I have a one of a kind 31 inch stainless steel charcoal grill that I purchased in 2003 for ~$1000…read moreand I love my grill. Just this year in 2025, the two wheels both broke and gave out. I contacted every local establishment I could find online to inquire about having the wheels fixed and to have it cleaned (the last professional cleaning had been in maybe 2016) and Kurt from Bar-B-Clean was the only establishment that followed through in their communication and came through for me. By choice, we communicated by text, and Kurt offered to come out for an evaluation visit, but I asked if I could send him pictures and a video to save us both the time (see pics of damage, attached). He immediately said he could help me, whereas others went quiet with no follow up. We set up a time and that was it. Before and on the day of service, there was great reminders, through email and text about our upcoming appointment. I appreciated this. When the service technician arrived on time, (who was not Kurt but someone else on his team) all I had to do was show him where the grill was and the problem and he went to work on his own without needing assistance from me. At one point, the service tech asked me, since the grill was so old if I was interested in getting a new one instead and they will install it and take away my old one. I said absolutely as long as the new grill had all of the features that my old grill has and is equal to or less than the cost of what I would pay to have it fixed. He said he would check with Kurt and after consulting with him, they realized that the cost of a new grill with the same features would be around $3000-$5000. That was a no-brainer. So he continued to install the new wheels which he brought with him but those ended up being slightly smaller than what was required, and left the grill a little uneven (both wheels are on the right side of the grill). He said not to worry and that they had put the right size wheels on order and would come back no charge to install them once they arrive. He also cleaned my grill using what looked like some sort of drill cleaning tool thing. I didn't catch if he used any liquid cleaning solution, but the drill thing basically grinded down the surface layer of my cast-iron grill grates to remove all that gunk that had accumulated. He did use my backyard water hose, which was not a problem. I realize then that my cast-iron grill grates would have to be re-seasoned again and I was OK with that because that would have to be done no matter what. The whole process took about two hours and I was left with as clean of a grill as I was going to get for one that had 25 years of use and some rust. I was happy with the cleaning result. We were still left with the issue of the two wheels that were too small but they promised they had the right sized wheels on order and that they would come back and install them without charging me. The skeptic in me wondered if they would keep their word and come back since I paid them the full price of $571.05 for the wheel replacement and cleaning on the service day. Fast-forward 2 to 3 weeks after I had went out of the country and then returned I followed up with Kurt by text and inquired on the status. He assured me that the wheels were still on order and that he would contact me when they arrived to come out and install them. About a week went by sure enough I got a text from Kurt that they are ready to return to install the wheels. I said great and we set up a time and the technician showed up on time, installed the wheels (took about 10 minutes) and now they are perfect and everything looks great! I'm glad they kept their word and that the correct size wheels were installed because the smaller ones had already started to bow from taking too much weight from the grill. I am very happy with the results and so glad that I contacted Kurt and Bar-B-Clean. Pics coming soon of results.

They promptly called me back and…read morelet me know the repairs I needed were under warranty and I could save a lot of money by contacting the manufacturer, which I did. We will have our grill fixed at minimal cost thanks to Q4U Outdoorz's honest and trustworthy advice. They could have done the work and charged a premium but instead, they provided us with their expert knowledge and gained a future client for outdoor grill service. Highly recommend.

Andy charges $60 cash for the grill evaluation and then will send you a summary of the parts and labor needed for the repair. I received his summary of the parts and labor cost ($489.70) to repair the ignition system for a grand total of $547.70. I approved the repair cost and Andy returned a week or so later and completed the repair. I told Andy I wanted to put the $489.70 on a credit card (which they accept per their website) but he asked me if I could write a check instead, which I did. The second time I tried to light my grill there was NO spark coming from the ignition module. I replaced the battery to make sure that wasn't the problem, which it wasn't. So, I emailed Andy and asked him to return to my home to look at the grill, to which he said NO. He indicated he did not replace the ignition button or module and that was probably the problem. He wanted another $150/per hr. to look at my grill again. I asked him if he guaranteed his work to which he indicated "only the parts I replaced". I tried to stop payment of the check but of course he cashed it the very same day, knowing I could have contested a charge on my credit card. So, be aware of this guy and his business practices. Charging someone almost $600 to fix the ignition system and not replacing the ignition button or module is unacceptable! I would strongly recommend NOT using this guy or company.

1st Choice Central Texas - Pole & brush left stuck in the chimney by 1st Choice

He said it was just soot and someone from the office would contact me to reschedule because he would not be returning. After waiting all afternoon, I texted a 2nd number the company had contacted me from and said I had safety concerns about our fireplace not being clean, but I received no response. I sent another text next day with no response. I contacted them several times through our Yelp messaging over the next couple of days, stating safety concerns and not being able to use the fireplace until we spoke with them, contacted them through their website form, and also left two courteous voicemail messages for their office letting them know we had safety concerns and asked for assistance. I had zero response to all of my efforts. I emailed and let them know I would be filing a complaint with the BBB and still received no response. I hired another company to come clean the fireplace and not only did he clean out a massive amount of soot and creosote left behind, he was stunned to find that the prior serviceman left his plastic brush and pole stuck up in the chimney. He gave it to me and I identified it as the brush the 1st Choice serviceman was using, as it was distinctive and particularly flimsy, which I noticed at the beginning of the clean. Things happen and if he had explained that his pole broke off and that he would have to come back with tools to get it out and finish cleaning, we could have moved forward. The basis for liability under negligence stems from an individual's failures to behave with the level of care that someone of ordinary prudence would have exercised under the same circumstances. He knowingly put our home and our personal safety at risk with a smoke and fire hazard, and that is egregious. It took months to settle our claim with our credit card company and get our money back. I've had time to consider my review and to post the facts without heightened emotion. Not cleaning the fireplace well and not returning calls for assistance is enough for a bad review but purposeful negligence is grounds for not being allowed to do business in this industry. The business office of this company has no excuse for failure to respond.
