This would be six stars if it were possible. Just wow…read more By the slice so you don't wait long. Full 'za available. But for real, the slices of the day are so unique and all crazy good. Mine had crumbled BBQ chips on top! The crust was crispy yet chewy which is exactly what I look for. The slices are big enough to fold and the crust is stiff enough it doesn't flop at the golden corner. I dig the punk vibe. Don't sleep on their special sauce, it's better than ranch (I know, blasphemy in Oklahoma).

When it came to Mardi Gras, there would be a food truck that would sit in front (I wish I could remember who it was... if anyone remembers, please refresh my memory...) & have a special menu. I made it ritual not to miss out on the food during that time. It can get really active at Empire when it comes to soccer. I love seeing the crowds & who they root for. Recently, it was Netherlands vs Morocco & it was a really good game. People who rooted for the Netherlands were DEEP in their orange jerseys (Morocco ended up winning). Outside of the obvious choices when it comes to beer, they have a selection of local beer as well. There's a LED sign that sits to the right of the bar that has an extended list of other drinking options. To those who don't drink, Empire has Mood Bru on deck. I always enjoyed myself whenever I visited. Speaking of food, if there's not a food truck on site, there's plenty of food to choose from in the surrounding (local) businesses.

The door girl was rude and spoke to my group with an unnecessary attitude, seemingly just because we were younger. She questioned our valid IDs in a way that felt disrespectful and accusatory, which really set a negative tone before we even got inside. Once we made it in, we approached the front bar where a bartender--who I believe was named Michael based on what others were calling him--completely ignored our group. Instead of acknowledging us, he chose to carry on conversations with others and eventually left the bar altogether without saying a word. Thankfully, we decided to try the back bar, and that completely turned things around. The bartender in the back was wonderful--super attentive, friendly, and helped us pick the best drink options for our group. Her professionalism and great service are what made us decide to stay. However, one final issue stood out: after sitting in the back area for about 20 minutes, we saw the same front bartender, Michael, exit an employees-only room, and as he opened the door, a strong smell of smoke filled the air. It was unpleasant and surprising, especially since we thought Sharky's was a non-smoking establishment. Overall, the night had its ups and downs. Big shoutout to the back bar staff for turning our experience around, but the unprofessionalism at the front definitely left a bad impression.

From a recent visit on Valentine's Day due to a spot having their kitchen close early (my pops was performing across the street so when they were done, we came over here), I'm glad we ended up eating here. We came in, got greeted instantly & even got a table the moment after we got greeted. I find it wild that we usually get seated by the stairs in the middle, not in a bad way, I really like that table & we end up there a majority of the time when it's just us two. I wish I remembered our server's name, she did an excellent job. I went with the Whiskey Burger & it was incredible. The wait on the food didn't take long at all. The whiskey chipotle BBQ sauce stole the show. The burger was perfect. The sweet potato fries went well with the burger, I got honey mustard as my dipping sauce. I was so hungry that I ran through my whole plate in a snap of a finger. I enjoyed that night, no complaints whatsoever. Side Note: The Olympics were going on & Curling was on the television on my right. I actually looked up how the sport takes place & I learned something new that night (outside of the fact that Curling always intrigued me).

We opted for this Irish themed pub last night for dinner, and can't say enough about the service, food and atmosphere. McNellie's (sounds Irish, right?) is located on one of the seemingly lonely streets near downtown, and came highly recommended by our hotel barista. The ambiance is definitely Irish-pub--dark wood, old wooden floors and walls of exposed brick--definitely a cool sanctuary from the oppressive summer heat and humidity. And what better way to quench your thirst and beer curiosity than choosing from hundreds of beers both on tap and bottled. For the local beer enthusiasts there is a Centennial club which rewards frequent imbibers with gifts leading up to the coveted pottery mug! Our server, McKayla--was delightful. She definitely enjoyed serving us, and offered recommendations good service and conversation. The summer salad caught my wife's eye, and she enjoyed the fresh mix of roasted pistachios, cheese, watermelon and mango. I jumped at the fish and chips, which I can honesty was the best I've ever had--topping what we had years ago at an English pub by a mile. McNellie's fish portion was large, and the batter was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I was a little surprised with the small portion of chips (fries), as most establishments seem give you lot, but I guess I was thankful in a way. With some beer left in our glasses, we decided to order a plate of fries (white and sweet) for desert! If you like beer and good Irish comfort food, McNellie's is a sure bet!
