I came in previously to get my phone repaired less than a week ago. However, it is broken again. When coming in again to address my concerns, he stated that I didn't have a warranty even though I do. He refused to print out my contact from my initial visit. He now states that it's a different issue, even though no additional damage was done to the phone since my last visit. As a service oriented business, 1Up Repairs provided a masterclass in bad customer service. Please, consider other device repair companies that will value your business. I brought my wife's phone to have the front screen glass repaired and the replacement glass was installed with a lower corner raised. Within a week, a crack appeared due to the uneven pressure applied to that area of the phone. When we returned to 1Up Repairs on S. Lamar to request a replacement, the staff refused to acknowledge that their faulty repair would be covered by their warranty. The manager emerged from the back and was so nervous that he was nearly in tears as he angrily debated the errors of his staff. This was and unnecessary escalation of the situation in which the employees stopped listening to the customer and ceased to explore ways to solve the customer's needs with any ideas for resolution or compromise. read more

Dear Owner John, On March 30th, I paid $150 to have my iPhone 11 Pro screen repaired by Paul. Then, today (April 15th) , nearly 2 weeks later, my phone screen MYSTERIOUSLY cracks again...though it was in a case with cover, with a screen protector, and with absolutely NO drops the last 2 weeks. Figuring it was something faulty on your end (with the repair or the part), I returned to your store to exercise the warranty I understood was at play. When I met with Paul today, he advises me that the warranty won't be honored and that "even pressure" to the screen could cause it to crack, that he's seen screens crack on phones that are in military grade cases, etc, etc. I've had this phone since February 2019 and have always shown it the utmost care. In fact, I've never had screen damage until 2 weeks ago so having to have your screen replaced within a 2-week time frame is more than cause for suspicion. On top of this, part of your $150 charge is $29 for what is labeled Pro Core; a charge for you're NOT being able to recycle the damaged part. I don't understand this and neither did Paul. John, I'd like to hear from you to understand what pressures your business might be under to justify its being so out of integrity to forego reason and responsibility to doing a good job. I took my phone in to get a battery replacement. I was struggling the other night to get the back cover off - hardest part - and decided it's not worth breaking it, the battery or display during the heating. Upon dropping it off the staff member who helped me was not the most welcoming, did not explain anything nor was he social when I tried to lighten the mood. I was getting the impression I interrupted his lunch and he wanted me out - flat and short answers I got. (I'm guilty of not wearing a mask when I walked in but did not put up a front when he asked I put one on - so I really don't think I did anything other than give them business). These guys might be great at repairs- I'll never know. I do know they are very rude. I called them on a Saturday to schedule a repair for the following day. I mentioned in the phone call that I would be sending a Task Rabbit to their store with my daughter's phone and asked if that was a problem. "No problem!" The gentleman on the phone stated. I also asked to pay in advance over the phone. The person on the phone told me that payment must be made in person. I then asked if the task rabbit could bring MY credit card to the store to pay. Again, "no problem!" Smash cut to the next day. My task rabbit is at the store and they are refusing the repair since it's not his phone and not his credit card. They call me to work this out and the new person on the phone informs me that all the above is against long-standing store policy. When I mention that I called the prev day and Paul told me that my plan was fine, the person on the phone told me "Paul wouldn't say that." Then, when I suggested a few options for us to resolve the issue, the person on the phone was rude and dismissive. I get that stores have policies. And I get that sometimes employees aren't aware or screw up. But to be rude to the customer when your employee screwed up boggles my mind. 0/10, never again. Edit. John the owner responded below. While they were nice people, I was really disappointed in the results. My iPhone camera lens cracked and I came to them to fix it. They replaced the lens with the wrong size, made it uneven, and didn't bother to clean the lens of dust before repairing it. It was so bad the camera couldn't focus on anything anymore and they said it wasn't anything on their end so it wasn't their fault. I knew it was though because I had worked before even with a broken lens glass. I brought it over to one of their competitors and they did a much better job and funnily enough, my camera can focus again. Money better spent at Ubreakifixit down the street. read more

They said it would take 30 mins. Came back and the phone had a new screen but the home button was unresponsive. When I pointed this to the guy who did it. He said "oh my higher ups said an iPhone 8 screen works on an SE. but looks like it doesn't. Let me go switch this crappy screen with possibly a crappier screen and if that doesn't work, I'll put back your old broken screen and send you on your way". I brought in my Xbox the other day because it kept shutting off on me with a red ring. I told Heath there that I assumed it was heat related but that I didn't know. Heath told me they would run diagnostics on it and charged me 50 bucks with the caveat that if something needed to be repaired then that 50 would come out of the repair price. When I came back to pick it up the person working there refused to give me his name and said he "ran it for a couple of hours and nothing happened" so they didn't end up doing anything. There are better ways to waste 50 bucks than having someone run your console for a couple of hours without doing anything with it. read more

They fixed the back of my phone and recommended a case of theirs. They assured me it would protect my phone so I wouldn't have to get it repaired again. They also assured me that were something to happen to the case the company would replace it at no cost. Less than a month after purchasing the case it broke. I reached out to the company and they discontinued all cases for my phone, so I was stuck with this broken case. As a result of the broken case, the back of my phone is broken again. I contacted the company to make this right and they have refused. DO NOT USE 1UP Repairs, their recommendations are worthless, their customer service is nonexistent and they are altogether a scam. This place is awesome. I Immediately felt welcomed and was helped instantly. My Microsoft surface had a bit of corrosion in the charge port. And I've sat on it for almost 3 years and two moves because I couldn't find places that could fix it or thought it was going to be a super expensive repair. Well, I believe his name was John helped me when I walked in. Super helpful, cleaned the battery port of all the corrosion, and said order a charger off Amazon and this should work, gave a firm but friendly hand shake and sent me on my way. They didn't try to check it in and "repair" it to make a quick buck. He said, "If that doesn't work, bring it back Monday and we'd be happy to fix it." I really appreciate these guys and there morality when it comes to their customers. If I could give 10 stars I would, and would've happily paid any repair costs to this business. I have had a good experience at both the Guadalupe and S. Lamar locations. This time I used S. Lamar location, was quoted a price over the phone and a fast repair time frame. It is odd when you turn your phone over to someone else and then realize how much you depend on it! The staff was super friendly both on the phone and in person. I received a return customer discount and my phone was ready in 30 minutes, as promised. I took my iPhone here for a cracked screen and thought they did an excellent job! The place was cheap $60 to replace my 6Plus screen)! Much cheaper than other places I looked at, at least (next least expensive was around the $100 mark, and that was with a Groupon). The employees were super friendly and they had my iPhone fixed within 30 minutes. They also said it was warrantied in case it didn't work (of course, not from further stupidity on my part). I called ahead of time to check on the pricing of replacing my cracked screen. The woman who picked up told me it would be $70, and that I could print a 10% off coupon online. I asked how I would show her the coupon if the screen was broken, and I couldn't get into my e-mail. She told me that I should just ignore the coupon and bring in the phone as that was the most important thing at this point. I brought my phone in to Paul (A great employee that was friendly and extremely pleasant to work with). After dropping it off, I waited about 15 minutes and it was ready! To my surprise, the same lady that had talked to me on the phone was checking me out. She said they fixed the screen but that the button would be an extra charge to fix. I was not told this beforehand and continued to tell her that they should tell customers that the button is not included, as I was unaware that it wasn't. The woman then proceeded to tell me, "Aren't you the guy that asked about the $20 repair shop at the mall?" and rolled her eyes. I replied that yes I was but I did not mention anything about $20, and that I was simply comparing prices and quality, just as any consumer should when making any sort of purchase. She proceeded to say , "If you want your broken screen back, I can just put that on and you can leave." It was at that point that I noticed the woman was just being flat out rude. I asked to talk to Paul because he was much more pleasant to work with and the woman told me that was the manager. (In my mind, I thought, if this is the customer service you plan on providing, good luck staying in business). She rolled her eyes, did not apologize, and walked away like a child who had been caught in a tantrum. Paul came out, and gave me an extremely friendly and thorough explanation of what was wrong, what was fixed, why certain things would cost more, and that he was sorry for not disclosing that the button couldn't be fixed. I would NOT work with this company again simply because they are not upfront about what is being replaced, and in my situation, the manager was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. I solicited the cost of a repair online and received a response within minutes. Not only did I receive a quick response I also received an offer to make an appointment coupled with a 10% off coupon. I was sold. I made my appointment, went in, and handed off the phone. John worked to get the super protective case off of my kid's phone. He then gave me the good news that only the case was broken and not the actual screen of the phone. I love this place. I've been taking phones here for years. I normally give my niece and nephews our hand me down phones and sometimes they need some TLC, but I don't want to give teenagers brand new phones because they seem to go through them like candy. I have at least 6 iPhone screens replaced, and just on Saturday, I went in to see if they could the charging port on my husbands old iPhone X. He took the phone and went in the back for about 1 minute, came back out and said I was all set. Every time I've been in there, anyone who's ever helped me, has been so nice and polite. And I'm super happy that they are considered essential during this Covid19 pandemic. They have signs up, and he was wearing a mask too. They have good rules set in place. I returned with my phone, they seemed happy and willing to address the issue..... but i was then told my motherboard was fried so to the screen that they had placed on my phone. Now i'm being told by corporate they aren't liable for the damages..... and i will be taking legal action this.
