The I brought up weekly pay. Told my manager that bi-weekly pay is looked at as employers controlling our money because we aren't good with it. They did NOT like this. Less than an hour after suggesting weekly pay, I was fired. I hope my mop job on the floor leaves a taste in their mouths for years to come. I spent a good 10 hours on that lower bay mopping and cleaning up years of garbage. Avoid working here.

When we woke up last Saturday and the VW neglected to start we were more than bummed. Mr. and Mrs. B suggested we call Spring Valley Motors. We did, they were closed until Monday. Monday morning I called and Kirk was (as my brother says) right on time. I explained the problem and he agreed to call me back with a tow time. There was a little confusion that followed about the towing, which was completely my fault - for those of you who have never had your car towed for repairs, you need to leave the keys in the car and the tow company will pick the car up with the keys inside - but within a couple hours Kirk had our VW in his shop and had generously picked our key up on his way to get his lunch. By 1:00 pm Monday afternoon Team VP had a diagnosis: a new battery! The battery was $179, the tow was $65 and we paid $75 for a general look over. I looked up batteries for VW TDIs and the prices ranged from $100 to $200, so this coupled with the fact that Mr. MVP and I have no idea how to change a battery we think Spring Valley Motors gave us a very fair price. Kirk had our VW ready to be picked up by 2:45 pm on Monday afternoon. Mr. MVP took an Uber over and we are once again a one car family. For those of you wondering I asked and Kirk said his shop does all the regular maintenance that VWs require as well as repairs. They charge about $100 for TDI oil changes which is the going rate in Kalamazoo.

I know that they have have fit me in when they were already tightly scheduled, and I have never had a repair wherein something was left undone. I was nine years old back then and he was eight years old I think (that was way back in 1978). We were neighbors for over 15 years. I don't let anyone else work on my car except Lowder's because I know and trust the owner, Bob, and I know that he will ALWAYS do right by me. He hasn't ever tried to pull a fast one on me (or any of my family or friends) like other mechanics do; he does what's actually needed or what I've asked to be done (IF it's legal of course but NOT if it's something illegal like putting a muffler on a vehicle that doesn't have a catalytic converter on it (or other stuff like that), because that's quite illegal!). He does the right thing, he always has that I know of and I've never heard anyone taking bad about him, EVER --- not even in high school. He's just and simply a great and honest man; and you can trust him. Oh! He WON'T give you some triple the price estimate and try to rip you off either, he's not like that at all. I refer people to go to him at Lowder's Automotive every single time someone is talking about having vehicle problems or the need of a good honest mechanic. He runs the office and front counter now and doesn't get under the cars anymore because he has some great people working for him there. He WON'T put up with a dishonest mechanic working in his shop either. I fully know that he would give them the boot too if they ever tried something like that! They work on lots of types of vehicles there and they're certified & licensed. And you can see the legal certifications and licenses posted there if you'd like to. He is an awesome person to know too. Talk with him awhile if you're wanting to know more about him and his business, I'm sure that he will fill you in on anything that you will need to know. He's been working on cars since we were kids. Oh, and BTW, he is still about Mopar too. Js. I'm a Chevy man myself but I don't hold the fact that he's into Mopar against him. LoL!
