Very disappointed. We had been looking forward to eating here after seeing a positive review on Phantom Gourmet. The wait staff were OK but did not expend a lot of energy. Staff and the owner spent most of their time talking to one patron. I thought owners were supposed to walk around to make sure their customers were happy. The bread before the meal was gummy. The street corn appetizer was good. My husband liked the flavor of his steak tips but brought most of them because his jaws were tired from chewing. My lamb burger was overcooked, the fries were bland. My husband really like the German Chocolate cake. My Apple Cobbler was fine but I've made better myself. Sticker shock when the check came....$10 For corn? $19 for a lamb burger? If the food was worth the price tag we would have been OK with a check for $100. My husband and I came here on a whim after hearing all the buzz surrounding it. Impromptu date night. Overall we loved it. Everything we got was delicious. To start there was a decent wait. The hostess best guess was 40 minutes. We hit it just at the time families were still out with kids and date nighters were also heading out to eat. So I would say a 40 minute wait isn't so bad or at least what I would have expected on a Friday. Especially since the place isn't that large. We did eventually get a couple seats at the bar, but still opted to wait for a table since the bar isn't that big and every seat was filled. They had some nice bears on tap, but be warned that they are 7.00 each. I think because they are local or small breweries (though I was still surprised). The bottles of beer are 5 and 6. When we sat down at our table I got a red sangria. It was 11, but I figured since I spent 7 on a beer anything goes at that point. It was fine. It didn't have a ton of flavor, but it was okay. It kind of tasted watered down. I would try something else next time. We got the Bib salad (which they split for us) and the calamari to start. The salad was delicious. The Parmesan cheese crisp on the side was a nice touch. The Parmesan dressing had a smokey bacon like flavor to it. The calamari had a very light batter and was tossed with arugula and aoli. It was the best calamari we have ever had. It was light, not oily, and you didn't get any of the chewy pieces. It was like butter. Our pizza which we got for our main was wonderful. The crust was nice and light. We got a 1/2 and 1/2 (which you cannot do with the seafood pizzas). 1/2 was their mushroom pizza and the other was the meatball. Loved both sides and I don't eat red meat. I almost think I preferred the meatball. My husband ate the crust, and he never eats crust. They had a special pizza: lobster with asparagus and corn. It looked great, but I wasn't in a place to commit to those toppings on a whole sheet pizza... maybe if we could have done a half I would have tried it. It seemed too heavy and I wanted some variety. Then to round off my evening of over indulgence we got a vanilla bread pudding and an Irish coffee (Jameson and baileys and a dollop of fresh whipped cream). The bread pudding was pretty good. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but good. I was full and happy. So now I am sitting at work daydreaming about the pizza and hoping that the next one will be just as good. read more

My 3 girl friends and I tried 16C almost a week after it opened and based on the service, decor, and of course food you would've thought it was a thriving restaurant for years! They really had it together from the moment we walked in the door. The super friendly hostess greeted us upon our arrival and found a spot for us in no time even though the place was full of people and energy (on a Tuesday night!) It was a great sign- people were enjoying this place. They also have a long bar on one side of the restaurant which seems like it'd be a great spot for drinks (awesome wine list btw), snacks, a quick bite or a pizza. The decor was warm and charming. I liked how you could see the chefs working and preparing the food in the kitchen. Cool touch. Even though the place was bustling with patrons it was not loud which we loved. We were able to enjoy table conversation without having to speak loudly. So the food... we ordered the tasting antipasti which had a few different little snacks to start us off. Marinated olives, burrata mozzarella, artichokes and a small little mixed bean salad that was so delicious! Something for everyone to share. We split the pepperoni pizza (my favorite- cooked perfectly- pepperoni was crispy, generous garlic on soft dough crust) and the meatball pizza. I seriously couldn't stop thinking about how good they both were the next day! (So much so we are meeting friends there again this weekend). One of the girls got the "Quiet Man" steak tips and she said they were just as awesome as she remembered them years ago from their original home that made them famous at the Quiet Man Pub in South Boston. She ate them all before I could steal one so I'll have to get them this weekend! We were too full to try the ice cream that I've heard is delicious! I definitely recommend this place for dinner or a quick snack and a drink at the bar! Oh! Another bonus! You can park in the big parking lot across from Quincy courthouse I believe? (definitely in front of the Fours Restaurant) and walk up the alley way to the right of The Fours and you end up practically at the doorstep of 16C. How awesome is that? The previous location housed an old dingy pub. 16c however has transformed this space into a bright modern bar and dinning area. There is even seating with a view into the kitchen area. The lunch menu had some sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and small plates. I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was delicious. I was looking forward to dining at 16C, the place was hopping like a typical Saturday night should. The restaurant is very well designed with an open kitchen and a long bar however I am not sure why they separated the bar area between the few tables in the dining room with a wall since the place is not that large. That wall reminded me of old Finians on Hancock Street. An all open space would have been much cooler especially when you embrace the open kitchen idea. Also I am not sure if Led Zeppelin, Rolling stones, Aerosmith is the personality of 16C. I love Classic Rock but exciting music is more appropriate for a Saturday night. While waiting for a table and having a drink, two seats opened up so we decided to eat at the bar. On the Positive side bar service was great, prices are more than fair, the wine by the glass was a very generous pour. The Bibb and the Romaine Salads were exquisite. The bad: the Meatballs appetizer was room temperature and needed a bit of seasoning and the Margherita Pizza did not taste anything like a authentic Margherita. Terrible service extremely rude didn't even get a chance to try the food. It's a long story read it if you would like, but if you don't want to read it just know I have never written a review in my life no matter how bad the place was. I was not happy. Called ahead to make reservations told us they had enough for the night and weren't accepting anymore. Showed up was told over an hour wait so we went down the street to get drinks since the bar was also full. Called us right when our drinks came, about 20min, and told us our table was ready. I said we weren't ready since we had been told it would be over an hour and asked if they could put our names at the end of the list again. They told us ok and would let us know if another table opened up which it probably would. Walked back after not hearing anything for an hour+ and they told us they had not put our names at the bottom of the list because you had to be there in person to do it. We told them never mind we would eat somewhere else. Left went somewhere else on my way home about hour and a half later (~9:30pm) they called me to let me know my table was ready. From the moment I walked in to put our names in the first time they were rude and and pompous. I've been to some bad places, but I've have never been treated so poorly. I did not make the first call about reservations, but I was told they were treated the same way. Go there if you'd like I have heard they have good food. I don't plan on trying again and neither do the five other people I was with. Personally I would go to Alba which is right next door. Great food and great staff even when they are packed. read more

They have good ingredients and types of pizzas. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of their crust. It's flat, hard, and chewy. It was difficult to eat the left overs the next day. This is the best brunch in Quincy and the South Shore. I have never had such perfectly seasoned and crispy smashed potatoes. The bacon is thick and meaty. What a great addition to Quincy Center! Kerri Lynch-Delaney did a remarkable job renovating the place. For those of you on the craft beer craze, there is a nice selection to choose from; don't worry, there are the BL's, Coors, and your usual domestic brews for you folks, too! The bartenders know how to make a killer cocktail, and the wine list is great. Just this past weekend while celebrating my younger brother's college graduation with our larger family, we ordered 4 different trays - margharita, clam, meatball, and cheese; each one tasty in its own right with some of the best dough around. A few got the Quiet Man Steak Tips, which seemed to have been a great choice. I was lucky enough to steal a steak tip and was a bit jealous I didn't order my own plate. While the food and drinks are great, the draw for me is the cozy atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff, starting at the top with Kerri. Kerri stopped by our table to introduce herself to my family and thank us for stopping, and was sure to check-in frequently throughout our dinner. Our waitress, Kaleigh, was great - professional, funny, and damn good. It's great to see a new place open up and attracting the crowds one could hope for. 16C seems to have caught on, as there is usually a line of hungry patrons waiting to try it out for the first time, or for the locals who have found their new spot. We went over for the Quiet Man steak tips. These were the tips we fell in love with. So I was skeptical. They didn't disappiont. I did like the salad even though it didn't come in wooden bowls of original. The slice of tasted bread was ok. The rice was ok too. The hot peppers were awesome. The meal did bring me back to a time not too long ago. The German cake was disappointing. Not so fresh and a slightly old frosting taste. The wait staff was great. Very attentive. read more

I was so excited to try this place but for some reason I never made it there until a few weeks ago. My Mom and I went on a weeknight shortly after they opened so we were the only customers. Even with that, it took the waitress 10 minutes to come over. I ordered one of their signature drinks which was some raspberry vodka drink. At $14 I expected a good drink but it was awful, and I don't think they even put any alcohol in it. We both ordered the "famous steak tips". There were 4 of them with a side of rice for $21. I don't mind paying for good food but they were just ok. The rice had a weird smell to it although it tasted ok. The waitress never came back once to see if we wanted another drink or how the food was. I would have understood if it was busy, but we were the only people there except for one other party that came in about 15 minutes after us. I hesitated to write this review, because I know 16c is locally owned, but they really need to improve their food and service for the prices they are charging and the competition in that area. I will stick to the Fat Cat, the Fours, or Alba if I'm going to Quincy Center for dinner. Cronin's steak tips blow them away anyway and I have always had great food and service there. read more

Had the clam pizza and no complaints here! The crust was the perfect ratio of crispy and chewy, and the clams on top were perfect; not tough or chewy as this can sometimes be the case. Lively scene even early at 5pm on a Friday night. The broccoli Caesar, broccoli pieces tossed in their house made dressing,then seared and topped with thinly shaved parm, was also hit to my taste buds. A very welcome addition to Quincy center! Busy Saturday. Party of 6 with reservations for 6:30. Seated right away. Tara (I think) was our server. This meal was nothing short of fantastic. Three of us ordered the Quiet Man Tips. They were tender, perfectly cooked and delicious. The rice pilaf that accompanied the tips had a very different, very deep flavor. None of us could identify it, but this was the best rice pilaf I have ever tasted. One party had the burger and pronounced it "terrific". Two ordered the fig and prosciutto sheet. Too large for 2, so we all got a slice. This was the hit of the evening. On my next visit, and. with a 30 mile drive, there will be another visit, that is what we will order. We were seated right away. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Service was quick and before I knew it my flat bread and fries (I was on a diet) were on the table. We ordered the garlic wings and pizza, half buffalo chicken and sausage. The chicken tasted off on both the pizza and the wings themselves which ruined the experience. Celebrated my birthday at 16C lastnight. It was very busy for a Sunday which I took as a good sign. All I have to say is WOW! The beet salad was delicious and beautifully presented, I had the fig and prosciutto pizza, 2of my friends had a pepper and onion pizza and the other 2 both had the chicken brick entree. It was all gorgeous to look at and tasted even better. The pizzas are enough to serve at least 2-3 and even 4 people if you have a salad or app first. Also if you request it you can get 1/2 one style and 1/2 another. Can't wait to go back! read more

I went to 16C last night with a friend without reservations. The restaurant was booked for the night with other customers with reservations but the owner took her time reviewing all the times and eventually found us a spot. She warned us our table would be needed by 7pm and that was fine we were just grateful to get a seat. We were greeted by a lovely waitress Abby. She was so friendly an attentive. We ordered drinks and I had been there previously with coworkers and the bartender remembered someone had a food allergy so sent Abby back to make sure we didn't have allergies, just so thoughtful! The spinach and artichoke dip was not your traditional dip it had bacon in it adding a smokey flavor and it was to die for. Much to our surprised the owner figured out all seating arrangements and we got to stay longer than expected. It was such a great evening I can't recommend 16C more. The food is great, the staff is beyond excellent and it just a perfect place for a night out. read more
