This is a cute place with good beer and fun pub grub. We came here on a Friday and were treated like family by our server, Jess. We liked the Fenrir and the Pilsner, and started with a bowl of very hearty Beer Cheese soup. Next, we tried the Jammin to the End Flatbread, which was delicious. I personally would have liked to taste more of those flavors along with the pastrami, or even another meat flavor like salami or something would pair well with it. I could probably combine all of the meat from all 3 tacos onto just 1 taco and then it would be like a regular amount of fullness. I did not end up getting the fire roasted salsa or the chopped onion.. not sure why. And of course extra cilantro lime crema to add the necessary wetness to balance the taco out. We stopped here on a Sunday afternoon. This place is a little hard to find as it's not really visible from the road. I had a pint of the chocolate porter and I enjoyed it very much. I also ordered a chicken bacon sandwich which was a special for the day. It came with a bag of chips which is not my favorite when out to eat but the sandwich was good. This is my local. Tucked into the corner of an industrial park, this is a hidden gem. They are amazing. They offer typical bar food (you won't get any 7-course meals here) that is extremely tasty and well prepared. The staff is friendly and they may even know your name by the second time you walk through the door. I've been amazed at how well they remember everyone. They go out of their way to ensure you feel like you are at home. They offer many varieties of beer including IPAs, Sours and sometimes a Cider. If you're not the beer drinker, but like hanging with your beer drinking buddies, they also offer cocktails. What's not to love? Tell them Margarette says "Hi". read more

I don't know why I don't come here more - probably because it's set back into an industrial park so I never think to come here! Despite their remote location, every time I come here it is PACKED with people. I even said to my friend when we pulled up "I'm surprised they're still in this location after all these years" but it seems to be working for them! The staff is all so friendly. When we arrived we asked if they had any of the murder mystery boxes still on hand that they had 2 summers ago as featured events. The owner went on a wild goose hunt looking for them for us but unfortunately couldn't find them. We really appreciated their efforts though. The beer itself is fantastic. I haven't gotten a beer I disliked here. The sours are a true highlight here. Im grateful to know 12 Gates is a reliable source for sours whenever I'm having a craving. They have some of my favorite sours in the city. The outside patio has turned into such an awesome area to relax and have some beers. The prices are great too (cheaper than some other breweries in the area). The food is always delicious as well but we didn't eat this time around. The only downsides here are the plane traffic (it can get a bit loud when you're trying to converse) and the bees! We always have issues with bees here. Thankfully they are good about replacing our beers that the bees fly into. read more

This was an unexpected and spontaneous visit. While in the area, we noticed the brewery sign and decided to see what they offer. At first, we wanted to sit outside but being pleasantly surprised at how cozy and welcoming the 12 Gates bar was, we changed our minds. The round table in the corner was perfect for the two of us. I noticed there was a rather mature/older crowd and the place was quite busy. I don't go to bars often. Plus, I'm far from being a beer fanatic. Usually, choosing a craft beer can be painful for me. Without having much time, we grabbed a Coffee Porter, a Red Lion and Bavarian Pretzels. Overall, I really liked this place. Unfortunately, when it started to rain, the area quickly filled with people from the outside. We didn't plan to stay long. I just wanted to enjoy my company while sipping a beer, relaxing and having a bite to eat. Forget about it! Our server was at our table at least six times in total. I felt rushed. It made no sense to me. Did she want me to chug the beer, pay and leave? Wait, what's about pretzels?! At least they were warm, soft and comforting. The outside patio wasn't in order at the time. I just checked their Facebook page and it looks like everything is ready for the season right now. 12 Gates is one of my favorite bars to go to. I love the atmosphere, the aesthetic, the music (hell yeah to classic rock!), and, of course, their beer! I've been here too many times to count and always partake in a beer (or two) but I'd not ventured into their food menu. Now, I really should've tried the food BEFORE the Coronavirus hit, but even if I had, I don't think my thoughts would've been much different. On a Wednesday night, I met a few family members here for a few drinks and dinner. I ended up ordering a beer, their new fruited sour - the Flo-Mingo, and their Cuban Sandwich from their "Re-Opening Food Menu". The sandwich itself was pretty good! I liked the ham and the pulled pork as it added a little "heft". The Swiss cheese was nice and there was plenty of mustard and pickles in each bite. The sourdough was perfectly toasted and added a slight crunch. I wish this came with French fries instead of a bag of Lay's but that's alright. If we had met for lunch and I ordered this, it would be awesome, but as a dinner, it's a little on the "light" side in terms of portions. But, that's not to say the sandwich, chips, and a beer were not filling! Also, the price for the sandwich was very fair! 12 Gates is a great local craft brewery and I have a great experience each time I come. I'm glad I tried the food finally, but I think I'll just stick with their beer (twist my arm... haha). As of 07/2020 though, if you're looking for a light, fruity, refreshing beer, then do yourself a favor and grab a Flo-Mingo off their draft menu! read more

I've been going to 12 Gates since they opened and decided it was time to finally write a review. First, my favorite beer is still the first one I tasted there, the West Coast IPA. I've tried many others that I liked but still go back to that. They have live music quite often along with other special events. I love their annual all day Rock the Gate party. Favorite food is the Reuben flat bread pizza. Really good! As mentioned by others, it can be had to find because they're in the back of an industrial park but once you find it you'll be back! Awesome place in the middle of nowhere... No really, took us forever to find this place the first time. Now they have a bright sign out front but even then, it's easy to get lost. There is alot of parking available if you are prepared to walk. The bar is large and there are many tables to sit at. They have quite a bit of beers on tap! We were there for a party and the food wasn't great but I would like to try a sit down meal in the future. 12Gates had a restaurant week 2019 special: 1 beer from tap, a sandwich and a six pack of some of their beer to take home for $20.19. A pretty good deal. I started with a Wind Forge IPA. A nice hazy IPA, 6.3% ABV, with a hint of grapefruit taste. I ordered the The O'Malley sandwich (Corned Beef, Swiss Cheese, 1000 Island, Red Onion on grilled Rye). Coffee Porter is amazing! I suggest everyone try it. Since leaving Madison, Wisconsin, I have tried to find a brewery that matches the craftsmanship of good craft microbrew like Ale Asylum and I think I have found it here in Williamsville. I came in for local restaurant week and found it a little tricky to find the place, but look for the tent in the back of all the industrial park suites. They are number 16 &20 in the back corner. I tried the Reuben and Todd flat breads. They come with 10 pieces, so come hungry or share! The Reuben was my favorite- just like a good Irish sandwich but on flatbread. The flat bread was a little soggy from the thousand island dressing, but the kraut and corned beef were perfect on this. The Todd is a meat lover's dream (or a vegetarian's nightmare) with lots of meat piled high. I can only complain that the red sauce they use is flavorless. It reminded me of Ragu or Prego original meatless spaghetti sauce. They could have added a little oregano or even basil to spice it up, but I was happy with the quality and quantity of meats and the quickness of them coming out, even as busy as they were. I will have to come back to try some of the other ones as I still had two others I was trying to decide between. And of course, to come back for more of their delicious beer!!! read more

I want to give this place a 3.5, because it's not just a 3, but it's certainly not in the 4 ballpark. Finding this place is a quest in itself. It's tucked in the back of what looks to be an industrial/ office park. Beer was pretty average. They do have a little bit of everything. Cuban sandwiches are my kryptonite so, naturally when I found it on the menu, I ordered one. Something about the mustard was really throwing the sandwich off- I don't know if it was just the fact that there was WAYYY too much mustard, or if it was just the wrong kind of mustard, but something just wasn't quite right. This brewery is at 80 Earhart Drive in Williamsville in the back of a business development complex. Don't listen to your GPS. It'll bring you to the back of the brewery. Drive a bit further than you think you need to and then make a left. It'll be towards the end of that road. Twelve Gates has a 12 Gates of Christmas Craft Beer Challenge where if you buy the beer daily you'll get a pint glass and a tee shirt. I had a few friends over tonight and one of them wanted to try today's beer which was the Choco Raz Peanut Butter Pastry Stout. The beer was very dark and I love dark beer but I couldn't taste much of the flavors besides the chocolate. It wasn't bad and I'm glad I tried it. It was $16. They had some merchandise for sale too. I wanted to support the brewery so I bought a cute winter hat for $20. I'd like to return on Tuesday to try their Reese's Puffs Porter. I've been here two other times, pre-Covid. The beer isn't bad, some of it is pretty good. The coffee Porter is my favorite. When they had a band, it was way too loud in there. The acoustics are weird and my friend and I got stuck sitting at the bar basically right in front of the band unfortunately. The location is weird and inconvenient but their food is pretty good. I'd probably give this place a try, when they're allowed to open to the public again with food. I think currently, they're only selling beer and merchandise, not food. read more

I came here on Monday after work to grab some food and some beer. I love visiting breweries every time i travel because they're all so unique. I did see where there's some confusion finding this place but the signs help. It took and extra 25 seconds of my life. Service:5/5 The service was great, i sat at the bar and was served mainly by Tammy. She was really great and the other bartenders were great also. Food:3.5/5 The food is the only reason i gave this place a 4/5. I had the Korean tacos and they're take on a Hawaiian flatbread. The food was alright but i wouldn't come here for just the food. Seating:5/5 I was able to get a chair at the bar right away. It wasn't super packed when i got there but it did get busier towards the end of my stay, especially since it's restaurant week. Our local go-to spot for beer. The variety they have, and buzz that follows their beer is pretty great. Of course by them offering the military service members a 25% discount, ill happily visit and know that they really care. I'm not much of a beer drinker but I wanted to give 12 Gates a try and I have to say that I did enjoy the Elderberry Wheat. The prices are very reasonable so no complaints there. I had the flat bread pizza and although it wasn't the best, it was good and worth a try. I had trouble finding this place since it's oddly located in some kind of industrial park. I almost gave up but finally found it down a dark driveway. A big sign would bring in lots more people. On the other hand, maybe that's not such a good thing because it's not very big and although the bar is long there are not many tables. Seating can be difficult. The ambience of a place is a big deal to me and I didn't get a good vibe about this place. That and the dark alley cause me to only give it 3 stars read more

Stopped in for the first time on a Saturday around 5. There were probably about 10 other people there, which was enough to almost fill the bar but left all the tables empty. I split a flight of 5 beers with my boyfriend. The flights of 5 beers costs $8 or you can get a flight of 3 beers with 2 cheesecake shooters for $12. They had 7 of their own beers on tap plus one guest tap. We got the 4 beers that were not IPAs, plus their oak-aged IPA. Atmosphere: raised ceilings, modern, and clean feel. Brew tanks viewable from the right side of the bar. Big tables and a few games available so good for groups. Lots of parking too. The location is kinda tricky, it's tucked away from the road so we passed the first time. Would be nice to see a sign just for them right at he road. Fell in love with this place pretty quickly. I'm not much for alcohol, so I tend to end up being the DD among friends, but I always appreciate when I'm able to enjoy a bar/brewery otherwise. We came here because one of my friends performs in a music duo and they were singing here that night. Found out first-hand that yes, this place is a little difficult to find if you don't really know where to go. GPS isn't much of a help, and I ended up using yelp photos of the building along with a little bit of dumb luck/guessing to figure out which driveway to turn down in order to get there. (All I can suggest is, if you're using a map app, is to look at which building the pin is placed over, instead of taking map directions straightforward.) There seems to be a bit of a witchcrafty theme here, assuming that the '12 Gates' is a reference to the gates of hell; cool antique candles and lanterns decorate the tables, and my friends and I were mesmerized by the Alchemical Table of Symbols. It's not a smothering theme, very subtle, and I found it very easy to just relax here. Always a big plus with bars, they had a food menu. I took to it right away, and heard from friends who'd been here before that their pizzas were delicious. I ended up picking the polish sausage though, because I can't help myself. Very delicious. Came on a bun with sauerkraut and potato chips, and I'm not crazy about a lot of kraut but it was done so well here that I couldn't help but eat most of it.
