When the serviceman from 1st Choice Central Texas left, I texted him and asked him to come back as the photos I took up inside the fireplace showed it was not clean. He said it was just soot and someone from the office would contact me to reschedule because he would not be returning. After waiting all afternoon, I texted a 2nd number the company had contacted me from and said I had safety concerns about our fireplace not being clean, but I received no response. I sent another text next day with no response. I contacted them several times through our Yelp messaging over the next couple of days, stating safety concerns and not being able to use the fireplace until we spoke with them, contacted them through their website form, and also left two courteous voicemail messages for their office letting them know we had safety concerns and asked for assistance. I had zero response to all of my efforts. I emailed and let them know I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and still received no response. I hired another company to come clean the fireplace and not only did he clean out a massive amount of soot and creosote left behind, he was stunned to find that the prior serviceman left his plastic brush and pole stuck up in the chimney. He gave it to me and I identified it as the brush the 1st Choice serviceman was using, as it was distinctive and particularly flimsy, which I noticed at the beginning of the clean. Things happen and if he had explained that his pole broke off and that he would have to come back with tools to get it out and finish cleaning, we could have moved forward. The basis for liability under negligence stems from an individual's failures to behave with the level of care that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances. He knowingly put our home and our personal safety at risk with a smoke and fire hazard, and that is egregious. It took months to settle our claim with our credit card company and get our money back. I've had time to consider my review and to post the facts without heightened emotion. Not cleaning the fireplace well and not returning calls for assistance is enough for a bad review but purposeful negligence is grounds for not being allowed to do business in this industry. We scheduled 2 fireplaces in our home to be inspected and cleaned. The scheduling process through Yelp was very efficient, I liked that feature a lot! I got an appointment within a few days, which was great since the weather was about to get cold. Our service technician was running behind, but he called and let us know when to expect him. Both of our fireplaces we're inspected, one needed a little work but didn't need cleaning. The service technician explained to us how to do that repair ourselves to save some money as it wasn't anything major. I highly recommend, we will definitely be using them again! read more

We paid a deposit of more than $2,000 months ago. They have stood us up on at least 6 occasions. I have left messages asking them to return my calls, but they blocked my number. They promised to show today to install a fireplace today and claimed he had the wrong vent pipe. He did not show up again. The property has video. I'd like to think that it is a mix-up, but in this case, it just is what it is. They are con-artists. I'm very suspicious of ANY positive reviews. read more

Very friendly and professional! Quick and clean chimney sweeping. Easy scheduling and they got me in quickly for follow up work.

Do not hire these people. I hired them to install a wood stove. Daylon came to my house and looked at the stove as well as all the chimney material I purchased. He stated he would install it for $650.00 and it would take about 4 hours and that he's installed hundreds of stoves. I didn't get this in writing. He came out with a helper and installed the stove and charged $825.00. I questioned this but paid, he said he would e-mail the receipt, I never got the receipt. I didn't like the install in that the box that should be in the attic was in the living room and he couldn't install the trim. Then the rains came and I had water leaking all through the stove into the living room. Daylon came out and put some more caulking around the cap it still leaked. I climbed up on the roof at this point. He installed the cap on top of the shingles. I found a roofer to fix this for $300.00. I asked for a $475.00 refund they text me back that they would refund the whole $825.00. Never happened and they won't respond to my text anymore. The last text message they replied with Lol, I don't think anything is funny about this. Pursuing this in small claims court. read more
