We had water/flood damage in our kitchen and 123 handled the repair - they were quick and efficient at getting the water damaged walls and floor removed. The walls and floor were replaced after a day of drying. There were no mold issues, which was a relief. Everyone was friendly and kept us informed of the process. We didn't have time to shop for quotes, but feel we paid a fair price for what we needed done. read more

I contracted 123 Remodeling to remodel my 2 flat. I chose them because they had a high rating with BBB although their price was fairly high compared with the others. After a couple of weeks and a payment of $18,000, I noticed some defects. I then called the building inspector. The inspector's report was shocking. I was asked to terminate their contract immediately and contact an attorney. The work was illegal, they used the cheapest materials and the workmanship was very poor. I have since redone 80% of their work at a price of $10,000. I contacted BBB who tried to mediate between us but finally said that the business is not responding and I should contact an attorney or the Attorney General's Office. How they have a high rating with BBB is anybody's guess. read more

We had a very difficult experience with 123, unfortunately, but in the end the project WAS completed to our satisfaction. Alex was knowledgeable and professional, but his workers did not deliver on his promises. Our schedule was delayed to 3 weeks instead of 1; tile was installed in the wrong pattern (had to be ripped out); I discovered that waterproofing was not installed behind the tile on the shower walls (had to be ripped out); lights and mirrors were not installed centered on the sinks (had to be ripped out); and finally, our downstairs neighbor's apartment received water damage thanks to a toilet that was not installed properly (had to be ripped out). These are only the highlights, but it was a very disappointing experience for us. I will point out that Alex diligently made sure that every item was fixed to our satisfaction, and the price was fair, but the heartache was not worth any of it. read more

123 Remodeling just completed their second project for me at my condo and I think that mentioning their work is warranted. This was a MAJOR kitchen remodel and the team was great. Ariel has been incredibly responsive and fun to work with. I first and foremost REALLY appreciated the quote process, it came in almost immediately and was fully itemized, both with our must-haves and a few wishlist items. We even took a tour of some crazy huge granite facilities together before agreeing on a final total. As I was shopping around for quotes, I was kind of astonished by how many crazy people are out there doing remodeling.The contracting world: a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. But on the other hand, if you go for the bigger names, you end up paying for a "front desk" cost -- and I didn't need to spend an extra grand to have a smiling secretary answer the phone every time I freaked out about something minor. I'm going to be honest, I thought the makeover would be like HGTV but now that it's all over and done, I feel like I have insight into the real world. Yes, you have to deal with estimates on the front end and actual costs on the back-end. That's how this world works. The last month, I think I changed my mind on paint color three different times. THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. Sharone/ariel and the team were very understanding. They didn't make me feel bad, were very professional, and focused on completing the work with NO DRAMA! No life stories, easy to get in touch with, in and out. They also handled updating my condo association on our progress, which I didn't originally realize was required. I got my bathroom remodeled about a month ago, and 123 Remodeling was referred to us by family friends. I contacted them and another company for a quote and both were pretty comparable. Because 123 was referred by a friend and they actually followed up with me post-quote, we decided to go with them. Overall, I would say that they did a pretty good job. I have a fairly small bathroom and redid everything - new floors, tub, tiles, vanity, toilet, and mirror. I also really liked working with Ariel, who responds to emails and calls very quickly and actually listened to our instructions and concerns. They also did everything at the cost that was stated and on time (the whole project took about 2-3 weeks). Ariel was also helpful in making some suggestions about the remodeling. More importantly, he took us around to make purchases and his team picked up the orders when they came in. It saved so much time. However, this project was not without a few hiccups. First, the actual guys who did the work were really detailed and good in a few areas but not in others. For example, the floor was done really well but the bathtub tiles were not. We had to get the guy to redo the corner grout and caulk 3 times and it still didn't end up looking that great. Not sure if I picked some tiles that made it difficult to get the caulk to be smooth or if it was the skill of the person. But the guy was really patient with us and never complained. Also, I was gone for a week, and when I came back on a Friday night, the toilet was not installed and they left the air conditioning on. Ariel also went on vacation in the middle of the project, and we had to communicate with Sharone, who can be a little pushy and condescending. You definitely want to make sure you work with Ariel. Of course, this is my first time remodeling a bathroom and I have no comparison with other bathroom contractors, so some of these minor things could really be nothing compared to what others have experienced. The company has no idea what they are doing. They do't do the work themselves they hire sub-contractors to do the jobs. The quality of work is very poor. I am surprised that they have any good reviewes anywhere. I would not recomend this company to anyone. read more

123Remodeling did a complete gut rehab (demolition, removal of a wall, removal of popcorn ceilings, hardwood floors, new kitchen and bathrooms, painting, new doors, window shades, new appliances including an in-unit washer and dryer where there had been none before) of my high-rise condo. I could not be more pleased with the whole experience, from estimate to completion. My project manager, Ariel Damoni, was sensitive to all of my wishes and recommended ways to save money and also ways to enhance the design. Nothing I wanted was too difficult. So in reading these reviews, I think there is primary component I want to communicate here. If you are looking for great customer service (exceeding expectations in my experience), and high quality work being done on your place within or before a projected deadline, 123 remodeling is the company to go with and here are a few examples of why. After moving forward with 123, a project manager Ariel picked me up and helped me shop for both of my bathroom remodels, providing helpful advice based on his experience but still totally respecting my personal style. We found everything I needed within a couple hours and he was also able to get my an amazing discount on everything purchased. He then picked me up a second time to help me find tiles for my bathroom backsplash which was still unfinished from my previous nightmare remodeling experience even though 123 wasn't even contracted to work on my kitchen so this was extremely nice of him and definitely not in the contract. Aside from the project management, the actual worker bee was amazing. He showed up every single day out of about 30 work days except one 1 (because of car trouble) and worked straight from 8 to 4 (the hours my building allows you to work) barely breaking for lunch. When he did break though, he hung out with our Dog and was always very nice and loving to him which we appreciated :). His work was impeccable. There were a few things we added on at the end or asked to be changed that 123 did without adding any costs or giving us any grief. Yes, the project cost was expensive BUT I got quotes from 2 other companies that came in right at the same price or higher so 123 is definitely comparable to any other remodeling company that provides professional, high quality service and work. If your priority is having a positive, stress free remodeling experience, where you need some advice and help picking out material, go with 123. You will not regret it. I spent 9 months in a horrible kitchen remodeling nightmare because I tried to go with someone who could not be held accountable for failing to deliver on what we had discussed and I ended up spending twice as much in the end and having to wait 9 months for my kitchen to be finished. We wanted to update our small master condo bathroom, but didn't want to hire a full design company. 123 was able to just complete the labor at a very reasonable price. Although they didn't charge for design services, the PM still offered to go shopping with us for hardware and fixtures and did offer helpful design advice. 123's daily workers were very respectful and cleaned up accordingly each day. 123 also did a great job coordinating and complying with our condo association's rules and regulations. We had a great experience working with 123 Remodeling. Our PM was Amit Weinberg, and he really was the key piece in making our experience what it was. Amit did an excellent job of shepherding the process from initial bid to completion of the project. Not only is he great at making sure the project stays on course (and as close to budget as one can realistically hope for) but is also exceptional with his people skills. Amit was able to work with the contractors to make sure our vision was executed, even if it meant having some things redone, as well as working with our neighbors in the building to make sure they remained happy. Honestly, you can find a lot of PMs out there that can handle the tasks associated with a project, but it is rare to find one with such great people skills as well. The contractors that did the work were pleasant, timely, and clean. They did a good job of setting the place up with protection from dust, dents, and scuffs, and continued to keep the house clean during the project. Our project was a full tear down do the studs and reconfiguration of the master bath, and a full renovation (tile, tub, vanity, etc.) of the guest bath. In the end, both bathrooms were completed within a time frame that was reasonable and we didn't encounter too many unexpected costs that we hadn't planned for. My wife and I literally are still in awe every time we come home to our bathroom because they look like something you'd see in a magazine or on Houzz. We highly recommend anyone doing a bathroom renovation in the Chicago area give 123 Remodeling a call - AND ASK TO WORK W/ AMIT! read more

I really wasn't sure if I would ever write a review for these guys, but I just got off the phone with the contractor that is currently fixing the mess 123 Remodeling made and I'm learning after only 2 years I'll be redoing my entire bathroom AGAIN for north of $9,000 thanks to the mistakes and poor job done by 123 Remodeling. They remodeled my condo which included my bathroom, which, after only 2 years, my shower managed to leak through several layers of my shower floor, lining, and tile, into and under my hardwood, through the wall and into my bedroom. Before I hired a different contractor, I called 123 to come out and take a look to see why this would be happening. The first response was to remind me that it is not under warranty anymore so if they fixed it he would have to charge me and the second response was to tell me it was OUR fault for not grouting every crack and crevice every 6-12 months. You would think that after a shower I paid them a lot of money to build starts leaking into my bedroom, they would be a little more helpful and willing to fix it, and I wasn't even expecting it done for free, but to be immediately told I had to pay for it and to be told it was my fault was unbelievable. The new contractor is now ripping the bathroom apart, finding holes in the lining underneath the shower, finding more damaged hardwood flooring, etc., the list goes on. 123 also took about twice as long as expected to finish my initial remodel, but that's a story for another day. I'm not happy about shelling out several thousand more to fix this, but I'm very happy I hired someone else to do it. read more

I called 123 Remodeling for a bathroom renovations project. They came out and with in a week I called them back and signed a contract. The project took 3 weeks to complete, a little longer than expected because my building only allows 8 hours a day of work to contractors and I ordered a custom shower and glass door that took some time to arrive. The bathroom looks great and 123 Remodeling did everything that I asked them to. I've had a problem with a contractor before, have heard many horror stories and always thought that dealing with a contractor was like going to war. I was pleasantly surprised and thought it was worth mentioning. I thing that in general going with a reliable contractor regardless of price is the way to go. When I did work on my house in Minnesota I went with the cheapest quote thinking that if the contractor doesn't do the job right he wont get paid. I wound up having to through out my contractor (Greystone Kitchen and Bath). I paid more money at the end and probably shaved 2 years off my life due to the stress. read more

We used 123 remodeling to do a complete gut and remodel of our master bath. The work involved was very extensive including gutting the entire room down to the studs and floor joists, moving the toilet from one side of the room to the other, removing an old cast iron tub and replacing it with a shower, installing all new fixtures, flooring with radiant heat, insulation, new tile, shower glass, additional sink plumbing for a double vanity, new circuits for updated electrical. The price they quoted for the labor was reasonable as well as the timeline for the project. We also recently had a baby and the workers were absolutely accommodating to try to make the project as fast, clean, and quiet as possible. On top of all that they did outstanding work. As I observed the progress throughout the project I was amazed at how precise and thorough they were, not taking any shortcuts, and doing it the right way while listening to my requests and making suggestions when needed. We now have a fully updated bath that I know will provide my family many years of service. Could not recommend them enough! read more

We had 123 remodeling re-do our master bathroom. The project was a complete bathroom renovation, with demolition of 2 walls to enlarge the space, setting the sink and tub and shower in new places, etc. Lots of demolition, rebuilding, installation of all the new equipment, then some fine tuning. To us, this was a big project (in the $20,000 range) and projects this big in your own house are always stressful. But overall they did a good job. The cost was as promised, with no surprises, and it covered everything as promised in the contract. As said in another comment (Katie P), there were some minor hiccups but Ariel was very accessible and reassuring along the way. The workers were pretty good, on time and pretty clean. We are in a big coop and some neighbors complained of the dust dirt during the early demolition part. After that, things settled down and the work moved forward at a good speed. The final result was what we wanted, and even the final touches were done according to our wishes. read more

I called 123 Remodeling after speaking to a few other contractors about a bathroom in an old house (1896) that needed to be gutted and completely redone. Their quote was the most reasonable for what we wanted to do. I explained to Ariel what we wanted to do and what we were told we HAD to do for the results we wanted. Ariel took the time to explain why some of those upgrades would "be nice", but not necessary to do the job. He took time to go "shopping" with us for all the tile, vanities, fixtures, etc. He even helped us negotiate prices lower than expected with some of the vendors. His experience with doing similiar projects also helped steer us away from a few mistakes that we would have made if we went with our original plan. I hired them for the job and I have nothing but positive things to say about this crew. They were respectful, on time, clean, and helpful. As we saw the project come together, we decided we liked their work enough to ask them to start on the other bathroom downstairs. Im not sure which one I like better....they both turned out great. I feel like Ariel held true to what I was told when we sat down at the kitchen table that first day to figure out what it would cost, how long it would take, and how the process would work.
