Having to repost because photos would not post in the edit. Business owner claims we ate the whole thing and left. Nope, sorry, we did not. Need proof, adding photos of the sandwiches we took home. Should have just left them, but I guess being called a liar by the owner, it's a good thing we have proof we did in fact NOT eat every bite. As for asking us to cut a piece, yes, we were asked to cut a piece because the kitchen wouldn't believe us. Even told us the cook is new and it was his first day on the fryer. Maybe instead of arguing on Yelp, try apologizing and being honest. I support a ton of mom and pop, but not going to support this one. What a horrible place. Ordered 2 Monte cristo sandwiches, BOTH came out cold in the center and cheese not melted. Waitress asked us to cut a small piece off to show the kitchen staff, instead of just taking the plates back. Instead of offering to remake them, they offered to heat them up. No apology, no offer to make it right, just do we want them heated up. Declined the offer, paid and left. Will not be returning, and strongly suggest other pass on this place too. We needed a place to eat after the news at the pain clinic so headed here, Shana had never been and I hadn't been in years and years. The staff was friendly, it wasn't very crowded when we came but it did take some time to have someone sit us, the woman as the podium said the person would be along and would set us. Not sure why she couldn't but we waited a bit and got seated. Shana had French Toast and sausage patties. I had a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Shana enjoyed hers and loved the patties. My burger was good, not the best and the fries were ok. We tried the chicken fried bacon just to do it, not that great. Just didn't work together as well as we hoped. I got a margarita and they brough a bloody mary but otherwise the service was friendly and fast. The food was good overall and the prices were not too bad. We used to come here all the time. Specifically for the chicken friend bacon and we thought the breakfast potatoes were great. Well not anymore. The chicken fried bacon went from this light, crispy, delicious bacon to this heavily breaded, undercooked crap. Whoever decided to change that recipe has failed miserably. Not to mention th what used to be a full order of 4 long crispy pieces, is now 8 massive and thick pieces where you're eating 90% breading that doesn't even taste like bacon. The breakfast potatoes used to be crispy and now it's like a cold potato salad. Scrambled eggs used to be light and fluffy, now they are full of burn eggs(brown chunks). Sadly we won't be back. It's nice that owners take pride in their business. The also need to be happy that they have the business from their diners. Only need to learn better scheduling, especially on the weekends. Wait timescale get out of hand really fast and as far as carry out orders and delivery orders being a problem on the weekends, thats not good business. Every day should be no different from the other. Customers are no different, dine in, carry out or delivery. I'm only leaving 1 star because of the service that the hostess and the general manager gave, but the waiter was polite and attentive. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience on Easter morning needs to be addressed. I've been to 1431 Cafe before and have had pleasant service, which is why I brought my family there for their first visit. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had, and it started the moment we checked in. My brother went inside first to put our name down for a party of 6 and was told the wait would be about 30-45 minutes. We waited outside. About 20 minutes later, I went inside to check on the status of our table, and the hostess, Alison, immediately cut me off and yelled, "I CAN'T HEAR YOU, YOU NEED TO SPEAK UP!" After I repeated myself, she responded in a very rude and condescending tone saying, "I'VE BEEN CALLING THAT NAME FOR THE PAST 10 MINUTES. I WENT OUT TO CALL THE NAME AND YOU DIDN'T COME." I apologized and simply told her we still wanted to wait for the next available table. I also told her there was no reason to speak to me so disrespectfully. Instead of de-escalating, she became even more sarcastic and dismissive, repeating herself and then walking away while I was still trying to speak. Later, she told us she would get us a table. We then watched her continue calling other parties and addressing other guests. When it was finally our turn, she mumbled "party of six," made eye contact with me, and walked away quickly. My husband had to follow behind her asking what name she had called because we genuinely couldn't hear her, and she continued ignoring him all the way to the table. At that point, I asked who the manager was because her behavior was completely unacceptable. Alison responded, "IT'S BRANDI THE GM AND YOU CAN TELL HER ALL YOU WANT ABOUT ME, I DON'T CARE," while snapping her fingers at me. What made this even worse was that the general manager, Brandi, did not handle the situation appropriately. The table next to us had also noticed Alison being rude to multiple customers and went to speak with management as well. My husband also spoke to Brandi, and her response was essentially, "Yeah, but it's Easter, so you have to understand that it's busy." Being busy is not an excuse for disrespecting customers. I fully understand holidays are hectic and restaurants get overwhelmed, but the hostess is the first impression customers get when they walk in. There is absolutely no reason for someone in that position to be rude, dismissive, and openly hostile to guests. Even more concerning, management appeared to excuse and enable that behavior instead of addressing it. Because of Alison's attitude and the way management handled the situation, this experience completely ruined what was supposed to be a nice Easter breakfast with my family and didn't want to eat, it ruined my appetite. I have enjoyed both of my breakfast experiences from this restaurant. First, I ordered biscuits and sausage gravy to go. They really hit the spot. The biscuits were a good size and the gravy had nice sized sausage, not puny little pieces. I found two biscuits to be a very filling meal. Next, I tried dining in. I had a very helpful server, who gave great descriptions of the different French toast offered and the different fried potatoes. She helped me make an informed decision. The Creme Brulee French toast was sweet and reminiscent of the dessert, but unfortunately I found it not to be my taste. That said, it was exactly what it was described to be, so there's no complaint there; it simply didn't suit me. The southern fried potatoes were terrific. I loved the round shape and the tender centers. I look forward to returning to try other dishes! read more

I wouldn't even give a 1 star if I could give zero I would. Took my mother for the first time here for brunch and we ordered a breakfast meal and Crossaint meal. The eggs were horrible on both but her eggs were suppose to be over medium and the white was super runny so we sent them back to the kitchen and the cook came out with a attitude and purposely cooked them so hard they couldn't be eaten. I asked for the manager and Brandy came over and she had such a attitude to start with she was awful and should not be in any manager or customer service position, she was very rude and hostile stating that we had wasted eggs 3 times and we told her that we didn't ask for them to do that just wanted them to cook the white's like 30 seconds more. She didn't respond just snapped up our unfinished brunch, didn't ask if we were done and said have a good day ladies in the most hostile snippy attitude. We asked our lovely server Morgan (the only person we encountered that was so nice and helpful throughout the entire meal)if she can have Brandy remove the cost of the eggs since my mom couldn't eat them and she came and apologized and said Brandy refused, she refused to take anything off our bill. End up working out for us as we discovered a breakfast place down the street across from 1890 Ranch and we ate there and they were so friendly and the food was superior. We haven't been to this restaurant for a while but were close enough this morning to give it a try and we are glad we did. To be cheerfully greeted by a sweet young lady, seated quickly and have a very pleasant server arrive immediately gets us off to a good start. The menu has lots to offer even to my narrow breakfast likes but I am a sucker for eggs with biscuits and gravy. My wife ordered "Pigs in a blanket" and it was more like "Pigs in a quilt". They're huge. Being a good husband, I did give her some assistance in finishing her plate after I had completely devoured mine. The place is whistle clean and they use the "Team method" of serving which means that your food is delivered as soon as it's ready. God job people. We will be back. read more

The ambiance wasn't anything special when compared to other restaurants in the same arena. Came here for the second time and this time I brought a friend and we both had a great experience. We were a little nervous that we were going to have to wait awhile to be seated since it was busy and a Sunday morning but they got us a table within 10 minutes which I thought was super impressive. The food here is great! Perfect diner southern style breakfast and the servers are awesome. They recently changed their potatoes though and I honestly thought these new ones were pretty bad. Apparently the old ones were frozen and they want everything here to be homemade but I really hope they figure out their new potatoes :) Overall I love this place and would love for more people to try it! read more

The table service really saved this place. We went on a Friday morning around 1130. Walk in and are immediately greeted by this very grumpy lady who seemed very bothered that we were a party of 7... I mean when the number 7 came out of my mouth, her entire demeanor changed from Chipper Mary Poppins, to Dark Ursula! But my parents have such a hard time getting in and out of places and their truck so I figured we were already in, may as well suck it up... It was as if I had just told her she was working for free or something... but I digress. Sat at a corner round booth. Look at the menu and a ray of sunshine pops on over. He was the friendliest guy we had met all week. Promptly took our drink orders, went over items on the menu, and ran off to make our drinks while we stewed over the elaborate menu choices. I decided to change my breakfast choice up for once and went with the chicken fried steak breakfast. I was not at all disappointed. I added a side of grits and the whole meal was delicious!! The pancakes my granddaughter got were big as the plate. The service was spectacular throughout the entire meal. The place was cram packed and he never missed a beat with any of his tables. We were super hungry and super happy. Will definitely head back when in the area again next month. Sadly, I just couldn't let the grumpy gate keeper slide. -1* for her shenanigans. What has happened to this amazing place for breakfast, just had my worst experience here, There was only 5 tables occupied when we arrived and it took 25 minutes for our food to be delivered and my ham was half of what it should be, has brown burnt and cold when they came out. The waiter checked on us once the food was delivered and he never asked why I didn't touch my food. Only after we paid he asked how it was, explained to him and still no refund. I recommend if they keep poor service and pour quality hot food, save your money. The reason I couldn't tell a manger is because they don't walk around and multiple times I set my plate on the edge of the table out of dissatisfaction, my wife would make me pull it back, if a manger did walk by and see my full plate untouched, THEY should check on the client. I got a toasted croissant with a very small smear of mayo with 2 slices of turkey that were very cold with 5 pieces of white lettuce. No bacon. My server waisted no time bringing my bacon, but the manager told me the lettuce was iceberg and that's how they're served and I was going to have to pay for what I ordered. My previous encounters with managers have been cordial, but this lady was rude and didn't offer to make it right. My server on the other hand brought some mayo and green lettuce, and by then the turkey was closer to room temp. His explanation as to what happened is completely inaccurate which shows the lack of ethical values. As you can tell based on all the other negative reviews, the customer service has gone downhill. It's amazing that this mom n pop is still in business. Earl prefers to spread lies in order to try to save face of his failing customer service. And to say, I didn't even get my food they never intended on making my order, but refused to acknowledge if they would be giving me a refund. If I could rate the experience at 1431 a half Star I would. My wife and I were seated at a tiny table while other parties of two people were seated at four top tables allowing them sufficient room to spread out. We waited over 35 minutes for our food and when it finally did come, the staff had to reminded about half of our order. Scrambled light eggs that we ordered were scrambled hard. Bacon was overcooked. The stuffed waffle was undercooked and doughy. The French toast was hard and chewy like it spent way too much time under a heat lamp. Even the coffee tasted burnt. The Server "Lisa" made no attempt to ensure quality or satisfaction and did not even ask about our experience when providing the check. I have had better breakfast experiences in Army chow halls. Sunday afternoon we had plans for a Halloween trivia train ride. My friends recommended this place for lunch beforehand since it's close to the train station. I immediately said yes because I love a classic diner! 1431 Cafe was exactly what I hoped it would be. The wait for a table at Sunday around noon wasn't too bad, and fortunately there were a few chairs and benches for waiting outside. I wanted to try everything on the menu, but settled on the Club Sandwich and Broccoli Cheese Casserole. Delicious! Although I was disappointed the broccoli had rice in it. My husband couldn't eat his hash browns, so I tried those too, and they were better than expected. The omelettes were hits. My friend thought his pork chop was underwhelming. The portions were nice and the plates were tasty. Sadly the current hostess turned the experience into a hostile environment. We came in at 2 PM to a mostly empty restaurant, and asked for a booth. She turned around, looked at 3 empty booths, and THEN told us that booths are for parties of 3 or more. Ok, weird. Once we were sat, the waitress was short and nasty with us after an already rude encounter. What the heck? This place used to have the southern comfort hospitality quality but it's very clear the hostess is focused on exerting her control and filling out the tables to what she thinks they should be. Looks like she thinks money first, customer second. No wonder they were trying to hire hostesses. We haven't been back since, and that's a shame. read more

I definitely told the server and I did not eat all the food I ate maybe half and there was two pieces of sausage and I ate two bites of one of them. It was not a lot of food and I was hungry so I ate around the edges that was cooked. We went to 1431 Cafe again this morning and another wonderful experience. I ordered the porkchops once again. Everything was delicious right down to the gravy on the side. Our server was excellent and brought us our food quickly, so I would say that was a team effort. The place is not fancy, it just has good food and good service at a reasonable price. read more

The saving grace is the staff. They're attentive, nice, and quick, so none of this falls on them. The food is... really not great. Everything cooked right is pretty much without any flavor. No seasoning. Heavy grease. The waffle was not only undercooked, but sour - we're completely sure the batter turned. Now, the staff was amazing about it, picked up on the fact that the waffle was awful (without me saying so), and took it away - but they also didn't really evince any surprise that it was inedible. Enjoying another great meal at 1431 Cafe located at The Rail Yard in Cedar Park, TX. The service is always exceptional. They are friendly and attentive. Coffee is hot and has a good flavor. This is my husband's and my go-to spot on Sundays for breakfast or an early lunch. We've been trying to find "our place" for the past year, and we finally found it at 1431 Cafe. Our first visit was with Dakota as our server, and he was awesome--so much so that we requested him every time after. A couple visits ago they were really busy, so we sat at the bar, and now that's officially our spot. I can't say enough good things about this place. Why on earth do people come to this restaurant? Seriously. This is some of the poorest service and mediocre food ive experienced on my 48 years on this planet. Ordered a coffee. Mug is covered in food. No spoon. Get new coffee. Food comes. Gave me toast- no butter, no jelly. Sausage is so overcooked that my 13 year old daughter was laughing because we were banging it on the plate and i couldnt get my fork to penetrate it. My daughters eggs benedict- the benedict sauce was completely broken and pools of oil were floating on top. They also dont use real english muffins. Its the cheap weird things that are more like a hamburger bun. $50 breakfast and it was awful. Why people come here, i have no idea. Update- according to the owners response, you would think the manager was not informed, however, that assumption would be wrong. Which doesnt surprise me, considering her response to other negative reviews. This place has great pie. Thats it.
