We purchased an entire new metal roof system from them approximately 7 years ago in 2018 and also a matching new metal roof in 2024 for our garage building. At the time of installation in 2018, they did not replace the existing flashing from the original 18 yr old asphalt roof around our chimney. They did not consult us about this decision nor give us an option as to their recommendations on leaving the previous flashing intact or what the additional cost would be to replace (and match) the flashing to the new metal roof (which didn't even match!). We only noticed after the fact that they did not replace it and when we inquired about why it wasn't replaced, they told us they didn't bother replacing it b/c it looked like it was in good shape so they left it....Turns out it wasn't! Fast forward to only 7 years after the brand new metal roof was installed to the summer of 2025 when we had a lot of rain. Water came in our living room ceiling, dripped down the walls and windows, and pooled on the floor. A crack had developed in the solder joint around the chimney flashing (which we were told was in good shape!) which resulted in causing water damage inside our home. Now we are looking at a total of about $10,000 worth of damage to pay for water restoration, new sheetrock/insulation/possibly decking/frame, proper roof/flashing repairs around the chimney, and drywall installation/paint/texture/repair. The company took forever to get back with us and are not willing to pay for their error or properly repair their mistake. We could understand if they communicated with us at the time of install about our options (to either replace or just leave the chimney flashing) and they offered to put on new flashing for an additional amount at purchase and we decided against it. We were not given that option. They made an error in judgment and it's cost us time, money, and frustration. We were very patient with them reminding them that we chose to work with them bc of their good reputation, good reviews, and good BBB A+ rating. I hope they learn from this and this doesn't happen to anyone else. They need to communicate more thoroughly with their customers before making such decisions that could prove costly for them down the road especially knowing that they will be on their own to pay for their (1st Capital's) mistakes. read more

1st Capital Certified Roofing - leak in ceiling - Roofing Near Me

First Capital Roofing was A+++! After getting several bids, not only was First Capital the most reasonable, but they also did the most thorough inspection prior to the bid to make sure we really did need a full roof replacement (instead of a major repair). Their team was communicative, transparent and efficient. The project came in under budget and faster than expected. I have complete confidence in First Capital. For the first time since owning my dream home, I can rest assured that my roof is not going to be a problem. First Capital gets my complete and utmost recommendation/review. I will be suggesting them to friends and family any time someone has a roofing issue. read more

Great service to inspect the problem-I contacted 1st Capital Certified Roofing regarding a vent leak in one of my roof gables. They diagnosed the problem and recommended a solution that was not repairing the roof- because it was not the roof causing the leak. My home was under 4 years old. I found a contractor to make the repair and fix the leak coming in from the gable vent- no problems since! read more

My name is Bob, I recommend 1st Capital Certified Roofing for your roofing needs. On Thursday October 29th, Austin was blasted by Mother Nature, wind was 30-40 MPH. A section of roofing material was blown off and could not tell if it came from my roof. I called 1st Capital Certified Roofing, and within one hour of the phone contact, a representative was at my home and checked my roof. He found no damage to my roof but, noted my nextdoor neighbors roof had sustained roof damage from the wind. The went over and notified them about their roof. I totally recommend 1st Capital Certified Roofing to friends and all others in need for a Roofing Service that is very reliable. 1ST Capital Certified came to my rescue after Austin Bitter freeze, I thank you 1st Capital Certified Roofing for responding after the big freeze. read more

Well, like a lot of people in Austin we got hit with lots of ice and our roof got hit with lots of tree limbs and branches. My wife and I were concerned about any damage the roof may have suffered so I reached out to Josh and less than 12 hours later he responded and a few hours after that Josh was on my roof checking it out. Luckily everything was as good as the day they installed it. If you live in the Austin area and are in need of a roofing expert give 1st Capital a call, they are the BEST! Thanks Josh! read more

Wow, did you know you do not have to be licensed to do roofing in Austin? I bought a house that supposedly had a new roof put on by the previous owner by M & J Roofing and Remodeling which did a terrible job. Neighbors said it took over two weeks to complete (normally a day or two tops) and I have found that Manual H. Rivera basically shingled over rotted wood and missing decking and will not honor his warranty. Super shady guy. Run from that guy. I turned to NextDoor and found a handyman / contractor. He pointed out some of the rot. However, he too did a hatch job and did not fix or seal anything the right way. He was unreliable and came in the middle of the night to do repairs. Sigh. My realtor referred me to "Pip" Savage at 1st Capital Certified Roofing and Restoration and I cannot say enough about him. He came and inspected the roof free, and he saw the areas that were in immediate need of attention and he said he would make these small fixes for FREE. For free, for no reason other than he is a nice and honest roofer. I am almost fell over. I don't think I have ever had an honest person work on this house yet. He told me what needed to happen, and what didn't need to happen and didn't make stuff up or sell me a bunch of stuff that I didn't have to do. An HONEST roofer. I highly recommend him and 1st Capital Certified Roofing and Restoration. read more

My father was looking to replace his roof. It was past the 15 years that it was made for. Ben and his company came and gave a bid that was reasonable. Through me he help my parents and in a timely manner replaced a very old roof. Great job read more

Our home required some routine roof maintenance. I reached out to 1st Capital Certified on their website following a reference received and Ben called me within an hour. After inspecting the roof Ben gave me the details of the work to be done together with some options on getting the work done. They arrived on time as agreed and all the work was completed within agreed time frame. Additional work had to be done once tiles had been removed, but they got the work done without delay. I was continuously informed of progress and this was also reflected in the final account, which was adjusted for additional work, but also for work not required as initially expected. In summary, I found Ben to be honest and engaging and would highly recommend 1st Capital Certified. read more

I just had my roof completed and can't give enough praise for 1st Capital Certified Roofing. From my initial contact with Micah Dyer, I was treated with a great overview and easily set up a time for an inspection. When Micah and Josh McDaniel showed up for the inspection, they gave me a detailed report of the damage that they found and let me know what the process was if I chose to use their company. Once I decided on 1st Capital Certified, I met Andrew Ramos, and he became my point of contact for communication. Andrew was thorough in making sure I understood the bid and how the process worked with my insurance. He answered all my questions and kept me updated throughout the process to make sure I understood where we were at any given time. Installation day went smoothly as well. Of course it was noisy (as expected), but Andrew and his team showed up at the scheduled time and were finished and had everything cleaned up before 4pm. Overall, it was a great experience and everyone I interacted with was professional and helped me understand the process . I recommend them for your roofing needs. read more

I called 1st Capital Certified Roofing for a bid the Thursday before Labor Day weekend. They came out the following day and were very nice. They said due to the long weekend the bid would take around 5 days. 3 weeks later I hadn't heard anything (and continued to get more bids). I called Ben to see about this bid. He apologized, said he was embarrassed. I understood. He said he'd get with Adam to see what happened and get the bid out ASAP. I never heard back. Today, I called Ben to ask if it is still possible to get this bid. He said the same things he said before, that he's embarrassed and he would talk to Adam... etc... I tried to be very polite and asked if there is a better way to ensure that I get a bid/response from them. He immediately said, "Due to this conversation, I think it's best of you just find someone else to do the work." I know what it sounds like, I must have been rude to him, but I really wasn't. I'm not leaving anything out. I just wanted the bid. He didn't seem to like being held just a little accountable. I'm sure their work is top-notch, but my experience with Ben and 1st Capital Certified Roofing has been frustrating. My guess is, they didn't want to work on my older house so they blew me off instead of being up front and saying they weren't interested. read more

I had a roof leak around an exhaust pipe at my house in Buda that started a couple months ago. I called around to a few different roofers to repair it and they either they didn't call back or were not interested in coming out to my house, as if it wasn't worth their time. Finally, one of them agreed to come out for an estimate and gave me a number that was extremely high...Then I connected with Ben at 1st Capital Certified roofing. He was extremely pleasant to talk to on the phone and followed up with questions via text. He stopped by that same afternoon to take a look at the leak and give an estimate. His son Josh came by later that day and fixed the problem in about an hour. All for 70% less than the estimate I was given by the other company. I can't recommend them enough, 5 stars. read more

Pros: Quick response, provided good quality of work and materials, accepted all of the terms laid out by our insurance adjuster, completed the job within 5 days after first contacting them, gave me an upgrade on the singles for free. Cons: Can't think of any. I live in San Marcos and a storm caused enough damage to our roof that it needed replacing. When our insurance adjuster came out to inspect the roof, he informed us that in addition to needing a new roof, we also needed someone to come out immediately to put a tarp over a section of the roof where the wooden frame was exposed because it was going to rain later that night and the rain would cause more damage to the house. Immediately after the adjuster left our house that morning, I began calling every roofer in San Marcos but no one was available. Apparently, many houses in San Marcos had their roofs damaged by the storm. Later that morning, I came across 1st Capital Certified on the Better Business Bureau's website and even though 1st Capital Certified is based out of Austin rather than locally, I decided to give them a shot. Contacting them was super easy and quick - no leaving voice messages, no waiting for a callback, etc. The person I spoke with, Ben, asked me to text him my contact information, which I did, and he texted back saying he would personally come by the house (from Austin) at noon to put up the tarp. Sure enough, Ben (and Vassil) were at my house at noon to put up the tarp. At that point, I had a good feeling about 1st Capital and decided that they would be replacing our roof. I gave them all of my insurance information on the day they put up the tarp. The next morning (Saturday), they came to the house at around 8 to 8:30 (like they said they would) to show us our options on shingles and to sign the contract. On Tuesday morning, all of the supplies were delivered to the house. Construction began the next morning and by the end of Wednesday, we had a new roof. I am very happy with 1st Capital Certified. I don't even think they charged us for coming out all the way from Austin just to put up a small tarp. I highly recommend 1st Certified Capital Roofing, even if you live all the way in San Marcos. read more

I highly recommend Ben Sutterfield with 1st Capital Certified Roofing company for any roof repairs that you may need. Ben is a Haag Certified Roofing Inspector who quickly assessed the damage which occurred from high winds & horizontal rains during the spring/summer seasons in our area. The leaks were the result of faulty flashing installation when the roof was replaced. Ben scheduled the repair within two days after the assessment and completed the repair on two sections of the roof within one day. This company deserves the 5 star rating. read more

Kerry and Ben are not just roofers, they are also highly experienced at what we call 'Building Sciences'. These guys know much, much more than the average roofer. In Texas anyone can call themselves a roofer. These guys at 1st Capital took the time and gained the experience to become HAAG certified roofing inspectors. This is the highest industry standard and it means they care much more about their work than most roofers. Rather than showing up and trying to just sell a new roof (which is what everyone else tried to do) Kerry took a lot of time inspecting the inside and outside of the house. We had many water leaks and he really went the extra mile to determine what needed to be done. As it turns out, the house did need a new roof but it also needs masonry repairs. Kerry had Ben come out and look at everything. They found some holes in the masonry that I did not see before. Ben and Kerry were true professionals. Rather than try to upcharge for the masonry and the interior repairs they offered to just recommend some guys to me for those areas. That is something I really liked. They did do the roof at an excellent and fair price. Also, unlike other contractors, they didn't try to sell me an attic fan. If your roof has ridge vents, you most likely don't need an attic fan. All in all they were in and done in two days. Very professional crew worked hard and cleaned up. What I think I liked the most was the professional work ethic and their willingness to educate me about roofs and masonry. read more
