my partner went back inside to get the "bag of clipped hair" Gianna was inside laughing at the situation with the rest of the stylists before pointing to the ground where the rest of my hair was that she had not thrown away, demanding my partner to pick it all up from the ground. Gina decided to call me to let me know that "maybe the cut was needed" and the only thing that she could offer me was a free protein treatment to which I never received. My mom tried reaching out for a refund because Hairs talent unfollowed me on social media but they blocked all of my mom's accounts, deleted her comments and never responded to any of her emails (pictures attached). My family and myself are very upset to see that they would rather lose a relationship with a loyal client than to try and rectify what went wrong. I had to go through my bank for a refund. Be careful, these companies only care about your money. She deletes reviews off of Google but I've copied and pasted it all to my iphone notes because I will not stop letting the world know how evil and money driven Hairs Talent is. read more

This place is horrible, they lack compassion for their clients, deflect any amount of care which is not given, and lack empathy and professionalism. My daughter has been a loyal client of Gina's for years. She has traveled to Connecticut for some time to have her hair done. She told me that Gina was having some sort of traveling workshop in Houston Tx in which she wanted to go to have her hair done there this time. She left Atlanta one way traveling over 12 hours to Houston only to have to be faced with a horrible life changing issue. My daughter called me via face time to show me that all of the beautiful Locs of hair that I've taken years to grow had been cut off and left on the salon floor for her to pick up. See the first picture where she's sitting backwards white shirt and hair down to the middle of her back. My daughter received her service by Gina's daughter Gianna who was very rude, unforgiving, and truly didn't care or try to compensate for the mistake she clearly made. When I was told to let me speak to Gianna she was speaking over me and trying to tell me that it was nothing she could do about my daughters hair and that she only cut off 1/2 of an inch of her hair. Clearly looking at the pictures she cut off more than 1/2 an inch and more like 4-5 inches of her hair as it's a huge noticeable difference in the first picture of her in the white shirt and her in the black shirt with her hair cut up to her neck/shoulders. My daughter was very upset and cried only to be told that the stylist Gianna would place the hair she cut into a bag for her to take with her. They could care less about the mistake that was made and only offered to compensate my daughter with a protein treatment and told her that she is not her hair and that she could do extensions like tape in to gain the length back. They refused to refund her, hasn't responded to any of my emails or messages sent to them, deleted the negative comments made on their social business sites, and proceeded to block me from the pages! This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Please see the photos of the emails and messages sent. For a business of this size and caliber, servicing a majority of black clients that travel from near and far to receive your services, you should have not had a problem righting your wrong and providing adequate compensation and a genuine apology for what was done. My daughter should did not deserve to be treated in the manner in which she was after spending thousands of dollars over several years supporting and being styled by your business. A refund should have been the least you did. This is a true testament that this business is only for the money and could care less about their clients. Please do not support this business! Please see the photos as evidence of my daughters story and think twice before giving the amount of money she charges for these services. She keeps deleting our Google reviews and won't respond to any messages or emails. She only wants the good reviews to be highlighted. Don't DO BUSINESS WITH THIS SALON! read more

I did not want to write this review however it needs to be out there. The first time i went to this salon i went for a straight variation when i was 14 years old. (my hair was completely virgin hair and had never been processed) At this time my hair was waist length but hard to manage that is why I went to Gina who told me it could be done at $550. After getting this treatment that she raved about, it did make my hair more manageable so i ended up doing the treatment a couple more times. However i was realizing that my hair was becoming more and more brittle and i had to trim my hair more often as the ends were fraying easily. By the time i was in 10th grade my hair was about two inches past my shoulders because of the amount of times i had to cut it. Since then i have not gone back to have her treat my hair because of this. After 3 years of trimming i have finally gotten my hair to be completely natural yet still not at the length it once was. Gina posted the my first treatment on facebook when i was in 8th grade. I found it strange that she did not ask to use my picture for advertising especially since i was under age. I did not say anything at this point though. However she posted the same photo again on instagram when i was a senior in high school stating that the length of my hair was retained because of her treatment, implying that her treatment will help the growth of your hair. THIS IS PREPOSTEROUS not to mention false advertising and also gives costumers a false sense of hope; my hair was always long until i started getting it treated by her. In reality it is because of her treatment that my hair became so short and that I am still trying to regrow my hair today. At the start of senior year my hair was at my shoulders. This treatment was a big mistake for me i would not recommend it, not the mention the fact that she tried to raise the price of my last treatment about $100 after i got it done even though she gave us a set price before we started. Her straightening and curling treatments are good ideas but don't seem to be very healthy for hair. My very last treatment with her was the infamous Gina curl. When wet it would just wave barely and curl in some places but when it dried it was stiff and my hair broke easily. This could be because she put it on top of the straight variation, but she does claim that this is safe to do and will still yield great results but maybe not. I would like it if they would remove my photos from her social media platforms and website as I am no longer a client because of this. Before I found Hair's Talent and Gina, I had very bad experience with my curly, thick, dry and frizzy hair. I went to Beaucage Salon on Newbury St in Boston for Japanese Hair Straightening. I paid around $700 and it did not work at all, even though I had not colored natural hair, and I never got my money back, all I got was damaged hair.. After that problem I was looking for experienced professional. I was not sure if anybody can help me because my hair was already damaged after my bad experience. I found a couple of videos on youtube about Japanese straightening with people who know what they are doing. One of them was Gina. I liked that she knows a lot about straightening, and how she answers all of the questions people ask in comments. It was obviously that she knows what she is talking about and I scheduled a consultation appointment even though it is 1.5 hours driving. I found that she is very knowledgeable about what she is doing and she has many years of experience in Japanese hair straightening . And FINALLY!!!! I GOT MY PERFECT STRAIGHT HAIR!!!!! Hair's Talent staff is rude and Gina is incredibly unprofessional. She takes an absentee approach to handling new clients, meaning that the staff who answer phones and pick up food will be styling and applying chemical products to your hair. I have contemplated writing this review for quite some time. This review is an attempt to warn others of the poor business practices that this salon and it's owner, Gina Rivera uses. I considered taking this business to court, but ultimately it is hair and hair will eventually grow back.... I will start by saying that I have had the Liscio Japanese Thermal Reconditioning process done 6 times by a salon in another state with no problems, whatsoever. I have colored my hair for many years and I know that my hair has always been somewhat damaged from the coloring process and previous treatments including keratin, harsh blow outs, and flat ironing. That is why I drove 45 minutes for a hair consultation with the "professionals" prior to making an appointment for the treatment. I told Wendy Irizarry everything about the history of my hair, including the approximate dates of prior straightening treatments, color (including bleach), and the fact that I had very recently colored my hair with hair color from Sally's. She examined my hair and said that she was confident that the straightening would be successful as my hair was mildly damaged but she felt that it was not so damaged that it could not withstand the treatment. I gave her a $100 deposit and signed the salon contract. Yes, I saw "no cash refunds" at the top of the contract, but it clearly states "I agree all the information is based on truth. If I have any problems because I did not share the correct information/give enough information or did not take the advice of the home care instructions I will take complete responsibility..." I did share all of the correct information and I followed the home care instructions to a "t", just as I have done with prior treatments. On the day of the treatment, I arrived on time. The treatment was done a little differently from the way that my prior stylist had done it--very quickly and a little rushed. I paid for the remaining $550 balance of the treatment with my credit card and tipped Wendy $120 in cash. Total $770. When I left, my hair was straight and I was pleased with the results. Within an hour of leaving, though, my skin began to feel itchy around the nape of my neck and around my ears. By the time I got home, when I looked in the mirror, I could see that the hair in those areas had begun to frizz. I wondered if I had maybe perspired a bit so I lightly flat ironed just those areas. Again, within a couple of hours, they frizzed. I knew that heat was not a good thing for TR hair so I just left it. I waited 3 1/2 days to wash it and I used the Nigelle sample products that Wendy had given me. I could feel a big difference when washing it from the way it had been with previous TR. I did not blow dry or flat iron it again that week. Each day, the hair got frizzier even without washing or wetting the hair. I emailed the salon and was asked to come in. I returned to the salon with the huge frizzy mess. Wendy and Gina examined my hair. Wendy was sympathetic. Gina got her ire up and immediately began blaming me for the mess. They did a conditioning treatment, Gina cut off about 2 inches of my length, and again I left with straight hair. Three days later, I washed it. Again, a huge frizzy mess. We emailed back and forth. Gina even intimated that I was just trying to cheat the salon by asking for a refund. They offered to compensate me by doing conditioning treatments to repair the damage. I agreed to this, even though it was a 45 minute drive each way. I just wanted my hair to look good. I asked for an appointment, giving my availability. I didn't hear anything back for 6 days. At this point, I had lost any confidence in this salon to really take care of this mess in a professional manner and demanded a refund. I put a stop payment on the credit card but because the charges were not fraudulent, the charges remained. The credit card company told me that they cannot make decisions as to right or wrong but only to fraudulent charges. I had signed the credit card slips. They suggested that I file a claim in small claims court. My lawyer also suggested taking this business to small claims court. The contract is so poorly written, it would never stand up in court. But honestly, I just don't have the time to go through the court processes. I have since had a total of 8" of damaged hair cut or broken off because of the poor job that Wendy did. I don't believe that Wendy is a bad person at all. In fact, I real liked chatting with her during the treatments. However, I believe that she made a big mistake with my hair. Sadly, neither she nor Gina, nor the salon have shown the integrity to offer any refund. Why would I want someone who has damaged my hair beyond repair to keep working on it? I paid $720 for medium length straight hair. Instead I have a very frizzy bob style cut. Gina is an excellent hairstylist! She knows how to do all hair textures, and I mean ALL hair textures. I am black (Afro-latina, African-American and Caribbean descent) with hair that took many years for me to manage. My hair is fine, but curly (somewhere in the 4 family), and deceptive. Years and years ago when I relaxed my hair, stylists would say I have coarse hair and would use the strongest relaxers in my hair. The opposite is true: my hair is fine, very porous and needs a lot of moisture and tender loving care. I went natural for years until I found Gina. I found her on the internet and she is not only incredibly knowledgeable about ethnic hair, she truly cares about maintaining length and promoting healthy hair when using chemicals. I started out with the Japanese hair straightening, which gave me incredible results. My hair was never so healthy, shiny and full of body with a relaxer. I wanted a change from the straight look to something that would give me more volume and looser curl. I currently have what is called the "Gina Curl." It is a variation of the same products used when getting a Japanese straightening (thermal reconditioning), except Gina modifies the application and process so that my hair is not bone straight. She sets my hair on perm rods and my hair has curl now. It looks like my hair was set on flexi rods. The ends stay curled! I use Jane Carter products and my hair looks great! Gina is an artist. If you go to GIna, you will become a customer for life! My hair has retained length and you will learn so much from Gina about maintaining healthy hair. I LOVE my hair!!! Thanks to Gina, her lovely daughter, and everyone at Hair's Talent, I now have a beautiful hair style with much more manageable hair. I got the Gina Curl more than a month ago, and my hair still looks fabulous! I get compliments on my hair all the time. Even so, the main reason I got the Gina Curl was manageability. It used to take 5 hours (yes, 5 hours!) for me to do my hair on wash day from start to finish, which includes a pre-poo and detangling, shampoo and conditioning, and styling with twists. As a result, I would wash my hair every 4 - 6 weeks. Even though some may say that this is ok, it was not for me. My hair and scalp have always been healthiest the more frequently I washed; thus, I wasn't surprised - but very concerned - when my hair health started to decline. I saw the YouTube videos of the Gina Curl and mulled over it and prayed about it for 6 months. When I contacted Gina, she was very responsive and friendly. We did an online consultation and she was very honest in her review of my hair. The day I had my appointment, it started to snow, which I saw as a good sign, even though I was somewhat nervous. Gina was very welcoming and explained all that was being done to my hair. She and her other staff checked on me constantly, making sure I was comfortable and offering me food and water and coffee throughout the day. At the big reveal when the rods came out I could hardly believe my eyes. My hair looked amazing, just as I had hoped it would. My reaction was very subdued, something akin to awe, because I could hardly believe the beauty of those curls and that those curls were on MY head! After care instructions were given to me and explained. I have not had to call back to ask any questions; I followed the instructions to the letter. I feel new growth coming in, but so far, I have had no problems with my hair and no breakage. My wash time has been decreased by 90%. I don't have to detangle prior to washing. I can just step in the shower and start the process (ahhhhh). I wash my hair twice a week. From start to finish, I am done in 30 minutes. No more wash DAY: I have lots of time to do other things that same day now.
