Anytime Fitness…read more.. I've been going to gyms off and on since the '70s. In '88 I was in a nearly fatal one-car rollover. Spending over a year in hospitals and years of lessened activity, my muscles were becoming atrophied. Unable to do many of the things once done with ease...walk, talk, stand, sit, bend, grasp, lift, hold, or do basic functions. I found a good fit here at Anytime Fitness. They are patient with us disAbled people, not all gyms are. I've been a "Silver Sneaker's" member here since 2015 when my daughter and I left Minnesota. But again, only off and on. Until that is - the new owners, Wyatt and Marsha, rescued this "Anytime." It is no longer your ordinary, cookie-cutter gym. I now attend at least three times a week and am noticing improvements, and feeling the burn. Marsha always seems to be on hand to guide and help. She is fit and trim and a great example of what can be achieved. She leads individuals and groups in various fitness programs. She set me up with equipment to better my glutes, core, abs, pectorals and more. The place has never been so clean as it has been since their takeover. I am totally impressed with their love of the gym. Wyatt, her in shape husband, is fit and keeps the machines in good working order. They obviously live the life of health and fitness. Remember, "We don't stop playing because we get old. We get old because we stop playing," George Bernard Shaw. I am 66.

The area is very open, and even when the parking lot is full the building doesn't seem that way. They have a walking track, basketball court, break area, pool, aerobics, rock wall, and full weight area. The good; I love that this place is so big, and that it doesn't seem packed. Their weight room is extensive, and has plenty of free weights and machines to fit any need. A rock wall who else has that?! And a few nice places to just relax. The bad; The majority of weight machines have seen better day's. Lot's are rusted, and cracked. Some of the weights don't seem to accurate. Also the track is a bit narrow; you really can't walk with more than one other person. And if two people are slow it's hard to pass them on the straight aways. I also noticed today that some people were running full-court basketball. Sure they had enough people, but this might be an issue if you just wanted to shoot some hoops on a Saturday. I also didn't notice any side activities like there are at my regular gym; pool, table tennis, and video games. I also hate that the use gobs of paper towels to clean the machines, what a waste "IMO" All in all its a nice gym, and serves its purpose. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I am also a Silver Sneaker member but today I came with my granddaughters who are out of school. The older ladies working the front desk acted like it was such an inconvenience to wait on us. Then proceeded to let us know that none of the amenities for children are available until after 4 so that older members can enjoy it. Even the lifeguards were grumpy! School is out and kids should be able to enjoy the facilities! Isn't that what parks are for? What a shame! I have family that retired from the park board and they are appalled too. I was also disgusted by the restrooms and changing room. They smelled of urine terribly!

I recently went to my local Planet Fitness which I have been a customer for years. Well, basically I will no longer be purchasing anything inside Planet Fitness if I even choose to maintain member ship status. I will bring my own water, and/or tanning supplies. They will be getting zero $0 add-ons from this customer. I'm extremely disappointed in this company. I'm already sharing my frustration with whomever want to listen. One of my room mates, a female says she cancelled and is inquiring at Club Genesis for an alternate workout place. It is quite likely I may do the same.

This is it, the gym that has something for everyone!…read more Convenient location downtown, both on and off street parking, and very secure (member key fab required for entry, cameras in public areas, etc). Your first impression will be receiving a friendly greeting from their staff at the counter. When they aren't helping welcome members in, they can be seen actively cleaning so everything is spotless from workout areas to the bathrooms and locker rooms. I don't know how many square feet the facility is, but the layout is great in that workout rooms are divided out so it's not so open and intimidating as other big box gyms I've been to. Whether you want to workout on your own, work with a personal trainer, try CrossFit, powerlifting, or even body building, they have you covered. It feels like a family environment to be greeted by name by the friendly staff. I enjoy feeling welcomed and not intimidated like other places I've tried. Get down there and try out a free session. Weight room is bigger than some, with 3 racks plus Smith, a cable machine, leg presses, etc. Only thing I didnt see was an EZ curl bar, but no big deal. They also have bumper plates and rubberized mats on the floor for deadlifts. (They also have lots of sign threatening charges for "dropping weights," not re-racking your weights, or "leaning weights against the wall.") So be warned, I suppose. I haven't had much interaction with staff here, but from what I can recall, they've been friendly. It's not the shiniest or prettiest AF I've been to, but it's got it where it counts. They've also got a vending machine with drinks. Would definitely come back.

I tried hitting up some other gyms but when I made it clear I wasn't interested in joining a cult or taking out a second mortgage on my house they quickly lost interest in me. The manager here was super friendly and willing to take the time to speak to me without undue pressure. The free weights and cardio machines were adequate for my use but the place is probably geared more for the casual user than the gym rats who want to grunt, groan and slam weights around like Neanderthals. So if you don't need a river of testosterone flowing around you but rather a pleasant place to work out without being judged by how many tires you can flip over than this is the place for you.
