We like everything about this place. Very unique and beach vibe. I would give it a 5 star if they offered an alternative to pork for breakfast like turkey/chicken sausage/bacon. The waiter told us they only had turkey hamburger patty. No turkey breakfast sausage. read more

Darling little cafe in downtown Encinitas. Staff is friendly n helpful. Hand-drawn beach scenes on the walls, outdoor seating in the back. Tiny bathrooms. Prices are good, food is good. This is more of a 'locals' spot, so very few tourists, which I appreciate once in a while. Traditional American comfort food, great coffee. 4 stars because the food is good, but not impressive or unique. read more

This is my family's favorite breakfast spot! The staff are always friendly & efficient and the food is consistently excellent. Our favorite is the California omelet which contains all the awesome Mexican ingredients and the potatoes here are always cooked & seasoned to perfection. We are also big fans of the various pancake options, especially the chocolate chip & Hawaiian pancakes.....always a hit! Krista is usually our server & we look forward to seeing her, she's awesome. Be sure to check this place out, you won't be disappointed. read more

Cool little diner - go with the jalapeño and shaved ham Benedict - ridiculously good.

I've been wanting to try this place but I can never come early enough!! My friends rave about it though! So one day very soon I will see why it's so amazing ! read more

Just wanted to thank the staff who have been so awesome to the group of Cardiff/Encinitas boys that always eat there after surfing. My son feels at home there and says the food and people who work there are the best! read more

We loved this place so much, we went there twice on the same trip! We loved sitting outside - service was good. We split a patty melt & blueberry waffle - savory & sweet - both delicious! read more

The place was not busy, we entered and we were not greeted the server was too busy talking to her co worker. I had to ask if we could sit. Two blonde servers tended to tables and we were completely ignored. We sat there for 10 minutes and we saw two tables come after us and they got service right away... the two blonde servers completely ignored us . So we left. Also the table next to us complaint about the food. read more

5 stars because the service was great. Food hit the spot. If you like Benedict and Acai, do the 1/2 plate so that way you're not taking food home and risking your acai melting or reheating your Benedict egg. I got the garden Benedict and the mini acai bowl was awesome. The bowl came with Kiwi, mango, pineapple, blueberries, banana, coconut and granola of course and I was so satisfied! Can't wait to come back. read more

Been living in North County for 10+ years. Walked by this place multiple times, but did not ever go here until this past weekend. Wish I had stopped in a long time ago. Overall great place for casual breakfast. Nice menu with plenty of options. Cool decor. Great vibe. Friendly staff and excellent service. Worth checking out. I will go back again. read more

This place is both impressive and terrifying at the same time. It is a true diner--big portions of basic, decent chow served quick and easy, without any flash or fanciness. The locals obviously love it, and I saw many of them chatting up the waitresses and the owner/cook. They have several updated variations on old themes, so getting fresh veggies with your breakfast is easy to do. Why do I find the place terrifying? Having an open kitchen is fine if the view is nice. But given the pace of the orders and amount of food coming out, the grill was nasty to sit in front off. There's no time to clean during a rush, I know. But the sight of heavily caked-on package batter, eggs, potatoes and other food spatters is the farthest thing from appealing. I was very impressed at the speed they were working, and my breakfast was good. But the place needs a serious, deep cleaning. Next time I'll sit as far away from the counter as possible. And yeah, there will be a next time. read more

Upon the request of a small child who yearned for some sort of pancake with a face, I searched for a breakfast place that was NOT the dreaded (and often smelly) IHOP. We ended up at 101 diner. Our server was very friendly and kind. The kiddo greatly enjoyed his mickey mouse pancake. I, having a stupid disease that make it nearly impossible for me to eat at a breakfast place with gluten galore, opted for a cup of tea and grapefruit which was perfectly cut. We had a great time sitting on the patio, enjoying our breakfast, and spending a quality morning with each other. A perfect morning. read more

Eggs Benni and Acai are my 2 breakfast faves and i normally have a hard time choosing sweet over savory when it comes to breakfast, but at 101 Diner you can order a half order of both! O M G. FOOD: I got the half order of the Benedict special, carne asada with cilantro hollandaise, and half order of acai which is their "mini" size. both were awesome! I normally dont like thicker acai but because it was a warm morning on the coast and the fixings were awesome- hemp granola (love) and fresh blueberries/mango/kiwi/strawberries/banana. PRICE: the price was standard for a brunch joint, around $7-10 AMBIANCE: probably the only downside if you have a large party. pretty small and typical diner place. we had 7 of us and had to sit on the patio. good thing the rain stopped that morning and it ended up being pretty warm. SERVICE: We had Dylan, and she was great! very personable and knowledgeable. read more

Stopped by a coffee shop for substance only to laughed at by a local and told to come here. San Diegians are amazing and this place was all the hype is meant to be. Warning, though I didn't get the apple pancake, it is of outrageous proportions. 15 feet away and I could still tell it was too big for me or any human that is not of SHAQ sized. Standard dining fair, but fairly priced, very filling and satisfying. Be warned sitting in front of the grill on the bar seating can be a smelly yet intriguing experience. read more

I love diner food and always want to come here when we visit our friends in Encinitas. It's a cozy beachside diner, reminds me of the ones we like to go to in Long Beach or Redondo. I ordered the pineapple pancake with side of fried egg with bacon. It was a toss up between that and biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. I could had just had bacon. YUuummmm bacon! read more

Just visited on Good Friday. The diner is small but mighty. We arrived at 11:30 and were seated immediately inside, outside was packed. The menu is vast with lots of great egg and sandwich menu choices. We opted for lunch, but breakfast is served all day. I had the turkey club and my friend had the Rueben. Both sandwiches were excellent and the fries were great. However, after we'd been there for like 35 minutes they began to close up shop. Tables outside were brought inside and stacked up. All condiments from the tables were pulled. We were never rushed but in like 10 minutes we were the only customers. Strange. The web site said nothing about closing early for the holiday. No idea. The food was good, service was a bit sparse, but overall good. I'd go back and give breakfast a chance. read more

I had a tuna salad and side of fries for lunch. The serving size was huge! However, I can't say that the salad was particularly memorable. It did not leave much of an impression. This place is very reasonably priced, and I'd probably want to try to come here for breakfast sometime. It's also an ideal place for lunch during the workweek. Located in a nice area, fast service, and pretty cheap. read more

This is a smalll hole-in-the-wall diner found in a strip center right off Hwy 101. Small place though. We got a table outside the front of the store in 3 minutes. The German Apple pancake (more like a baked apple crisp pastry) was greatness. I think I liked it better than my Crab cake eggs benedict (they didn't have any of the Jalepeno choipotle hollandaise sadly) which was great. Would have given it 5 stars but it took forever to get our food, and the service was spotty at best. I'd try it again since the menu looked good and prices were reasonable. read more

101 Diner - Crabcake Eggs Benedict close and the awesome German Apple Pancake - Diners Near Me - Encinitas, California

The best eggs Benedict.! Loved it and great service ! The Hollandaise is the best I've ever had.

Probably my all time favorite breakfast spot. We come here basically weekly. If you're looking for ambiance and creative, outside the box dishes, go elsewhere. This spot is for those who appreciate quality, consistent and familiar dishes done right. No bells and whistles here. You can't you wrong with any of the benedicts. If you see the crab cake bene, don't pass it up! The Cardiff crack, carnitas and corned beef hash benes are super legit too. I usually opt for the jalapeño-cilantro hollandaise. Besides that, the omelettes are huge and flavorful and their acai bowls are delightful. BEST POTATOES EVER. Whatever you order, you must get a side of potatoes. Cooked to perfection every time. Love this place. read more

Went there today, Mother's Day. Line as expected was huge but once we were seated service was surprisingly fast! I mean food served within about 15 minutes! Sign of a well run place. Came here for early breakfast on a rainy Day. Our waitress was very friendly and knew the large menu really well. I have been eating gluten free by choice for a few years. I really wanted eggs Benedict but didn't want the bread. Our waitress suggested that the chef can put it over potatoes and with that I ordered the hash and Cardiff Crack Benedict. It came out so good she put it on the special of the day board. Thank you for accommodating and making great home cooked meal!! read more

Great breakfast and fast service. We had the açaí bowl, eggs Benedict, and the breakfast burrito with chorizo. We opted to sit outside for more space, and ended up being in direct sunlight, which made the meal hot and uncomfortable. What a gem! Just relocated to Encinitas and went here for breakfast !!! Ambiance: Rustic diner! Some outdoor eating. Busy place, so expect a wait and some traffic (but it's worth it!) Service: Our server was so nice. Welcomed us to the area as we were leaving. Food: OMG! I got the Ham Jalapeño Benedict. The flavor was great, poached eggs were perfect and the sauce...a good spice full of flavor. My husband went traditional with pancakes, eggs and bacon. So good. Pancakes were light, fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness. Bacon, perfectly crispy. Run out and get to this diner. You won't be disappointed! read more
