So I came here because they do not have one bad review on Google however now I'm wondering if they delete reviews or if their colorist Leida is maybe the one who just has issues as she hardly has any reviews on Google. I spent a day crying and finally today able to take time to post a review. I had gone in after months of research and saving up and wanted multi highlights with obvious highlights showing and keeping more red undertone. The picture on left is the coloring I wanted and the one on right is what I got. Everyone who has seen my hair says it's nothing like the picture. Nor is the cut anything of quality. I could have cut my hair probably better. Again picture on left is the layers I asked for (mind you I had very long hair and a lot to work with) and the cut (in right). This cost almost 500 dollars and it's heartbreaking that I wasted my money. read more

Not only is Ashley a fantastic hair stylist (both cut, color and signature hair blowout), but the owner is understanding, kind, and a runs a customer center business. I'm in love with the haircut I got from Chloe! I asked her for my go-to style, an inverted bob, and this is the absolute BEST cut I've ever received. Since I've been getting an inverted bob on and off for over 20 years, that's saying a lot! Rather than make assumptions, which so many stylists do with this cut, she asked me if I wanted volume or sleek and sophisticated, subtle or dramatic. She took the time and care to ensure that the front was perfectly symmetrical, that the hair wasn't too dense or heavy in some spots for this cut, and that it fell the way we wanted it to - my hair has some challenging cowlicks, so that is no small feat. Update: When styling my hair the next day, it fell easily and beautifully into place with little product or effort! Lisa, the woman who helped me check out, was highly knowledgeable of all of the products they carried and offered recommendations/tips for how to use them. She put together attractive gift packets for the products I purchased for myself and my mom. Lastly, this is the only salon I've ever been to that carries Davines products, which are fabulous and smell amazing. Highly recommend! read more

My husband and I have been twice now, we have had Kate the owner/master, cut our hair and color mine and let me tell you, Kate is brilliant, a true creative gift and attention to detail. Kate is certainly not cheap but excellent in skill, gifting and talent plus she has a great personality and very funny, which makes for a very fun experience, love it and love her, she is amazing. . This place is getting 2 stars because of the staff being friendly. NOT because of the prices or wonderful experience. I paid OVER $600 for a color, cut, and keratin treatment. Maybe that's the going rate, but for me it seemed incredibly steep. Hair color was great BUT the cut i was charged for was awful! Barely ANYTHING was cut off. I had to call and take time out of another day, to actually get it cut the way it should have been the first time. However, when i went back, TOO MUCH was then cut off! VERY DISAPPOINTING! And the 'keratin treatment' i received, was supposed to be 'the best' and keep your hair frizz free for 4-5 months. They tell you that you can get your hair wet right away & don't have to wait. HOWEVER, once they start the treatment, they THEN tell you that if you want it to last, you can't wash your hair more than 3-4 days a week! I'm sorry but what kind of joke is that??? It's summer, people get sweaty (as well as their scalps), why should we walk around with nasty heads after spending $325 on a keratin treatment!? It's been a month since i went to Salon Space. My hair is already frizzy again & my cut is way too short. Maybe it's just the woman i had, but for $600 i feel I was BEYOND ripped off. read more

I had the worst experience at this salon. I am not the type of person that comes online and bashes a company but this has just gone too far. I got recommended to this salon by a friend, I was told about the Wednesday deal and figured I would give it a try since I'm a college student and I am on a budget and i hoped that it would've worked out for me like it did for my friend but that wasn't the case... I got scammed. To make a long story short I wanted my hair to match my roots and at the end of the day I walked out with 4/5 bright orange/red stripes across the back of my head which i didn't realize till I got home. So basically I paid $100 for a disaster and no one was able to do anything about it after I contacted them multiple times. I had to go and spend an additional $200 to get my hair fixed at another salon. I've learned that quality is worth the price so if quality is what you are looking for I would not recommend Salon Space! read more

Wow. What can I say? I was in here about a year and a half ago because my regular hair salon couldn't take me in last minute. I know for sure I had gotten a "newbie" hairdresser. She was quiet and sweet and pretty of course, but it took a little over 2 hours for my haircut. I wanted to run out of the chair I was sitting for so long! She washed my hair too delicately where I couldn't even feel any suds touching my scalp- pretty much just the exterior layers of my hair got cleansed and conditioned. My comb out was brutal- I even offered to help comb it out. I have curly hair but she wasn't putting any effort into it to untangle. It was almost scary the way she seemed like she needed to think about what she was doing before she used the shears on my locks. The the longest blow dry ever. It was an aggravatingly long experience and don't want to have to go through that again. It's funky in there though. I like the look of the place. read more

KateYoung the owner is as good as they get. I never leave an unhappy customer. I have very fine hair. I have always had my hair cut with short layers on the top since I wanted volume. Kate made my layers grow out longer and with her special technique puts a lot of texture in my hair so that I am able to get the volume I need. Kate is passionate about what she does. I have also observed Kate teaching her staff which is a big plus. I feel that if Kate ever went on vacation and I needed a cut in a pinch her staff would do as good as Kate would. read more

I've been going to Kate at Salon Space for almost 5 years! This salon is professional, friendly, and most importantly cut and color technically trained and up with the newest and hottest trends when it comes to hair. They use all natural products - I've been purchasing my products from her for years. I recently moved to San Diego and I've booked my hair appointment for around the holidays when I come back to see my family and I've purchased and had my products shipped since I've left. I wish I could transplant this salon here on the west coast. The Salon, the employees and KATE are really that good. I cannot say enough good things about this salon. I was surprised to see Salon Space only gets 3 stars on Yelp and decided that this must be rectified. Pronto. Even though popularity might mean that it'll be harder for me to get appointment, I'd really rather Kate (the owner) has a busy salon than not. These are why I *heart* Salon Space: - Kate knows how to deal with Asian hair (Note: I actually don't know how it physically differs from Caucasian hair, but have observed that not every hairdresser knows how to deal with Asian hair, resulting in over-puffy, mushroomy top) - I can specify my requirements (e.g. low maintenance, stylish haircut that matches my active lifestyle and personality) and Kate gives her recommendation - I get more than just a hair cut: I actually get a hair style. I regularly get compliments from my coworkers the day after I get my haircut. Until now, I'm still thanking my friend who referred me to Salon Space because it is such a gem. My experience was not a good one. Having really curlie hair I am always scared of people cutting my hair. I should of used my instincts. Worse hair cut ever and the color job was so bad they had to redo it. Even then it is not the same on both sides and still way too dark. I will not ever go back, stay away from this salon read more

I never write reviews or even make decisions based on reviews but this business deserves a moment of my time for the time I have got back because of how wonderful my hair cut is and how much easier it is to style my hair. Only one time about 8 years ago did someone cut my hair half as good as Kate, the owner did. I was recommended by a friend and she expressed to me how good this particular place was and I didnt doubt her but never imagined the work that was going to be done. Unless you try this salon you won't know what a real stylist is. I did and I can honestly say the talent is unbelievable. I've been to this salon 4-5 times now and I'm just not impressed. I usually go to Kate and every time I arrive, I'm left waiting for anywhere from 15-30 mins, because she was busy with another client. It seems like they don't know how to schedule the correct amount of time per client. But I liked the way my hair came out the first time, so I went back. One time I had to wait at least 30 mins and they promised me a $25 credit on my account for my next visit. I never got that credit. Another time Kate was so busy with other clients that she asked me if another stylist could do my color instead. Right in front of the other stylist. I really didn't want to, but I felt extremely uncomfortable saying no right in front of her. Big mistake. She gave me really bad highlights, where I had 1/4 - 1/2 inch of dark roots before even leaving the salon and the first 2" of highlight were a completely different color than the rest of my hair. So I went back one more time to Kate to have the highlights retouched, hoping they would look better. They don't. I still have really obvious roots, and the first couple of inches of highlight are this awful bright yellow color. I won't be back. read more
