Came to 22 Below tonight for the first time with my daughter and some friends. I was pretty impressed! Ice cream was delicious and the staff was very nice. Large menu with many options including vegan if you are into that sort of thing. Could maybe use some more decorations but that's just a personal taste thing. Ice cream was good; however, the rudeness of the server was unacceptable. We were a party of three and our first visit. I asked for help on how to order..."pick a flavor and order it!" Hmmmm, not much help. Then he began making our orders...what a labor intensive process. Anyway, he finished the first two orders then stopped to take more orders. My spouse asked "did you forget my order?" He snapped "no, I said I was going to take their orders!" My spouse said "but the rest of my party has received theirs already." Hands down one of my most favorite treat spots is 22 below. The ice cream is uniquely made right in front of you + the three free toppings makes it even more tasty. Service is always friendly and willing to answer any questions we have. We even grub hub this joint because it's so amazing. There was a lot of hype about this place when it first came to Salem, and I was looking forward to giving it a try. My experience here wasn't bad per se , but it wasn't really that good either. I arrived with a friend about an hour before close. There was a small line and two employees on the clock. Multiple tables were sticky looking and hadn't been cleaned in a while (like ice cream that had melted and then hardened) and I had to sit at one of them. I get the balance of keeping staff on closer to close, but in his case three staff were definitely needed to keep the place running smoothly. That was my take on environment. On to the ice cream- I love the concept of rolled ice cream, but man- it takes some time and a lot of clanging noise to make it. Both of those things are fine, unless you're in a hurry and or/wanting to have a good conversation (I guess that ties in to environment, too). I tried the "Daring," which is a hot Cheetos flavor. I'm all about weird combinations in ice cream, and this one just didn't do it for me. My friend ordered green tea and Oreo. He liked it okay, but I found it a bit to... earthy... and I usually love green tea ice cream. One major plus, however, was the presentation. Very impressive and beautiful. Went in on a friday evening. Was told they were closing early due to a family thing and we were the last customers. While he started our order 2 more groups came in. You can tell he got frustrated. My husband had ordered a smore ice cream. The employee then proceeded to torch the marshmallows and I mean torch. Those things were so burned. We went to our car to eat and his ice cream tasted like nothing but burnt. It was inedible. My order turned out great but maybe don't order the smores if they burn the marshmallows black. read more

The icecream here is great and the price isn't that bad, but the service is soooooo slow. There was a line of cups before us and they took five minutes to make each bowl of icecream. We waited about 25 minutes for our icecream and the staff were moving as slow as snails. read more

This is for the Salem location on 8/19: I wish I could give 2 diffrent ratings, because one would be a 5, and the other a 0! Today, 8/19 around 2pm, was my first time visiting. I wish I would have asked for names, but when I first arrived there was only one girl there, younger with dark hair in a plain black baseball cap. She was very nice, said she would be with us in a few, took our orders perfectly, was friendly and "small talked" with us while she made some pretty amazing rolled ice cream. She tanked us for coming and told us to enjoy. WONDERFUL customer service and skill! We sat down to enjoy our ice cream and them another employee came in. There were about 3 groups of people inside now. As they were hrlping thr groups, another employee, who maybe a supervisor I believe, came out from the back with a child in a stroller. She put the stroller in the walkway to the restrooms and returned to the room. She emerged with diffrent toppings (strawberries and another something) and started behind the counter putting things away. The whole time ignoring the child in the stroller. Well, a ton of people came in. As the girl who had helped my, the one with awesome customer service, was making ice cream for another customer the "supervisor" (I'm assuming) said out loud, in front of several customers, "You're going too slow! Get out of my was so I can take over!" And I was sitting on the other side of the room and heard her. This is EXTREMELY unprofessional and just plain rude! And, as she's busy telling at the employee, the child in the stroller had gotten out and was climbing on customers legs. This is deeply concerning to me as this child was not being properly supervised! At this point we were finished with our ice cream and ready to leave. Amazing ice cream!!! It's so delicious and fun to watch them make it. The toppings selections are huge and it's a bit difficult trying to decide what I want, thank goodness it comes with 3 toppings without any extra cost! My favorite is the strawberry cheesecake, with a real piece of cheesecake inside! I love how they use real ingredients and you know what's going into the flavor, I mean most scoop ice cream, you can't really tell how much real ingredient is used. So I'm glad that I know I'm getting some real strawberry and cheesecake in it than just some artificial cheesecake and strawberry. The employees are so friendly and nice, I appreciate that they speak really loud tho because it's hard to hear through all the music, chopping and the glass barrier. read more

The process is mesmerizing to watch and the work that goes into it is appreciated! We did have to wait for maybe 5-7 minutes before our ice cream was in hand, so don't go if your impatient. You get A LOT for one serving so you can easily share with a friend. Lots of flavor choices and the experience is great. If you have sensitive teeth, lol, be prepared that their ice cream is WAY colder than getting it from Coldstone or somewhere. Not my favorite ice cream but certainly fun. read more

I work in food service too so I understand you get busy and he was trying to be fast. That's not why I'm making a review. As we were eating the music that was playing very loudly over the speakers was swearing like crazy. The song Rockstar by post Malone was playing.. the chorus talks about F****** B****** and popping pills. There were families in the store, like I said it was busy.
