The indoor pool: lap swim, lazy river water slides, and shallow play
    Fawn R.

The Ozark Community Center, or OC for short, is a great resource for Ozark and the surrounding area. The facility is a green certified building and includes an indoor aquatic center, basketball/volleyball courts, fitness center with weights and cardio machines, fitness classes like yoga and Zumba, a massage therapist and personal trainers, and meeting rooms. It also houses the Ozark park board, so it's the place to sign up for team sports like soccer and baseball. Daily childcare is available at the OC while you work out, and they also host day camps, summer camps, and kids night out events. The OC is also a trail head for a trail that runs west along the Finley river toward the downtown area and east through a small arboretum and into the woods. My family has spent quite a bit of time at the OC doing everything from swim lessons and birthday parties to day camps and volleyball games. The facility is always very clean. The kids love the pool and have always had a great experience with the swim lessons and sports leagues that we've participated in. The day camps and summer camps are always well organized and well staffed. The only negative I can list is that they seem to be disorganized on the operations side at times. I have friends who have registered and paid for events/lessons/sports only to be told that there is no room for their kids. We had a membership, and when it expired, there was no notification or invitation to renew. As a small business owner, I contacted the gentleman in charge of team sports to see if there were sponsorship opportunities and was told that they didn't really have anything. It's not often that I call an organization to see if I can give them some money and they say, "nah. not interested." I've also noticed that the member check in is at an unmanned desk. It makes me wonder how many people just walk in and use the facility without paying, or just use their friend's membership card to make the machine go "beep". Overall, I think the OC is a great facility. I would love to see them tidy things up a bit on the back side so that it can continue to provide great services to our community.

It's okay. One kid pooped in the pool one time. The lifeguards are homophobic and blow the whistle when I didn't do anything.

The gym is always overly packed. You have to wait a while for the machines. The trails need some work

There is a large pool for aqua-size and lap swimming and a super fun lazy river and connected circular pool.

Anytime Fitness…read more.. I've been going to gyms off and on since the '70s. In '88 I was in a nearly fatal one-car rollover. Spending over a year in hospitals and years of lessened activity, my muscles were becoming atrophied. Unable to do many of the things once done with ease...walk, talk, stand, sit, bend, grasp, lift, hold, or do basic functions. I found a good fit here at Anytime Fitness. They are patient with us disAbled people, not all gyms are. I've been a "Silver Sneaker's" member here since 2015 when my daughter and I left Minnesota. But again, only off and on. Until that is - the new owners, Wyatt and Marsha, rescued this "Anytime." It is no longer your ordinary, cookie-cutter gym. I now attend at least three times a week and am noticing improvements, and feeling the burn. Marsha always seems to be on hand to guide and help. She is fit and trim and a great example of what can be achieved. She leads individuals and groups in various fitness programs. She set me up with equipment to better my glutes, core, abs, pectorals and more. The place has never been so clean as it has been since their takeover. I am totally impressed with their love of the gym. Wyatt, her in shape husband, is fit and keeps the machines in good working order. They obviously live the life of health and fitness. Remember, "We don't stop playing because we get old. We get old because we stop playing," George Bernard Shaw. I am 66.

Weight room is bigger than some, with 3 racks plus Smith, a cable machine, leg presses, etc. Only thing I didnt see was an EZ curl bar, but no big deal. They also have bumper plates and rubberized mats on the floor for deadlifts. (They also have lots of sign threatening charges for "dropping weights," not re-racking your weights, or "leaning weights against the wall.") So be warned, I suppose. I haven't had much interaction with staff here, but from what I can recall, they've been friendly. It's not the shiniest or prettiest AF I've been to, but it's got it where it counts. They've also got a vending machine with drinks. Would definitely come back.

I tried hitting up some other gyms but when I made it clear I wasn't interested in joining a cult or taking out a second mortgage on my house they quickly lost interest in me. The manager here was super friendly and willing to take the time to speak to me without undue pressure. The free weights and cardio machines were adequate for my use but the place is probably geared more for the casual user than the gym rats who want to grunt, groan and slam weights around like Neanderthals. So if you don't need a river of testosterone flowing around you but rather a pleasant place to work out without being judged by how many tires you can flip over than this is the place for you.
