I also have started bringing my own skates. However, if you don't have your own, roller skates are included in your entry fee, but roller blades are an extra cost. They recently redid the rink during COVID, so the wood floors are nice and smooth now! They have arcade games, a mini cafe with snacks and concession foods. There are also lockers that you can rent for a quarter to put your shoes and keys in while you skate. It is definitely a mom and pop kinda feel, family owned and run. Pre COVID, there was one adult skate night where they handed out cupcakes for the owners birthday. Another time we showed up to skate for the last half hour and the lady at the front counter gave us a discount since there was only a little time left to skate. I don't ever expect this to happen again, but it was a kind gesture that you really only get with locally owned places. My one complaint is that they play the same 90s rap music during Adult Skate Night. I wish they would mix it up. However, I'm so glad there is a skate rink still open and operating in Springfield.

You pay full price to get into a two hour window of skating, they don't tell you when you pay if you are 5 minutes into that window or an hour and forty five minutes into that window. You would think they would say, "oh, you know you only have 20 minutes left to skate, right?" Nope. They'll take your money and blame you for the confusion. Then when you finally get out to skate, they clear the floor every couple of songs in order to play some stupid game that almost nobody wants to play. THEN they kick all the kids off the floor so that only adults can skate the last song that THEN opens the floor up for the next hour to ONLY adults. I swear, I have land, money, time and now desire to open up a skate park that is actually nice and doesn't have owners that are trying to fund their retirement and their grandkids retirement off the backs of their skaters, which really wouldn't be THAT bad if they offered a beautiful place to skate. I've only had this fire lit under me two other times in this life but I've accomplished my goals both of the other times and this time I am going to start tomorrow on working on this. I want this place out of business or completely reformed by the end of summer. They have become complacent by being the only place here in Springfield. I am going to change that. This place reset their hours during Covid, they crapped over their customers because they can. I aim to change that. I am SHOCKED at the ineptitude being practiced at this place. And the arrogance of the owner blew my mind. I have no words. I'm speechless. I am actually pissed to the point of doing something. Skateland, count your remaining days.

The Ozark Community Center, or OC for short, is a great resource for Ozark and the surrounding…read morearea. The facility is a green certified building and includes an indoor aquatic center, basketball/volleyball courts, fitness center with weights and cardio machines, fitness classes like yoga and Zumba, a massage therapist and personal trainers, and meeting rooms. It also houses the Ozark park board, so it's the place to sign up for team sports like soccer and baseball. Daily childcare is available at the OC while you work out, and they also host day camps, summer camps, and kids night out events. The OC is also a trail head for a trail that runs west along the Finley river toward the downtown area and east through a small arboretum and into the woods. My family has spent quite a bit of time at the OC doing everything from swim lessons and birthday parties to day camps and volleyball games. The facility is always very clean. The kids love the pool and have always had a great experience with the swim lessons and sports leagues that we've participated in. The day camps and summer camps are always well organized and well staffed. The only negative I can list is that they seem to be disorganized on the operations side at times. I have friends who have registered and paid for events/lessons/sports only to be told that there is no room for their kids. We had a membership, and when it expired, there was no notification or invitation to renew. As a small business owner, I contacted the gentleman in charge of team sports to see if there were sponsorship opportunities and was told that they didn't really have anything. It's not often that I call an organization to see if I can give them some money and they say, "nah. not interested." I've also noticed that the member check in is at an unmanned desk. It makes me wonder how many people just walk in and use the facility without paying, or just use their friend's membership card to make the machine go "beep". Overall, I think the OC is a great facility. I would love to see them tidy things up a bit on the back side so that it can continue to provide great services to our community.

We are a newly retired couple a decade apart, and found a spot for all ages, including our college aged daughter who beat us to this establishment from MSU. For downtown it does not get any better. Fun, food, fabulousness. The best pizza, pizza, pizza, wings, and ice cold beer, heck yeah. Affordable, thought the owner had made a mistake as like so rarely affordable. Now let's talk about the owner, Collin, he was kind, cool, generous, gracious, humble and as we went at an off hour we had the pleasure to get to know him. One of Springfield's finest imo of living here 40 years nearly. The owner can make it or break it, he rocks it. We hope to go back every week as this is a special place, almost hate to share--but my job is to write real talk reviews. I'm going to try every big slice this summer! Now you try.

Our kids are 5 and 3.5 (twins) and they always have a blast. It's one of the few year round places for very young kids to burn off some extra energy and it's small enough that I feel like I can let them go and get some much needed relaxation even if its on a bench with my headphones on. Being business owners ourselves we know how hard it is to balance the expectations of the customers while still turning a profit so for this reason I feel like it's good value for money; especially if you can spend at least 2 hours there. Recommend avoiding weekends for the obvious reasons but if you can go during the week it's much quieter!!

There are also many benches scattered about for rest. Thus, it's very friendly to people of all ages and abilities.  A section leading to the elephant and bears has some hills and requires effort to walk, so if you'd like to avoid that, just skip those animals. The zoo has many peacocks that roam the grounds. You will have many opportunities to see them on buildings, fences or simply reading or walking, frequently with their feathers in full display. The train is best for children, as it simply goes in a circle around some water--it's not a tour of the zoo.
