As good as it gets" My relatives brought me here for dinner when I visited Hong Kong from the US (haven't been back since 1997). This place is in a fishing village/area, we took the subway and got off at the Yau Tong station, after asking around we got to the seafood area...it was a lot of walking to get to this specific restaurant. This restaurant is at the END of all the other ones along the shore. As you twist and turn to get here, you will pass by a bunch of stores that sell fresh seafood and many will hassle you into eating at their adjacent restaurants. One thing I noticed about ALL the stores is that nothing smelled "fishy"! There was not a stench in the air! I've always heard that fresh seafood does not smell fishy. This is the first time I understood what they were talking about. When we finally got to the restaurant, my family decided on the dishes they wanted, I'm not sure if it was because they knew the owner or if this was something you can ask for because we were walked back out to their tanks to pick out the fish, lobster, clams, etc that we wanted. It was a totally awesome experience. The food was nothing short of AMAZING! I have never had seafood this great in my entire 35 years of life and I live 10 minutes from the ocean in California. Everything was cooked perfectly and dishes were not overly seasoned so the flavor of the seafood really comes out. The "peeing" shirmp was soooooooo good, it was better than any Maine lobster I've had. Yes I just compared a shrimp to a lobster, it was that good! If there's anything I would recommend, it would be that and the jack knife clams. Price is a little on the high end especially given the cheap food prices in Hong Kong, but I can't wait to visit again.

Steamed scallops with garlic and cellophane noodles - Scallop so fresh and mixed with garlic so tasty. Stir fried Jumbo mantis shrimp with garlic and chili - Mantis shrimp just a bit overcooked coz was a little bit chewy. But, I liked the smell with garlic and chili. Of the 6, everything was really good but the top 3 were phenomenal. The lobster noodles with cheese was my favorite. You can't find this in America and my friend specifically chose this restaurant for this dish. The cheese that they used went perfectly with the lobster and noodles. Almost made the noodles like a carbonara. I have never had razor clams before but it's just a long clam. The meat was soft and chewy. Who doesn't like fresh garlic and noodles? The sauce that was on the clam and noodles was delicious. Lastly the geoduck was used for sashimi and soup. The geoduck was sliced thinly and dipped with wasabi soy sauce. It was super fresh and you can't just stop at once piece. The soup that was prepared with the head had vegetables and tofu. It was rich and really sweet. The one thing I wanted to try in Asia was the mantis shrimp. They may look big, but it hardly has any meat. The flavor was spot on though. Service was good and they came around to change our plates frequently. Our bill was 6444 HKD for 7 dishes.

Cooked just right, and a fresh live fish was steam chinese style with scallions and soy sauce, fish steamed perfectly. They have indoor and outdoor seating. There is no pricing for the seafood than has to be weight, and there is a fee to cook each seafood item that choose, it will add up bill quickly. After receiving bill we were charged for tea and anything extra you requested. If you need to splurge once when in Hong Kong it is ok, pricing will be on the high end. They also have on far left a restaurant with same name. And on right is another restaurant that has same fresh live seafood restaurant. So chose wisely.

Once you've picked your selection, the fishermen bring it to the chef and cook it the way you want it to be cooked. Being that I ate with family, 8 of us chose a package that came with the selection of the seafood and certain ways to cook it. For example, our package selection can with a seafood cooked with certain noodles, and some seafood seasoned and paired a certain way with vegetables. While this place is VERY expensive, it was well worth the money to try this place at least once on your trip to Hong Kong. The dishes were cooked to perfection. I've never had seafood that big cooked in so many different ways before! Being a Hong Kong native, it's foods like this that bring back memories of growing up in Hong Kong and what REAL seafood should taste like. Once we sat down, in come two guys in suits, I guess you can call them managers, giving us numerous recommendations. It was fine at first because we needed some recommendations given it's vast menu. However, the recommendations would not stop, it was constant hounding. One of them gave legitimate recommendations, while the other try to sell us on the most expensive items on the menu. We ended up ordering these special deep-fried shrimp, beef on veggies, salted fish fried rice, and fried bean curds. The shrimp was scrumptious and by far one of the best shrimp I've ever tasted, it was also grossly overpriced at about $50 USD, or $400+ HKD. The beef on veggies was bad, the beef was not tender and tasted bland. The salted fish fried rice was meh, I've tasted better here in Boston. The salted fish that they used simply was not aromatic and did not have the distinct salted fish taste. The fried bean curd was very tasty, perfectly crispy on the outside with a hint of saltiness while super smooth and silky on the inside. The food was not Michelin star grade in my opinion. Here's the catch: the service was very annoying, the guy in suits essentially rushed us into ordering and would not stop bothering us even while we were eating. When the check came, he stood there the entire time awaiting my signature. It was by far the most uncomfortable restaurant experience I have endured in a very long time. In my 10 days in HK, I would have to say that this was my most dismal meal, ironic because it was also amongst the most expensive one. Meh.

I ordered the curry crab, an appetizer sampler, garlic bread, and pad see ew (with chicken). All of them tasted delicious, especially the curry crab. The crab was so fresh and complemented the curry sauce. It was the best. You can also see many Thai decorations, which give the impression that the owner is from Thailand.
